This may void your warranty, cost you your soul, and cause your spouse to leave you - ALL OF WHICH I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR!
So, if it's because you screwed up flashing something, bricked your tablet with an OTA update after you installed CWM, or whatever, this is how you get it back to its outta-da-box shape!
(Please note, this assumes you have both installed CWM on your DS7 AND have installed the latest SDK on your computer).
1. Download the three attached .img files
2. Boot into CWM (since there really isn't anything else you can do)
3. In CWM, mount your SD card (so that you can view files via USB)
4. Plug in your DS7 to your computer, and copy the three .img files to the root of your SD card
5. Unmount your SD card, but leave the USB cable plugged into computer
6. Mount as many things as you can (ie system, boot, etc)
7. Open up command prompt, and navigate to your Android/tools folder, and type "adb devices"
8. There should be a number that shows up, or a "?" - either at this point is fine
9. Type the following command:
Code:
adb shell
a hash tag should show up that looks like this:
Code:
#~
10. Now, type the follow two commands one at a time:
Code:
flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p2 /sdcard/boot_orig.img
flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p1 /sdcard/recovery_orig.img
11. now, select "reboot" from DWM to reboot your device. It should boot and say something like "Formating Misc", and then it will reboot repeatedly
12. Use something small to push the RESET button on the DS7 (it's next to the SD card slot)
Your screen should go blank
13. Now, press and hold both the POWER button and the VOLUME - button until the screen comes on saying that the "fastboot downloader" is booted
14. Copy the three .img files into the your Android/tools folder
15. Now type the following code:
Code:
fastboot devices
16. There should be a number that shows up, or a "?" - either at this point is fine once again
17. Now type the following commands one at a time. The first will take a while to complete - this is okay:
Code:
fastboot flash system system_orig.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery_orig.img
fastboot flash boot boot_orig.img
Now, if after every command a "finished." is given, along with the total time each command took, you may continue.
18. You may now type the triumphant command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Which will reboot your device.
Give it a little bit to boot, but when all is done you should see the original T-Mobile boot animation and everything.
Special thanks to DJ_Steve, bogdi1988, and [email protected] for all your help!
Needed files:

[Edit]
For those users who need the original "flash_image.zip" file, I have uploaded it and it is available here.

No its not his fault.. people shouldn't have tried to install the ota update while having cwr installed.. instead should have waited for a zip of the update that hell posted on behalf of did steve. As I have said if you have cwr you really can't get ota updates and install them the normal way. If the update was an update.zip you could flash through cwr but dell uses pgk files not zip.. so the only way to update is to wait for a dev to release a flashable cwr zip fike

Hi,
I am the situation described above as I tried the OTA and am now stuck in CWR.
I followed the directions putting the 3 files on the root of my DS7 and am stuck at the following:
~ # flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p2 /sdcard/boot_orig.img
flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p2 /sdcard/boot_orig.img
failed with error: -1
~ #
Any ideas.....?
Thanks
SkI
Error 1
Error 1 means that the file is not where it is supposed to be. In this case on the SD card. Check and make sure that you have the right file, with the right file name on the root of your SD card and try again!
Good Luck

+1 same here...
I find that at step 3... I mount sdcard... it shows on PC... I copy the 3 files to drive... unmount sdcard... mount everything else... run the other commands then get error... when I repeat the process I notice the files I copied are not there... ?
so I tried to adb push the files... they say they went thru correctly... but still get the same result as above...
any ideas?

when you adp push to sdcard, make sure you mounted it already.
after that , it always help to adb shell ls /sdcard to make sure all files are there.
then you go to adb shell,
use the stock flash_image to flash. remember point to the path to flash_image
eg. flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p2 /sdcard/boot_orig.img
my understanding, if you don't mount sdcard, you canot see your sdcard FROM the tablet's perspective.
I mean, for table's flash_image to work, it has to be able to access its drive, in this case, is sdcard 's content.
so did you try leave sdcard mount and do the command above?
Hey Team...
can someone help me find the stock flash_image plz.....

