[Q]How to disable phone wake-up on text messages - LG Optimus 2x

Anyone knows how to disable the phone from waking up when I receive a txt msg.
On HTC you had a option for it in the txt menu.
But on the LG you don't (Or I havn't found it).
So anyone knows how to disable it?

Well mine doesnt wake up at all when I get texts or emails. Cant remember where I selected that setting tho

Mine only does that with texts, not with mail.
Please search how you did it

I think the reason why it doesn't wake up with email is because im not using the stock email client . I am using K9

You use stock text client?? Cause the stock text clients wakesup the phone.

Yea I am using the stock one, and it doesnt wake up my phone.

Still the phone keeps waking up on txt msg.

Just try out GO SMS Pro, it's free and in my opinion much better than the standard one! Lot's of options there, including an option to not wake up

I want to keep it stock. So not a option.

Do you have locking enabled, or what kind of screenlock you have.
If you have no lock, it will wake-up your phone.
If you use pattern lock it doesn't wake-up the phone.
I use go sms pro. Try it, you can uninstall it.

Handcent and Messaging

Hey guys,
I just recently got my HTC hero and I have a question about the messaging app. First of all, I am currently using Handcent mainly because if you use the stock app, texts always show up on the lock screen even if you are using the pattern lock. That is annoying, and I don't understand what the point of the pattern lock is if you can just see my texts without having to even unlock my phone...anyway, so I am using handcent and it's fine. I've made sure to remove notifications on the stock app so that I don't get double notifications, but my question is: is there a way to delete the stock app? I mean is the phone going to slow down since it is getting texts from 2 apps, does that make sense? Even though the notifications are disabled for the stock app, the texts still go there and they are also going to handcent...So basically i would like to know if:
1. i can delete the stock app (i have rooted my phone so...)
2. does it matter that the phone is pulling texts to two different apps
3. is there a way to make my texts not go to my lock screen, if so i would just not use handcent
Finally, on handcent, i will oftentimes get a text twice from people. does anyone have this problem?
Ok tahnks!
1. Don't delete the stock messaging app.
2. From what I've read on these forums, Handcent basically gets texts from the stock messaging app to get texts. Your phone isn't really doing twice the amount of work.
3. Hmm, I use handcent, and I disabled notifications on the stock app, and I don't see any texts from the stock app on my lock screen.
I also get texts twice once in a while. I think it has something to do with scrolling down the conversation window while the text is being received... not sure, but that's what I noticed.

Look at handcent as a theme for ur stock text app.
Deleting stock would make text not work.
No way to turn that off in stock text for the lockscreen
Dbl text is the carrier at times. It happens. No way to stop it.
My experience is different, I deleted the stock app (mms.apk) and my text work just fine. As long you as you remembered to turn on auto retrieve in your handcent's setting under "Receive message settings". It has been working for me without any issue.
Handcent and Google Voice don't play well with one another. Handcent won't display my Google Voice number despite what the Google Voice settings say. It also behaves... oddly for me. I really wish it would work the way I want it to, though. Hot damn, is it pretty. I love the interface and the customization options. I just hate the fact that it won't play nice with Google Voice. So... ugly texting through my preferred number, it is!
Have you tried chomp sms? Similar look, not as customizable, but may play better with gv

I have tried Chomp. But, as far as I can tell, when not sending from the Google Voice application, it tells people that it came from my cell number, not my Google Voice number. The whole point of Google Voice, at least for me, is to have one number forever, not switch between them.

Sms popups

I've done some research and found out that HTC sense offers this. I want to have a pop-up of my text with a quick reply option on my lockscreen. Is there an apparently that can do it for the captivate? I've tries SMS pop-up and go SMS. Neither works and I hate to continuously install apps. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
Handscent does this very well but it tends to work best as a replacement for the default messaging app.

Ok, so.. I've tried all of those, they all suck. I just found this new one called GO MMS or GO SMS or something. It's awesome, customization options, awesome popup ui, quick, try it out.

[q] linking market sms app to lockscreen

I think only Orb Unlock (Puzzle Unlock) and Glass Unlock (Screen swipe) are able to display stock SMS notifications on the lockscreen.
Since I'm using GoSMS, is there a way for when I unlock with the "Missed text" icon on the lockscreen it brings me to GoSMS and not the stock SMS?
I don't remember if it was an older version of the ROM I'm on (Serendipity) that when I unlock the Missed Text icon when it has 2+ missed messages, it asks me what app to open for it. But that doesn't happen anymore. And when you unlock it with 1 missed text, it automatically opens with the stock SMS. <~ Might even be on a different ROM but I don't remember which, either way... I can't figure out how to get it to work the way I described.

Also still wondering how to link after market SMS apps to be used in lock screen as well

Hi:
I too would like to use Handcent with the stock (AT&T) puzzle indicator. I have found several threads with this question asked, but none have answers. Does anyone know if this is even possible? If so, how?
Or is it just impossible?
Thanks!
MikeyMike01 said you would need to hack the sms app. Since they aren't open source, I don't think it's possible.

My screen is turning on when SMS is received

my screen is turning on when I receive an SMS. Why is that? I want to stop it. I´m using an app to disable the screen lock, so it´s risky when I receive an sms with the phone in pocket and no lock.

Or, change your sms app, install go sms pro, and configure it

SMS app Notifications

I have my P20 pro since Mars and I have problems with my SMS app notifications, they are not reliable, sometimes i receive a sms I get the notification in that moment, other times I open the app to see that I had recibed a sms several hours erlier and din't get any notification like sound, led light, diplyed on the Always on screen or dot over the app.
I'm using the MS launcher (the E.M.U.I 9.1 is just awful) with all permition and app runing on back ground. This apens with de system sms app or any other app for sms that I instaled and just apens with the SMS app everything else works perfect, also tryed other launchers and hard reset the phone.

Did you try settings>>battery>>app launch? Make sure you select the sms app and set it to manage manually and make sure the options to run in background etc are both set.
Cheers

If you're using the stock app, have you turned off WiFi messages?? In chat feature??
Doesn't always work and can cause delays as it will assume your recipients also have the same features set up.

I'm using the stock sms app but that can't be the problem, my phone don't have that feature. Also, I still have the problem with others sms apps.

You aren't online. There's no connectivity icon at all.
We have the same phone so it should be available.
Unless its region specific, but I doubt that.
Install another messaging application, handcent used to be pretty good, but it's been a while.

I think that is a regional feature, even with mobile data on still don't have 'chat features'. I also have sms organizer from Microsoft, nice app, but the problem persist.
