frg83 unlocked boot loader now stuck.

Will rage thee cage method work now that my n1 us unlocked?
Is there a noobs guide to rage the cage? Also I haven't done much research on the radio. Would I need to download something for it? I'm lost as hell. THNKS FRG83

I flashed amon-ra's recovery and once I rebooted I got an android with a "!". The guide I used was on nexusonefourums. It said that if I got that symmbol that I was not rooted. I used modacos frf91 superboot to root. I was told it'd work. Apparently not.

O and now my wifi doesn't work at all. It just says error under settings-wireless.

Easiest way to see if you have root is to download a flashlight app from the market that requires root, and see if it works.
I always understood that the exclamation android guy was because you had stock recovery (I'm sure someone will correct me).

No need, you're spot on. Unless you remove a couple of files, the stock recovery is re-installed.

There is. "Root FRG33/83 without unlock" contains the thread with the explanation, and "SuperOneClick root app" is simple to use. Both in "Guides".
To the OP: Read the Wiki, for God's sake. The questions here come over and over again, and the interesting threads and questions all get lost in the maze of "how to root my phone". There's a guide for flashing recovery, read under "Recovery", and it says - "for unlocked bootloaders". That would save you the trouble of trying to root through rageagainstthecage method, because with unlocked bootloader you don't need any of that. There's also a guide, called "Flashing custom ROMs", at "Guides and Tutorials". That would cover everything you need.

N1 torch asked for super user permission and the full brightness is now working. It wouldnt work without root. So im rooted.... hate to ask it but.... now what? do amon-ra again?
Looking to add CyMod... and whats the deal on the updating my radio? do i need to? I hate being ignorant, but I gotta ask to learn.. Or I could brick my 500 dollar phone.

Pretty sure you're still on stock recovery, so yes, flash Amon Ra or Clockworkmod (if you're on an SLCD screen, only Amon 1.8 or 1.9 will work).
The wiki has instructions, or use Clockworkmod ROM Manager (but read the wiki either way).

Good heads up danger-rat. Downloads most recent radio and updated. I used rom manager and flashed most recent clockwork recovery. Now my next problem is getting cyanogenmod to download through Tom manager. It got 95% complete and said "rom download error. Google Apps: (outside link I can't post because of being a new member)" in my notifications.

Found a manual download site for gapps hdpi. Hopefully I can install it correctly

Thanks for the help guys. I'm well rooted with restored GApps. Running CM6. One question though...
My age of conquest apps says that I have not purchased a license and now closes. I have emailed the app developer and haven't gotten a response. Any solution? I have uninstalled and redownloaded and still no fix.

Stock nexus correct setup.

I just bought another nexus one after my first one went swimming. And I have no idea what was done to it before. There are a few things that don't make sense.
1. I can not go into recovery mode.
2. it says I am on RA 1.7 but can't upgrade on change to clockwork.
3. Nothing works to root. It either freezes or says error.
What is going on. And how do I fix this problem. P.s. I don't have access to a PC most of the time.

Easiest thing is going to be to install the FRG83 system image from http://developer.htc.com
Download it, rename to passimg.zip and put it on the root of your SD card. Power phone off, hold Vol- and power on, it will detect the file and ask if you want to install.
THIS WILL WIPE THE PHONE

Thanks for the help. It did not wipe my phone and i am still having the problems. I am on FRG83D which is what I was on last time. Any other digestions or should I call it quits before it gets worse.

Both images did not work. It checks them and the loading bar on the top right side goes fine then it says checking PASSIMG.zip then goes back to the same screen and never asks to install. Would it have anything to do with not loading any recovery? Or would a rooted image be better to install? To give you an exact picture of where my phone is at this is how it is.

FRG33 is a zip within a zip, extract it and use that file.

Gingerbread network connectivity issue

Hi guys, I'm new to Android, swaped my 3Gs for a N1, I manually updated the phone to FW 2.3.3 (GRI40), the phone is stock, no root, no custom firmware.
The phone randomly loses network connectivity, (no network available message on display) I can't connect using 3G but I can with Wi-Fi, can't make phone calls, only way to fix this is to reboot the phone or switch airplane mode on/off.
I have radio version 5.08.00.04, kernel 2.6.35.7-59423-g08607d4.
I like this phone and don't want to swap it for an iPhone 4, but this issue is starting to get on my nerves, please let me know if there is a fix for this.