I updated my phone's SPL to "Danger SPL" and now my phone wont turn back on! I press power and the black Android screen with the little green android next to it comes up but wont boot my phone! The only thing I can do is get the white screen with the 3 android's skateboarding by pressing camera + power.
Ontop of that, I had tried to update my phone's recovery image too, and I erased the old one and now it would let me upload the NEW one! So not only do I have NO PHONE but NO RECOVERY either!
What do I do!? HELP!
can you get into fastboot? (back+power)
if you can, get adb running and flash your recovery image with fastboot
you are gonna have to fast boot in the screen with the three androids on it, either a rom or a recovery
guess you betta learn how to use adb
Yea I can get into fastboot, thats the ONLY thing I can get into. How do I flash my recovery image?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566669
boot your phone into fastboot. plug in your usb cable to your pc. this should change the fastboot icon on the screen to fastboot usb. from there, load up adb on your pc and make sure you have the fastboot option available by typing fastboot devices. it should list your phone. once that is good, type:
fastboot flash recovery and the correct name of your recovery file.
for example:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.3.img
**also note...put the recovery image in your android sdk\tools folder**
this should give you a recovery to boot into.
if you dont have adb on your pc, read this and follow the instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719
I did that already, it wont work.
C:\Android>fastboot flash recovery recovery123.img
error: cannot load 'recovery123.img'
i am gonna be the one to ask this question but did you put .s between 123 like 1.2.3.
you need to be in the tools directory, not the android directory.
c:\Android\tools>fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.3.img
and you need the recovery file IN your tools folder for it to be found as well.
No I didn't put .'s between each number I renamed my file recovery123.img so thats the way I put it in.
ok, so go to the correct directory and input what you had the first time, WITH the file IN that same folder. and then report back.
i justed rename my recovery the shortest way i can like for amon ra"s i just put amon, less typing is always better
It says C:\Android\tools is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
from your c:\> prompt type this:
cd c:\android\tools
(this is assuming you have the android sdk in the c:\android folder on your pc)
if it is saying its not a folder, then that is not where you installed the android sdk.

This is not true. You can have it anywhere as long as you can cd to it and you have your fastboot.exe in the system32 folder.
Look... this is so easy I'm wondering why this has gone on for more than 1 page.
First thing is first. I'm betting that you don't have the new ADB driver for the Danger SPL.
If you refer to this page:
http://sapphire-port-dream.googlecode.com/
it states:
If you use the above SPL you will need new drivers for Windows. They are located here.

Then put your fastboot.exe in c:\windows\system32 directory.
Whatever recovery file you're trying to use rename it to "recovery.img" and put it on C:\ then open command prompt (start > run > cmd > enter)
cd c:\
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
and it should show a progress bar in the top right corner.
While the dos screen shows 'sending' and then 'writing'.
After you see ...done a second time then type:
fastboot reboot
and it should reboot just fine... but you may need to do that "3 finger solute" (talk, end, menu) while holding the camera button down to get into your recovery. You should be able to flash your rom. Just make sure the rom doesn't have a radio update (unless it's the 2.22.19.26I).
what he said.

