Every 2.2.1 ROM I have ever flashed has this problem and I have never found a fix for it yet, the haptic feedback straight up sucks. On both the capacitive buttons and the on screen keyboard the vibration is just super weak and faint. Yes I have my haptic intensity all the way max, I can post a screenshot if you don't believe me. If there is anything that fixes this please let me know. Thanks

It's a known issue with most 2.2 roms. Cognition 4+ and fusion fix this issue probably due to the fact they are based off captivate kb1.
Actually there is a way to do it. DesignGears did it with Cognition 3 before KB1 was released, but good luck getting him to tell you.

There has to be a way to increase the maximum... Many like to shut off the feedback, but I liked the feedback that came with 2.1 Samsung keyboard. Maybe there is a way via HEX editor if someone knows the address....
It's fixed in CM7 as well so it's definitely a 2.2 problem. I had the same annoyance when I used 2.2 but just got use to it.
I think this can be adjusted in the system table of settings.db... you are probably better off getting a dev to do it for you in a ROM instead of trying to adjust it yourself.

I'm fairly new to all this droid stuff and been learning all kinds of stuff from this forum. I have one big question and that is what is the difference between JF6 compared to JH2/JH3? My captivate has JF6 and I've seen the firmware updates for the others. Is there any major improvements or am I better off sticking with what I have?
I think JH3 is quicker and seems a bit more stable, its also newer.
One thing to watch out for is the logging that comes with JH2/3. There are some easy remedies to fix it though.
Im currently using JH3 matched with unhelpful's 1.2 Kernel v1.1 and SRE1.0 My phone is performing the best it ever has.

how is your battery performance now with jh3.
the gps on jf6 for me is amazing i've only used it twice but both times it was all good, very accurate on maps, so i hope its the same or better if it can get better.
Battery performace seems normal, maybe draws a bit quicker with the overclock.
GPS locks in 4 to 5 seconds. Then again i have some tweaks built in with SRE.

Now for the second lesson. Put this in the Q/A subforum, not Dev.
And if I was able to move my own thread I would've fixed it as soon as I posted it but I can't. Also I know the difference between droid and android. Guess I won't try and shorten words anymore. Btw thanks to the ones that actually answered me.

is there any way for the advanced power menu to be disabled while the camera is in use?
the modded camera (that every rom has now) has an auto focus mode where you hold the power button to focus the middle of the screen so you dont have to tap the screen.
the problem is when you hold the button to focus the Advanced Power Menu comes up.
2 mods messing with each other...
Yeah, that's annoying. You can still use the virtual shutter to activate auto-focus, but then, that kind of defeats the purpose of the camera mod.
I hope someone addresses this soon,. It's very annoying because pre-focussing doesn't work. It used to work on some of the Froyo roms....

Look in the last couple of pages of the andromeda rom thread. I think it was addressed there. A couple of users were complaining the same thing. I think they figured it out.

Lol, well that popup is what bothered me. But I did find out that if you take the camera.apk from 1.2 and replace the one in 3 with it through adb then it fixes it. My camera works great now!

I guess I missed that post in the main Andromeda thread. I just pulled the camera.apk from Andromeda_1.1_or_2.1_to_1.2_or_2.2_cwm.zip and it works like a charm on Andromeda 3. Be interesting if it works on other roms?
Here it is in my dropbox if you want to try it.
gotta love dropbox eh?
Hi All. Long time follower on XDA for the G1 (9 months after the G1 debut) but first time posting. I just recently did the 2708+hboot hack for the 14mb to flash and test the lastest ROMs. I've tried everything that is currently available for download on XDA development and found that Laszlo 5.2 to be the smoothest and fastest (just as fast as Super CSDI).
I read through the entire post to see if anyone has experienced the same thing as I did, but no one really did. This ROM is amazing and everything is working great, but one thing. My question is--The Audible selection and screen lock sound do not work. One person ask about the screen lock sound not working, but no one answered. Is anyone else getting this problem besides me and is there a fix. I flash it several times and on 3 different G1s and get the same results. Maybe the download of the ROM I'm flashing is slightly corrupt. Any thoughts??? Thanks everyone for all your help through these years keeping the G1 alive and still amazing.

wish i could help you more but i have no idea what that is haha

im not using that rom at the moment but as far as i know the sounds were working.. is he using a kernel with it? maybe its messing with it..
Don't know what you mean by "Audible selection", but I would guess for the lock/unlock sound you need to install the audio from addons (since it contains the file). Type "addons" in terminal and follow the on-screen prompts.
The Audible selection and screen lock sound
what is this?

Hi Adam, your the Man!
Thank you so much. Your suggestion fixed it. I was playing with Super Aosp 6.0 when you made the suggestion and I was very hesitant to flash again to find out that it might do nothing. But the speed of Laszlo was just to good to not find out, so I did and I'm glad I did.
I'm surprised that hardly anyone knew what I was talking about. So to clarify, if you go into Setting>Sound and then scoll down a bit you will see Audible selection and Screen lock sound options. The Audible selection is when it makes a 'Click' type sound when you select something. That extra audible feedback is very helpful.
I was going to just put up with Laszlo 5.2 even without sound if I had too, but I'm glad I don't.
Now I can finally stay with this for awhile to see if it is stable as well as fast.
Thanks again.
Rick
Whenever I touch the screen on my slim ics captivate, there are just random touches around, it took me about 10 mins to write this, random letters. Would get pushed

I am not familiar with the slim ics settings. So there may not be a seeting available. you might try to change the screen sensitivity or a different keyboard.

I've seen this happen on a different ICS ROM on my Captivate. It is intermittent, i.e. goes along just fine and then a period of "stutter" typing and then back to fine. I guess I'll try a different keyboard as the other person suggested. I'm currently using Smart Keyboard Pro. How about you?

I switched to that one yesterday. No problems *yet* but not nearly long enough to be conclusive.
found out it was a third party charger, if you guys have one, thats your problem

Hmmmm..... I haven't experienced it since switching to the stock keyboard. But, it's so intermittent, it's hard to call that conclusive. I think I'll switch back to Smart keyboard and see if the problem comes back.
What sort of third party charger are you using and how did you come to that conclusion?
Have you tried flashing your cap to docs Master ROM? You will not be let down. My only complaint is the call quality.
Using Doc's Master ROM v7: Cappy edition
Now that we have root, does anybody know if there is a way to adjust the intensity of the haptic feedback/vibration via a build.prop edit or the like? I remember back in the One X days we could adjust the brightness of the capacitive keys by editing the build.prop so I was hoping we could do the same for the vibration intensity. Any ideas?
Bump. Anyone? Is there a way to just disable the vibration altogether? Any devs know? @jcase perhaps?
I'm assuming it's going to be somewhere in /sys/devices but there's a lot of stuff to go through. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be eternally grateful.
Going to bump this thread daily until someone chimes in. So..... BUMP.
I know trickster mod has the option but the kernel needs to support the feature. I took my back plate off and tightened the screw and theirs a difference. That will for sure void any warranty you have but I couldn't stand the wonky vibrator. You should be covered by warranty anyway so you could always unroot and send back

Thanks for the tip but I'm not about to open this bad boy up. Sending back isn't worth it considering I would likely get another one that has ridiculously loud vibration. Gonna keep my fingers crossed that someone has an answer for me.
