Hi
Should it not be possible to make CM6 run on the 2X? People talk about we need Gingerbread drivers from LG (would take time) to make a fully functional 2.3 ROM, so I thougt why not use CM6 until 2.3 arrive? CM6 is atleast way better than LG 2.2 stock...
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
I'm also wondering if this wouldn't be possible? CM6 is still alot better then LGs froyo, and it's enough till CM7 is ready.
Yes it is possible, O2X is very hack-friendly, some people are working on it atm, maybe they will present the results soon
great can't wait
Me neither. And now, if only there would be a media player that would play HW-accelerated 720P MKVs also, I would make sweet, sweet love with my phone.
This would indeed be wonderful! Anyone know if there are a Tegra2 player coming? Shouldnt be that far away since there are many phones/Tablets coming with Tegra2

Just saw this, of course I saw this too.
http://developer.nvidia.com/tegra/forum/honeycomb-harmony#comment-6191 as a response from Nvidia.
So are we still ok with the Streak 7 or did we just lose out somewhere?
I know I am waiting for the new roms to be posted sometime. =D
guess we are safe then. Talked to a very knowledgeable dude at a tmo store today (has a rooted, custom ROM Vibrant) and he told me they have been told that the ds7 will see honeycomb in the future.
I think we'll have to take the whole, wait and see approach.
Lets HOPE we get Honeycomb... Its the only way to see Hardware Accel I think for games we wanna play...

The hardware acceleration that is added in Honeycomb is in the user interface, we already have it in 2d/3d OpenGL applications (games, etc.), otherwise this thing would be a pissant when it comes to any real use. And, it is no slouch when it comes to gaming...
Honeycomb is strictly dependent upon Dell, if you want to know the likelihood of it getting done, they are the ones to pester.
Actually some devs and their games added support for Xoom, but said they couldnt on Streak 7 since its not on Honeycomb yet. (Hardware accel that is)
Got this from droidlife and I havent tested it yet since im on 2.3 but wanted the fam to have a crack at it and see if it works or not

We just threw up a post about the latest Netflix update which brought support to the original DROID, but what we failed to originally realize is that the update removed the device check which means in theory, that it should be able to work on all phones. Well, guess what? I loaded it up on my DROIDX2 (which is “not” supported) and it installed just fine and is now streaming a video. I’m loading it up on other devices too, but wanted to make sure you all knew. Feel free to grab it below and install – let us know how it goes!
*Note – this is not a hacked version. This is 100% the market version.
Update: Works on Thunderbolt (rooted 2.3), DROIDX2, DROIDX (2.3), and Xperia PLAY.
Update 2: No XOOM support though.
Update 3: Looks like it’s pretty hit or miss. Definitely sounding like it’s not working on stock Thunderbolt which is a damn shame.
Cheers Brandon!

It didn't work for me... It goes to login screen and then goes back to home screen when trying to login dang I may have to jump to EE03 finally..
Doubt that will work or anything for that matter because they have been trying to get it to work on many devices on the main Android forums of XDA and not many people are having luck.
Seems like we'll just be waiting for now until Netflix releases something. They did just add...
LG Revolution, Motorola Droid and Casio G'zOne Commando
But no Epic 4G yet
For snapdragon 2.2 devices
Did the news get around about a guy named butcher pete?

gotta love verizon huh lol
It is not the epic 4g, it is hummingbird based devices on the 2.2 kernal. Our cm7 isnt built on gingerbread source. It is still on 2.2.1 source. The reason that you need 2.3 because it has better hardware support for the hummingbird processor due to the fist flagship device to have a hummingbird was on 2.3 release not 2.2 release. Also, our software DRM that Samsung gave us in our 2.1 and 2.2 based ROMs sucks/is unable to support Netflix web streaming.

So what would happen if we took the DRM from the leaked gingerbread rom and placed it into a froyo rom? Do you think netflix would work. I am took afraid of trying this out myself for fear of reflashing my entire rom and reconfiguring all my setting again.

Thanks for the info.....was'nt aware that 2.3 was built around the Hummingbird processor. Damn....that should really give our Epic's a kick in the ass once it's official. Combined with some overclocked kernels and EXT4, maybe then we will see this phone's full potential.......it only took 8 monthes

netflix on syndicate from epic
i am currently running the syndicate rom on my epic 4g. i downloaded the app that meter 5 posted and updated it and it now works, maybe it might work on the stock rom. I know it is reported to work on the gingerbread rom but apparently it works on mine as well.
Just downloaded Netflix today from the Android Market. Running Bonsai 4.1.1 and I'm already streaming! Woot!

There's themed versions already, too.

The downloadable APK on that story FCs for me, right after login.
It works for me but when I click a video to watch it starts off really fast then goes back to the video browser
Tapatalkin' it from my Epic 3g
I've done some reading on this and it appears the Netflix app currently only supports devices with the Snapdragon processor What about the Hummingbird crowd? Damn you Netflix
Once gingerbread is released it should work. It currently runs on the Nexus S which is a hummingbird proc and it runs on my epic with the leaked gingerbread build.
Thanks daafisch, forgot to mention that. Don't know if Gingerbread will ever be officially released by Sprint/Samsung though.....it took them forever to release Froyo Gotta have my custom oc kernels
Not holding my breath on gingerbread, by the time it's out I'll be eligible for upgrade in Oct.

Yes, but it's a leaked version.....gotta wait until it's official and the source is released so we can have some custom kernels and EXT4. Till that happens, I'm going to flash and stay on SRF 1.1.1

Gingerbread with source will be out in within a month based on sources/rumors.
Also the apk doesn't work on SFR1.1.1.