No problem. I just hate it when something this simple drags onto multple pages. Call it a peev. So many people get intimidated by the "Danger SPL" because they don't want to risk bricking their phones. The odds of bricking your phone are extremely small if you follow directions and read everything. And sure the possibility of accomplishing this by different means exists. But when you try to tell someone to put this file in that folder and type in the full names of the files to include all the dots and dashes, it's going to get confusing and intimidating and thus these posts keep popping up.
If someone follows those very short and simple directions they shouldn't have any problems. Granted that "**** happens" and things don't always go as they should. So in that case, search for your answer. If you've searched on XDA then search Google. Out of the MILLIONS of G1's that have been sold, I am fairly certain that someone out there has had a similar problem. If not then you and your phone are literally "1 in a million" (technically it was 1 in 1.5 million a year ago so you can bet that it's well over 2 if not 3 million by now). And if you really fall into that catagory then please post a new thread (in the appropriate catagory of course) .
well the good news is u didnt brick ur phone but try a enter adb and do a nadroid back up if u hav 1 that will bring u back 2 the way u want it
either flash a nadroid or flash dreaming.nbh....i had the same problem and a nadroid worked just fine
Hi,
I'm trying to update kernel on my At&T Nexus one.
I'm noob and I'm a little lost as what to do.
Instructions I pulled from the net(_hxxp://iq0.org/story/nexus-one-1113mhz-stable):
1. Root your Nexus and install whatever rom you so choose <- Rotted with stock EPE54B. Ok
2. Download SetCPU from either XDA for free, or support the developer as I did and buy it on the market <- Bought from the market. Ok
3. Reboot into fastboot and type "fastboot flash zimage zImage" <- Help - I'm in the Fast boot, cant see where to type this. Help
4. Push the .ko file to /system/lib/modules <- Push - How is it done? Help.
5. Once your phone boots, open SetCPU and tell it to autodetect your CPU (Don't choose Nexus from the list!)
6. Set the max clock to the highest and tell it to set on boot.
7. Enjoy
If that matters, here is the kernel:
_hxxp://droidbasement.com/db-blog/
boot-cm_2633.2-oc-uv-xtra-btn-aud-ram-vfp_fp-042210.zip
If ur using CyanogenMod, simply pop that zip file onto ur SD card, and flash the zip via Amon RAs recovery...
If you use any other mod or stock, read the 101 thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619153) for how-tos for adb & fastboot

If you're running windows on your computer - do this.
Make sure your phone is in fastboot mode. Have usb debugging mode on too.
Start -> Run -> Type " Cmd " ( without the quotes )
Which will bring up command prompt.
Depending on where you saved your fastboot, the kernel, and .ko file... ( In my case, I chose C:/N1/Tools as folder of choice ) I would have to type these commands on command prompt...
cd \ < press enter> This command is to go into c drive
cd n1 < press enter> This command is to go into n1 folder
cd tools < press enter> This command is to go into tools folder in n1 folder
( But...you would more than likely have to enter something else, since you probably saved it somewhere else )
Then, type this:
fastboot flash zimage zImage-cm_2633.2-oc-uv-xtra-btn-aud-ram-vfp_fp-042210
If you succeed, lets proceed to the next step.
Unzip the tar.gz file and then place the bcm4329.ko to the folder of your choice. Choose reboot phone from fastboot menu, and wait until your phone loads up. Then... type this on the command prompt:
adb remount
adb push bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules
& if you succeed, restart your phone.
Run set cpu on your phone.
Pick autodetect speed.
You should be able to slide the bar and choose 1.113 ghz speed.
Let me know if this works for you.
My successful saga with [CyanogenMod-5: Kang Central Station 5.0.6].
Thanks guys for your suggestions. I followed advise from craigacgomez "....If ur using CyanogenMod, simply pop that zip file onto ur SD card, and flash the zip via Amon RAs recovery..." and was able to install the ROM and then install this kernel.
On my 1st attempt I did install Cyanogen over the current ROM (no wipe), without wipe, but it did not work. Phone was stuck on the loading screen where, while in the boot, you see the elctrofying blue cross...I then tried to revert to standard ROM (I think there is an option for this)...It did not work...I mean it successfully installed, but upon loading the screen went black and that was it...On my 3rd attempt I did a full wipe and flashed Cyanogen zip file and it was success! Phone took a little longer to boot up, but then no problems using it. I went back to the recovery screen and flashed this kernel that I wanted...
So, I'd say it is sucsess!
The only problem now is that, in the settings I've selected Apps2SD but the apps are downloading to the internal memory. I'm not sure if if my current partitioning is the issue (64mp for hot swap, 512mb and the rest is FAT32).
Any quick advise?
Repartitioning?
lets start with the simple fixes first. Did you ENABLE apps2d before installing the apps ?
You can also manually move your apps from internal memory to SD by going to settings>applications>manage apps, click on the app it should tell you where its currently saved, then just click on the "move" button...
If this don't work then you can partition your SD via recovery.
Good Luck!