Root and flash cm7.2. Has more goodness than others. Then flash Inexus theme to make it eyecandy when look at and google apps package.

Ok, I tried everything and nothing seems to work, I reverted back to FRG33, but I can't root the device, everything fails, I can't go back to EPE76 or something else, I get the old version error.
I can't update to 2.2.1 or anything higher than that (including moded GRI40 versions) because I get the signature error.
Basically I can only install FRG33 or GRI40 (stock FW), the phone works fine on FRG33 but I would like to be able to install 2.2.2 (FRG83G i think), cause the 2.3.3 is just crap, reminds me of some older iPhone firmwares.
So, what should I do, cause i'm out of ideeas, please keep in mind that this is my first android phone when you explain something.

You can either root, or flash the updates one at a time:

Just for a sanity check, make sure that the files you downloaded aren't a zip within a zip, and MD5 check for integrity...

I checked the archives, everithing is fine, I done a factory reset and tried again with the same result.
I am on FRG33 now (I flashed the rom using passimg.zip copied on the SD), trying to update to FRG83, I got the ROM's from here. I receive this error:
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
This sh**t is driving me mad.
I got bootloader 0.35.0017 and it's unlocked.

You're unlocked?
Are you running a custom recovery (Ra)?
Have you turned signature verification off?

I bought this phone from a guy, and I don't know exactly what he has done with it before but when I go into bootloader (trackball+power) I get a line that says unlocked, I don't know exactly what it means, it's like the one in the attachment.

It means your bootloader is unlocked. Basically, you now have the ability to install images to the phone through fastboot on the PC.

After a few hours of reading and rom download I managed to update 2.2 to 2.2.1 using this rom "766a101ae02c.signed-passion-ota-60505.766a101a.zip" not sure where I downloaded it from but worked like a charm and then I applied the the updates to get to 2.2.2 (FRG83G).
And now, how do I root? I tried SuperOneClick, I installed the USB drivers etc, the software runs, it installs superuser on my phone, the SOC SU test is OK but I installed Terminal on the phone and the SU command returns access denied, also I installed Root Manager and it doesn't start because it doesn't have sufficient permissions, I have no pop-up when opening to grant root access to Root Manager.
Any ideas?

well there are many better custom roms then the stock 1.5 or 1.6 but choice is yours of corse
before you switch do you want to still be rooted? this will make a difference in what you do to go back.
also if you want to relock your bootloader as I am assuming you are unlocked and probably s_off or fake s_on
boot into hboot and write down all that is there (power on holding camera)
now boot into recovery and write what you see (either choose reboot recovery from hboot or power on holding home)

Yes I would like to be rooted after install a new rom, and for now I would just like to install fresh 1.6 stock, the rest of your post I'm not sure what you are talking about.

well I suggest reading up a bit about how android works before you begin, if you make mistakes there is a chance you can brick your phone. start by reading about the g1 in the xda wiki here (you'll find it easy) next google cyanogen wiki and look for the dream (g1) you will see some explanations of how to root etc. although you are not going to berform these steps I suggest you at least have a understanding of the process. also I would suggest looking for a glossary of terminalogy so you won't get confused when reading through this.
on a phone right now so you will have to google and search this on your own.
one of the main things I need to know about your phone is the radio and spl you are on (will matter how to change roms)
to check the simplest way is to turn off phone, then hold the camera button while powering on - this will bring you to your bootloader (also called hboot and spl - secondary program loader)
on this screen there will be information about your firmware, just simply write all of this down and post it here... after that we can keep going

OK, still I'm familiar with the process of rooting and installing roms, I own a galaxy phone and I use clockwork mod to apply my roms that way, and I install rooted kernels so my root is supplied with the rom. I am familiar with the terminology and such. But with an old phone such as the G1, is this bootloader the only way to install a new rom? Or is there a way to get RomManager working? Such as an older version of the free version apk?

you can use rom manager but I advise against it, with any phone really. its ok but you can run into problems and if you aren't familiar with the basics you can easily get stuck and not know what to do next, so with any phone my opinion on rom manager is stay away but it can work fine.
no, just like with your smamsung all phones have a bootloader of sorts and this kinda like bios in windows, think of it as the firmware that boots the os.
these are some reasons why I think you should learn some terminology and read up so I (or others) don't have to write up lengthy explanations of this stuff)