Kinda figured it would'nt work on SRF 1.1.1, since it's 2.2 Rumors and sources can be very unreliable as in the rumors about Froyo that carried on for 6 monthes! By the time Sprint makes Gingerbread official, I'll have a duel-core phone

Hi everyone,
Are there any reviews or benchmarks for the various popular mods posted somewhere on XDA-Developers?
I have a Droid 3 - Bell Canada XT860 Atrix that is unlocked and just been rooted. Please suggest the best mod in terms of performance, drivers support, and battery consumption.
Thanks
XT860 and Atrix are different from each other. One difference is that the XT860 has a keyboard and Atrix does not.
You are right. This is XT860. Don't know why I added Atrix. So, can you recommend any of the available roms?
Best,
There is a thread ranking and reviewing all the current ics based roms, im on my device so im not linking anything. Its called DROID 3 rom comparison or something similar. Be aware all the ics roms have the same issues, due to the locked bootloader and the difficulties of running ics with a gingerbread kernel. Namely no hardware codecs for video camera, call volume issues, check the rom threads for specifics. That said aokp was my fav, lots of customization
Mavrom 4.0 is the only gingerbread rom that still sees support. Liberty is pretty good, with some good customization, but you'll have to scroll down pretty far. Eclipse is nice too, you'll have to go to rootzwiki to get that. Liberty might be easier to find there too as it has its own subforum.
You should also know that any rom that isn't specifically for xt860 will need a patch to make data work. There's different patches for gb and ics. They both have threads
If you need more help finding any of this stuff il try to point you in the right direction but as I said, on device, no links
Sent from my XT860 using xda premium
Thanks, I found the thread. It seems that AOKP and CM are the most popular.
"Namely no hardware codecs for video camera, call volume issues"
^^^^Is this going to change anytime or there is no hope for Droid-3 and ICS marriage anymore?
P.S. Does the camera work and is just not optimized? Call volume issue is annoying enough to want to go back or stock?
Thanks
I think both issues are being worked on... at least I haven't heard/read anything about devs giving up on them.
Camera seems normal (I'm using AOKP). Took a few pics so far. Panorama mode on the camera doesn't work. I don't think video recording works (I just tried it - when I hit the record button, nothing happens - I believe that has something to do with the video codecs not working). That said, there is a netflix issue (video codecs needed). I haven't noticed a call volume issue yet (but I haven't had it installed for very long).

Honestly who knows if will ever get the video. Its a deal breaker for me. I need to use Skype on my phone, so I'm running mavrom. I also found I get much better battery life with mavrom than any ics based rom, I tend to use my device a fair bit during the day and on ics it was always dying
Sent from my XT860 using xda premium
Panorama feature is nice and I use it sometimes but I can sacrifice it for ICS. However, video not working is a deal breaker for for me. I won't make my move yet then. Stick this old ginger I am disappointed but THANK YOU all for opening my eyes to the issues.
ics isn't bad. the battery life is pretty horrid though i listen to music quite lot nd ics couldn't keep up with it. bus rides lol my phone would be t 40 by the end of school and on stock its bout 60 or 70. youtube works which i found found funny but yeah. install safeboot i think its called. it lets you try the rom and if you don't like it then just switch it back. I haven't tried ny gingerbread roms yet. might try mav rom. are there more or is there only 3? it kind of dissapointed me there is no fully working cm7 :/
Man the X860 is slow compared to my S3, this is the primary device for one of my parent and for them its plenty. But it's slow becoming laggy and outdated and I would like to flash a new ROM tpo make it snappy.
I was hoping for an official CM build, but that does not seem to be the case so can anyone of you recommend a ROM that works will Bell Canada?
Currently using Moto Stock rooted and bloat removed. Also can some one explain this safe strap method, is there no way to flash it like a Samsung or hTC?
Mavrom is pretty good. They probably just need stable and that should do it. And unfortunately we don't have a fully functional ICS yet.

The Best Two GB Roms are:
Eclipse 3.0 - Almost no blur
Mav Rom 4.5 - The best of the blur
The Best ICS Roms are:
CM9 ICS Haschode NON KEXEC - It's fairly stable and quick. There is no hardware acceleration, so youtube gets a little laggy, camera is a hack and doesn't fully embrace the it's hardware, chrome does not work.
The 9/5/2012 CM9 Kexec Rom - Almost as stable. Everything works but Camera. The blutooth has been known to cause issues with phone calls if left on and not connected to a headset. Wifi tether also does not work at this time.
Kexec Roms: http://dl.hash-of-codes.com/ROMs/solana/ note CM10's data does not work stay CM9 for now.
There other ICS roms are great but I don't think have been updated recently.
ahh i see i was hoping for a good ICS by now .
What GB Rom is the best I want lag/bug free as possibly, enough for a daily driver for a 40+ non-techy parent can use.
I was reading on Mavrom and it seem the best and it works with CWM which i am so very used to.
@jesusishere
Thats great ICS list so thanks, but can you please link to ROM threads? The ICS won't work as daily drivers because of Camera issues, everything needs to function Bluetooth could care less for. But video, games, phone/gsm, wifi, camera, internal/external SD etc are a must.
So it seems this phone has to stick to GB.

Go Mav Rom for a non techy parent. It has enough blur to make it easy for someone to use. Also use safestrap. CWM has some issues with the D3. You can follow the latest development on ICS/JB with our main man, hashcode, his twitter.Hashcode. I do not think it will be much longer until he gets the Camera working. After that it's all down hill!
I have XT860 from Bell, Does anyone know how to unlock it ? I want to use it with ROGERS
oh i found unlock code just for $2.3
for best battery life try Maverick Rom, but v4.0. very fast as well.
eclipse 3.0 is faster, but somehow the webdock does not work and battery seems better with mav4.0
my advice: combine it with SSlauncher for a wonderful experience.