Wow! Thanks. This is great tip. How I don't have to go
guess the storage location of the app. I downloaded 1 app and I see the location of it says SD card. So I can be sure that apps2SD is functional.
BTW, Do I need to have my SD partitioned 2>3 then 3>4, or basic partitioning will suffice?

No need to partition if its working. I believe the apps2d option does that automatically.

sweet been having problems myself, this worked for me thanks!
how do i boot into fastboot mode to type commands
this guide is for those who still have Clockwork Mod Recovery still on device you can thank bogdi1988 for his work and orginal guide here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12185475&postcount=76
BUT THIS MAY WORK FOR OTHERS IF YOU KNOW HOW TO MOUNT SYSTEM AND DATA AND THOSE THINGS FROM ADB
but to simplify I did this :
stock images
recovery.img
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2252176/recovery.img
boot.img
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2252176/boot.img
Once in recovery mount everything you can system , data , cache , everyrthing besides sd card
then go into command prompt and type adb shell make sure its working if you still have root it will show # if not it will show $ I believe no biggie as long as it picks up in shell.
then type : flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p2 /sdcard/boot_orig.img
then type : flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p1 /sdcard/recovery_orig.img
select reboot from the recovery. now it will reboot and it will format misc and it will reboot again.
bogdi1988 suggest flash all images over again in fastboot
in this order
system.img
recovery.img
boot.img
thanks go to everyone who has a dell streak 7 that was willing to try all these hacks and risking your devices for the greater good of the streak
P.S. I will post system.img in a second
Also for fastboot help thank bogdi1988 again heres his post that helped me

I attempted the adb method but can't get into fastboot... I believe I got the adb commands correct and I don't get an error but my the restore is not taking... at the reboot it goes right back into CWM 3.0.2.0 here's my adb shell read out...
C:\android\platform-tools>adb shell

~ # flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p1/sdcard/recovery_orig.img
flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p1/sdcard/recovery_orig.img

I don't know what else to do, I can't find a thread that stays on track long enough to follow this issue all the way thru... please help... I have read and tried everything, i can't find a clear set of alternatives... am i missing a step?
ya, i'm stuck in the same situation. I either get a "error -1" or it says "usage: flash_image partition file.img"
does getting "usage: flash_image partition file.img" mean the file was successfully flashed?

You are missing the space between mmcblk3pX and /sdcard.
ok, thats what i thought. when i do it the other way i get the "failed with Error: -1" any ideas on that. also if i send it back to t-mobile under the warranty, they won't send it back as damaged since i had CMW installed o it will they?

