on CM6 I could add text to my pin screen so I could write something like "if found please call XXX-XXX-XXXX to return" but I have not been able to find this on any rom for my captivate, so if i want the security that the pin unlock offers, an honest person who finds my phone (if i were to lose it) couldn't return it to me!!
I have thought of a solution, just change the theme of the pin-unlock screen to add some custom text, but I couldnt find any info from my various google searches... any one care to point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Check the market. There are several apps that will do that.

Thanks for the tip
No problem, just please don't forget to hit thanks button.

I had a little app that would change the carrier code sent to the App Market, so that it would think you coming from AT&T, T-Mobile, or a bunch of other carriers.
I flashed my flash, and now I can remember what the app was called! I do remember its icon was a little green lock unlocked on the left side. Can someone help a brother out and point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
Market Access
The app is called my market.

Thanks for the suggestions, but neither of these is what I had downloaded. The app I was using was black-themed, had three tabs, and let you apply different 6 digit carrier codes. It didn't access the Market itself. You still used the Market App, but the third option at the top was no longer AT&T... it was "downloads". It would also allow you to backup values, etc.
Anyone?

Market Enabler (another Program) and Market Access BOTH do this, however, Market Access allows for you to spoof on Boot, so that you essentially only need to spoof once.

Please from now on, use the search tool on the forums. I found the answer in 2seconds by searching "Market Restrictions"

Thanks Dave, but I was using the search function (and google) quite heavily with no luck. The key word I was missing was "Restrictions". I was using things like carrier codes spoofing, market carrier, etc and spending a lot of time looking in the different Markets themselves.
Thanks for the link, but I'm not sure the scolding was necessary.

You've probably found it, but I think you are looking for Market Enabler.
It's icon is a green "ME" in front of paper bag. It has 3 tabs: "Actual", "Settings list", and "Set custom"
Thanks for the suggestion for Market Access warri, it'll be nice having it happen automatically.

May I enquire what app is it that you are trying to get by appearing to be on another carrier. I installed my market and it did allow me to do this, but looking around and pretending to be on another carrier did not reveal any great sounding apps at all. Most of what I saw was bloatware, or apps to check your account information, and look for things like the WiFi hotspots for that carrier. What is it that you are wanting to get, that is unavailable to us AT&T folks?

[Q] [PATCH REQUEST] Add ADD "SENDING NETWORK TIMESTAMP" OPTION to received SMS
Dear all,
the problem is simple...as is possible to notice, when sms arrive the displayed time is the received and not the sent one...
this fact is valid for all the new generation smartphones, iPhone included..
=> I really hate this fact because sometimes happens that my phone is off or it has not signal and, after the signal is back again, I receive tons of SMS with the same time....and perhaps some of them all already "expired" since they are referred to a past event...
old phones like Nokias, ecc. displayed ALWAYS the "sent time" and not the "received one"...
I've seen that has been already opened an issue on the Android Dev Code : http ://code. google. com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989
what is more interesting to observe is that seems the base SMS application (but also Handcent SMS) uses the local handset time for the date called thru System.currentTimeMillis()...(http ://code. google .com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989#c40)
and, as I've seen ([http ://code. google .com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989#c39) it is possible to set the "network time" using the Android.Telephony.smsMessage.getTimestampMills()
now..could someone look into this issue and try to write a patch for our Galaxy S (but also for other phones should be the same..)? because I've not so much time and I'm not very familiar with Android code..
thank you very much,
Alessandro
up
please...could someone consider this? don't you think it's an interesting feature?
I would like this feature .
I for one would welcome this change.
I'll try to write some code today and see if I can read the timestamp.

I would like to see this in action too. I'm fed up of Android not supporting some of the most basic cell phone features .

many thanks
and I think it will also useful for all the Android community!!
oh... i used to view the properties of the msg to read the sent time with nokix, already forgot that it should be sent time but not rec time
Where is possible to find the sources of the native Android SMS application?
Could anyone post them (or something similar?)..then I'll try to hack the code
If i remember correct, the HTC Desire did not have this issue with default sms client.
Hope someone will find a fix for this annoying issue soon.
Possible fix
I know it's a little late but I found an app called SMS Timestamper Fix that seems to be working so far and it's free. Hope this helps.

Bump. I once had a mms.apk that had the sent timestamp instead of received timestamp. Now no developer knows how to recreate it.
I don't know if this was already asked or not, but I want to change "This phone belongs to" on the lock screen of my Captivate. I searched for the answer with no luck. Can someone point me to a thread, or let me know how to do it.
THANKS!!!
Did you recently load an antivirus program? If so go into the settings and change it there.

that doesnt exist on stock. you must have an application installed that does that
Go into your antivirus that you downloaded go to settings then to remote management, under that folder you will see where you can turn the message off or edit it.

It was from the stupid app the whole time. I didn't even bother to look at the lock screen before I added the AV app, so I didn't realize that app added the message to that screen. I got it though, Thanks for the help!

What AV app is that?
So I've been spending the better part of an hour trying to convince widgetlocker to block sms popup but can't seem to figure out the proper system name. I have tried "SMS Popup", "android-smspopup", and "com.smspopup.*" any help would be greatly appreciated.

why not just uninstall SMS popup or tell SMS popup not to try and unlock screen?
It doesn't unlock the screen. It pops up in front of widget locker instead of waiting for me to unlock it like it does by default. I tried the whole trying to figure it out through installed apps thing too. Even tried finding it before the names changed in running apps list. Not happening.

I'm also trying to figure this out... I love the customization for individual contacts that SMS Popup offers, and I'm not ready to lose that.... so if anyone can figure it out... haha.

I have never once said it unlocks the screen. And it never unlocks the phone on any setting. It does turn the screen on by default but I turned that off long ago. the problem is when I turn the screen on sms popup sits on top of the lockscreen with widgetlocker. Widgetlocker has an option but you need the actually system name such as "com.handcent.nextsms" to handcent. I just need that one little line of text to fix this. Just don't know what it is for sms popup.

Ahh but I am using sms popup as I like the stock sms app.

All you had to do to get that line was navigate to /data/app with root explorer and find SMS popup.
net.everythingandroid.smspopup-1.apk
Its a liveable issue. It doesn't wake the screen at least but I know there has to be a way to figure it out. Its probably not even that hard but I don't know enough about programming or how android works to do so. I've been on vacation since the issue started and getting on a plane home now. Hopefully ill be able to figure it out with a better workspace blah.
Edit: either you posted that while I was typing or im blind. I actually tried that my device just showed smspopup.apk I thank you very much sir.

Anybody know how to do it?
I think there is a CSC edit to do it (there's a thread in the apps subsection of ATT s6). Or what I do is run a weather app with an ongoing temperature notification - that hides it.
There is a csc edit let me see

I searched but can't find it. Somebody please link me.
Couldn't find the thread to link you to. Get app "CSC features editor" from the play store. There's an entry for "VZWdevice info" that's set false (as would be expected) pretty sure if you toggle that to true it will go away, as well as switching to vzw icons. Try searching on that to see if you can find the thread. You may want to verify before trying this, as I'm going off very fuzzy memory here...

Just tried it and it didn't work.
Anybody?
Wish there was a way to do this besides using a weather program. I was in a custom ROM in the S6 forum that hid it, but with CleanROM, I have to deal with this again.