But this doesn't make that much sense, with my other Android phones, I just flash clockwork mod with stock recovery and then I flash a rom in, why does firmware matter?? Its a g1 so wouldn't I just be able to go in with stock recovery and flash the stock as an update.zip? Why is this information you need so nessacary?? If its and android phone, can I just install clockwork mod through stock recovery and go from there??

yeah I think it may be stock but branded to so chinese carrier, it doesn't appear to be rooted.
my guess, being you from us, you don't want to have a phone with an os ment for china, I couldn't tell you if its slower than stocked branded for tmobile but my guess is you won't have much of a speed/stabillity upgrade if you change to the tmo stock.
at this point you will need to downgrade and root your phone, you may need to make a goldcard being it is branded to china or whereever but I doubt it.

The phone does say T-Mobile on it. The only Chinese thing physically about it is the battery. Everything else looks just like the US version.

yeh well that is where they messed up in the rom, besides if you look at you build number rc83 is not tmobil
either way look @ the splash screen, that is not stock htc or stock tmobil - right now it is very very unlikely you are rooted, and that is why rom manager won't work - if you want to root your phone and if you want a different os then follow the guide, otherwise complain to who you bought it from that you didn't get a us branded phone

well if it has root your next step would be to verify what recovery you have, if it is stock change it to amonra (much better then cw on these phones)
easiest way to change is open terminal emulator and type
su
flash_image recovery/sdcard/recovery.img
of course you will have to have the .img on the root of your sd card and named recovery.img
after that you will have to upgrade your radio and spl to flash the roms you want

Ok so i just need to go into recovery mode and see which recovery im in, then if its stock, then put the amonra recovery on my sd card, change the name to update.zip, and use the terminal to flash it? Then just do the radio upgrade through amonra recovery? And then find the stock rom i want and flash it through amonra?

You will want to name it recovery.img
Yes you will then flash an updated radio in recovery, then flash an upgraded SPL in recovery. Know that flashing the wrong radio or wrong SPL can brick your phone, flash the radio provided in the cyanogen wiki, then the danger SPL, make sure to check the md5sum and that the radio was flashed first, do not rename the .zips keep them as they are (in other words don't call them update.zip)
After this then reboot to recovery, wipe all and flash your ROM of choice, although I wouldn't recommend stock as there are far faster ones with many more features

[Q] Help Flashing new ROM, Fresh Start needed.

Hi all, I have looked all over the place, I need help.
Here are my Current "About Device"

I have looked at the "back to stock" threads, multiple DL links are no longer available.
I had rooted, and Flashed a "Cube" ROM quite some time ago. A while after that I messed something up with the built in "overclocking" type app. Set it to the side and kind of forgot about it. Fast forward to know, I would like to get it working for my son to use, but there are a few issues that keep us from using it. I kept getting all sorts of random force closes, so I was able to get in recovery, and tried to wipe everything. This somewhat worked for a while, but now I am getting a force close from Facebook (which isn't installed, and I have narrowed it down to a contact synching issue) and I keep getting a popup for an OTA system update. I have tried to do the update, but I think the recovery is keeping it from completing.
Long story short, I know this device is a bit older, but where should I start from? I am ok with a fresh, wipe everything start. Not looking for a crazy ROM, but just a everything works ROM. I am ok with GB, ICS, etc, I just want it to be fully functioning. I plan on adding the tablet on my account so I can stop tethering for my son to use it. This has been the only device I have ever needed to ask for help, I am just not so used to the ODIN type stuff.

I tried to do a reset, and wipe from CW recovery. Then restore, it has been stuck on the black with white Samsung screen for about 10 minutes. Don't know what else to do right now.

There's a very new thread that should help you get back to stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383201
As far as what to put on it, I highly recommend this CM10.1 ROM. It runs very smoothly, but if you want to activate data, I think you have to go back a bit for a working kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043421 The CDMA version is the p1c.
I don't know if you have come across this yet, but unlike any device I had flashed before, the GTab recovery has to be flashed with a corresponding kernel. You can't just flash the recovery to get into recovery.