IMG Reposted?
Hi Folks,
A couple of people have posted that the boot, recovery, and system image links respond with a "404 not found" error. This is still the case.
I recall reading somewhere else that the images may still live on the SD card on the device. If this is true does someone know where in the file structure they may be?
If not, does anyone know where to obtain the images?
Currently I'm in CWM reboot hades on my Dell Streak 7. Tried the Dell OTA update for Honeycomb...didn't know that was a BAD thing until it was too late.
I've tried flashing boot and recovery images from a backup I'd made earlier, but no luck, so thatruth's excellent guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1006829 doesn't help much...unless I can get the recovery and boot images.
So to reiterate:
I can get to CWM and clear the caches and flash a recovery.
I can communicate with the device via ADB and have flashed it with the backup images.
I can mount the internal SD card via CWM and my pc.
After flashing with the backup images, Fastboot still does not recognize that the device is connected, and the device does not apper to go through the 'format steps'.
Cheers,
L2
Found 'lightly modified' roms (thank you DJ Steve!) for a T-Mobile streak on another XDA thread. Flashed using adb, and tadaaaa, it booted! sliiiight problem. Will not boot into recovery and no wireless.
Managed to install rom manager (AKA ClockWorkMod) via ADB but CWM wan't an internet connection to install the recovery rom. grrrrr.
One of the other modifications (aside from root) by DJ Steve is the installation of 'BusyBox', This actually seems to complicate things for me because I don't really know how to issue ADB commands from the BusyBox shell. I get a lot of 'invalid command' and the like... I was able to install CWM OUTSIDE the adb shell (adb install rommanager) but once I'm in the shell (adb shell)I don't know how to issue the proper commands.
What I want to do is either remove busybox, or use ADB inside busybox to flash the CWM recovery rom, then flash my backup roms. (and hopefully return to full functionality.)
Any suggestions on how to use ADB commands inside of busy box to flash a rom?
Can anyone upload the stock rom images? I need to flash back to stock :\
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
As always, mucking with your device at this level is risky. If you follow this process, you do so entirely at your own risk. I accept no responsibility for any detrimental effects resulting from following this process, or for any problems associated with the updated files. Only if you accept these risks should you use these instructions.
PREREQUISITES
Unlocked bootloader (see my guide to do this)
Working fastboot (also see my guide )
Patience
NOTES
I developed and followed this process on Ubuntu Natty, 64bit. I see no reason why it should not work on any other platform, since the only tool used is fastboot and the syntax for fastboot is the same on any platform. if you need to know how to get fastboot working, there are already many guides for that (see my how to unlock your bootloader thread, for example)
BUTTON CONFUSION
When in landscape mode, with the camera at the top, the power button is on the left 'vertical' side of the tab. On the top is the volume rocker. In this orientation:
- The LEFT side of the volume rocker is VOLUME DOWN
- The RIGHT side of the volume rocker is VOLUME UP
This might seem obvious, but to anyone who is used to phones, this is the opposite, since they were designed to be used in Portrait mode.
PREPARE
1) With your Tab in fastboot mode (step 1 of "GETTING ROOT" below), make sure you have a working fastboot implementation:
Code:
fastboot devices
If all is well, you should see your device serial number. If there is a problem, you won't get any response.
2) Downlad View attachment skitzandroid-10-1v-root_0.2.zip and View attachment skitzandroid-stock-recovery.zip
3) Create a folder on your desktop called "root"
Code:
mkdir ~/Desktop/root
for Ubuntu or
Code:
md %userprofile%\desktop\root
for Windows
This will be referred to as the working directory throughout the rest of this guide
4) Copy skitzandroid-10-1v-root.zip to your working directory (DO NOT UNZIP!)
5) Extract the skitzandroid-recovery.img file from skitzandroid-stock-recovery.zip to your working folder. Your working folder should now have 1 IMG file and one ZIP file.
6) This was an afterthought - Make sure fastboot is somewhere in your path (ie can be executed from anywhere). To test, 'cd' to any random folder and type 'fastboot' and make sure it runs.
7) Copy the skitzandroid-10-1v-root.zip file to the root of your sdcard. You can eithe drag/drop, or run:
Code:
adb push skitzandroid-10-1v-root.zip /sdcard/
from your working directory
...now the easy part
GETTING ROOT
1) Power off your Tab and power it back on, while holding the VOLUME DOWN button.
2) When the DOWNLOAD / FASTBOOT icons appear, press VOLUME DOWN again to select FASTBOOT icon (the one with the USB logo) and press VOLUME UP to confirm selection.
3) Confirm you are now in fastboot mode and do a:
Code:
fastboot devices
If all is well, you should see your device serial number.
4) Open a terminal / CMD prompt and CD to your working folder
Code:
cd ~/Desktop/root
for Ubuntu or
Code:
cd %userprofile%\desktop\root
for Windows
5) Run the following command:
Temp Root:
Code:
fastboot boot skitzandroid-recovery.img
..and wait. It might not look like anything is happening but it is.
Permanent Root:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery skitzandroid-recovery.img
6) You should now have a recovery menu. Use the volume rocker (up/down navigates menu options) to select "Install zip from SDCARD" (or something like that - if someone can post the exact menu item wording, I will update the guide). Press (tap!) the POWER button to confirm the menu selection
7) Navigate to the root of your internal storage (/sdcard), select the skitzandroid-10-1v-root.zip file and press (tap!) the POWER button to confirm selection.
8) Once complete, use the Volume rocker to select "REBOOT" from the menu and press (tap!!!) the POWER button to confirm selection.
9) You're done! Press the thanks button on this thread to continue
TESTING
1) Once your Tab boots up, check your apps menu to confirm the existence of SuperUser app.
2) With the Tab attached to your PC via USB cable, do the following:
Code:
adb shell
su
..and watch the screen on your Tab for a SuperUser prompt. If you see this, congratulations!
If you have never rooted a phone/tablet before, go get Titanium Backup Pro and ROM Manager from the market. As soon as the custom ROMs start flowing in, you'll be all set to go.
Edit: How about thanking smaskell who was very patient and persistent in dumping the image from his Google IO 10.1 - for the good of his fellow XDA members. Without his help, this would not be possible.
Note that the above process doesn't flash the recovery, just loads it.
If you want to flash the recovery permanently, all you need to do is follow the guide above and then, in step 5, use this command instead:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery skitzandroid-recovery.img
You will then have a permanent recovery which you can get to by doing:
Code:
adb shell
su
reboot recovery
at any time.
Note that doing just
adb reboot recovery

Thank you guys, it's working great on my 10.1v
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this already - but is there anyway of getting temp root on these devices so I can backup all my apps and data (properly) before unlocking / flashing recovery / rooting??
This wont make any changes to the partitions. You could undo the whole process by just deleting a few files.
The process in my second post would actually flash the image, and would be permanent if you had no 'factory' recovery image to flash back.
The 'standard' process in post 1 is normally used for testing and doesn't overwrite the recovery partition
Thanks a lot. Works like a charm
Now to make a full "original" fastboot flashable restore fileset:
Boot: dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 of=/sdcard/boot.img
System: dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 of=/sdcard/system.img
Would this be enough to have a proper "original" image? (With the small addition of root offcourse)
(Did a dd of dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=/sdcard/efs.img too, just to have a backup
Will see if I can make a full nandroid back-up now
Before flashing any recovery images etc..

Sorry, I realise that applying the root won't wipe anything, but unlocking the bootloader comes with a nice factory reset if I'm not mistaken..

Good work!
You should mention that you can't unlock and flash the Root-Update in one step.
The recovery complains then that /data/media is missing

That is part of the recovery image, not the unlocked bootloader.
You can always put back a stock image using fastboot which is one of the really nice things about fastboot unlocking vs bootloader exploits. "fastboot oem unlock" can then be undone by "fastboot oem lock" and nobody would know the diff.

Thanks,
Also remember to enable USB debugging after you have done the unlocked bootloader, took me 5 min to to realize why adb did not want to work, 5 scary min after the reboot.

When i type the dd if=/data/recovery.img of=/block/mmcblk0p6 bs=4096 to flash over the clockworkmod, into my command promt it says 'cannot open for read: No such file or directory' and i dont know what im doing wrong.
I mean everything else seemed to workout fine. i downloaded the recovery image it said to save it but it was already saved to my computer after i downloaded it so i dont know if this could be the problem.
Then i used the adb push recovery.img/data command to push the recovery image to my phone, i think this might be where i messed up. After i put in the command a long list of text pops up on the command prompt. It starts out showing 'Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.26' then is followed by a long list of adb commands. Idk know if this is what its supposed to show.
Next i did the adb shell, su, dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p6.backup bs=4096 command and that worked fine it said 2560+0 records out, 2560+0 records in 10485760 bites transfered in 0.413 secs and i actually found that file on my sdcard. So i think i did that right.
Next i tried to use the command 'dd if=/data/recovery.img of=/block/mmcblk0p6 bs=4096' and like i said earlier it just says 'cannot open for read: No such file or directory'
Lastly i tried the rm /data/recovery.img command and it said rm failed for /data/recovery.img, No such file or directory in the command prompt.
Im sorry i am new at this but i thought i followed the directions perfectly and any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.
First off, before someone else says it, you shouldn't start a new thread for something we already have a topic for. But anyways,
Sounds to me like recovery.img never got pushed to /data. Not sure if its a typo in your post but 'adb push recover.img/data' should be 'adb push recovery.img /data'. The space is important. On your phone use a root file explorer and go to your /data partition and see if recovery.img is there. You may need to either change permissions for /data or just put recovery.img on your sdcard and move it to /data with a root explorer.
Sent from my LG-P925 using Tapatalk
Well im sorry im new to this kind of thing, i didnt want to make anyone mad i just wanted some help and i apologize if ive ticked somone off. How would i change the permissions for the data? And could you tell me how to use the root explorer to put the recovery image in the right place? Again i appreciate any help you can offer.
Is recover.img in the same folder as adb? Because the instructions assume your recovery.img is in the same folder you are working from. So if you have to cd to your adb folder to use adb then recovery.img should be in that folder as well. Look at your cmd window, whatever directory/ folder it says you are in that is where you should put recovery.img.
If you saw a bunch of commands it means the .img did not go through your command did not work. You dont have the recovery.img in /data either put the file on your sdcard and use a root explorer to move it to /data or try the adb push again, you most likely made a typo or something.
You would put recovery.img on your sdcard through your computer. Open root explorer and navigate to your sdcard, long press on the recovery.img select move, go to/ data on the root of the phone, not the one on either sdcard it MUST be /data not /mnt/sdcard/data or anything like that once there paste file to /data and finish up in adb shell.
Alright i copied the recovery image to the /data folder and finished up in command prompt and everything worked out like it was supposed to. what was i supposed to do next to put it into cwm recovery mode? I held power, volume down, 3d button but i just went into normal recovery mode. then i went to rom manager to try and put it into cwm recovery that way but it just rebooted my phone. And when i went back into the /data folder i couldnt find the recovery image there anymore and i did a search on my root explorer and couldnt find it anywhere.
Hold vol down + 3D + power when lg logo appears release power but keep vol down +3D held down until recovery pops up. If you still don't boot into cwm try flashing recovery.img again. Do NOT use rom manager at all to install cwm on this phone.
Well ive tried to take the recovery image from the sd card to the /data folder but when i run 'rm /data/recovery.img' on the command prompt then reboot my phone, i turn it off then try and put it in recovery mode but its just regular recovery mode not cwm recovery mode. And everytime i run the 'rm /data/recovery.img' when my phone boots back up the recovery image is no longer in the /data folder or anywhere. But if i dont run the 'rm /data/recovery.img' after moving the recovery image to the /data folder it stays in the folder. Is it supposed to dissapear from the /data folder?
And i tried putting the recovery image in the same folder as abd which is the platform tools folder then flash it over and i got the same message. (cannot open for read: No such file or directory.)
Im sorry for all the questions and I am thankful for your help. I feel like i cant be the only person having this problem, well i hope im not that would make me feel really stupid. Thanks.

rm is the command to remove. So yes, recovery.img is supposed to disappear after that command. Put it back on /data and run the whole process from the CWM thread again making sure you do every step. Sounds like you may have accidentally skipped a step.
