T-Mobile QIK - Tested working for FFC Video Chat - Thunderbolt Themes and Apps

I just tested the T-Mobile branded QIK and it seems to be working. I have attached the apk. I tested it against a myTouch 4G so I'm not sure if it will chat with others. Test if you please.

Video chat force closes .

Didn't here. I am running a deodexed Rom as well but that shouldn't matter.

It works, but when u request a video.chat it FC, can we pull qik from EVO?

tried 3 times on my boss' thunderbolt and worked. Tried my cousins evo f/c. Wierd.
Computer to mobile is really more important to me though. Still good find.

It's working on mine. Rooted/running Perfect Storm ROM.

+1 I'd love to call my friends on their computers but Skype doesn't want me to and I need a replacement.

Seems to have installed and allowed me to log in and it found my Qik contacts and sync'd them to my contacts which was very cool. However, no one on-line to test it.. Ohwell, maybe tomorrow.

This worked for me on my Thunderbolt. I have stock rom rooted.

The HTC EVO Qik works also, I like it better because it's not branded =P
The only thing I don't like is that neither seemed to work over 4G only on WiFi...it gave me an error that to video call it needed 3G or better, the Thunderbolt was set on 4G and nothing. It only worked on WiFi...anyone else having the same issues?
Attached is the latest Qik for EVO

Same error on mine. Nice to see the EVO one up here. Really would have thought it would have worked as it's a CDMA device as well. Ohwell, would be nice to see QIK make a version for the TB. My buddies Motorola Atrix had an Atrix version of Qik available on the market on launch day for the Atrix. What a shame!

nope tango and i have the same problem. it actually worked calling a vzw iphone but any other thunderbolt of android phone i have called the audio doesnt work and goes in and out.
I emailed the devs for fring to let them know that it was not working properly. They have been very prompt in their responses so far and even emailed me an updated version of the app to test and see if fixed the problem. Unfortunately it did not and emailed them back. Hopefully I will hear more info from them tomorrow.
All these video apps are garbage. Waiting on skype to fix its hacking issues to install it.

Video call on GTalk

AndroidCentral has a version of Google talk that allows you to video call but you must have gingerbread. Can anyone port this over 2.2 can support it?

Could attempt it on a test build on CM7, works there from what it looks like.
Just wanted to chime in here on the subject.
Did some searching today and it lead me to the threat linked above, downloaded and flashed through rom manager. First boot took a bit longer than it usually does, thought I got stuck in a boot loop. However, I can confirm this works on the lates pre-alpha cm build!
I had to create another google account to test it out, but low and behold it actually works!
I didn't see any other posts in the thunderbolt forum acknowledging this so I thought I would let you all know.
A family member of mine has a stock tbolt and I got the latest BAMF GB Tom on mine. She texted me today and by her info in the text I had the green video camera. I hit it, it called her and I could see and hear her. She doesn't live in a 4g area nor hooked up to wifi at the moment, but for whatever reason, like I said I could see her and hear just fine. So looks like it might work from 2.2 to 2.3 with better circumstances. Hopes this helps.

I finally got gtalk video and audio working for two way calls on gingerbread
The solution has been out, but I guess I just didn't do a good job of googling. Flash this Google Package File in recovery after wiping cache and davlik.
You can also just read the thread where I got it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793. The same file is listed under "to install" step#2, Alternate3.
After installing this, my Gmail app was missing so I installed it from the market. I had to install the thing twice before it finally worked b/c it force closed on me with the first install.
I haven't tested the calls on wifi yet, but it was clear on 3g. Only gripe I have is that the camera view is rotated.

Skype video chat?

Does Skype work with the front facing camera for video chat? I'm thinking of getting the D3, but have heard mixed responses as to whether skype works...
There's no video option on my installed Skype app. Disappointed.

Theres many options besides skype.
Do tell.
How can my wife and I (both new D3 owner's) video chat with each other?
Thanks

After today's experience I am not so sure. I connected with a buddy of mine that has an iphone 4 on AT&T....we were both on wi fi....he has 15 down and 15 up....I have 50 down and 50 up.....it was super choppy.
But....when I connected to my wife's D2G it was perfect....but we were also connected to the same exact wireless. Would be interested in testing with someone else farther away that is on wi fi and then again on 3g to post actual review of Tango on the D3.
still cant believe we dont have google talk video. That was like half the reason i bought the phone!
Ok! Good news everyone
Skype video works on D3 now, but not the one verizon or the marketplace provide.
3 simple steps to have skype video:
1. Download the apk file of Skype version 2.0.0.47 from the internet
2. "Clear data" for the existing skype app on your D3 (in the app management)
3. Install the apk file and enjoy skype video on ur spanking new D3
I must say, the video quality is a lot better than my Thunderbolt. It is probably because of the 2 cores
Now, if only Google took itself more seriously... sigh!

i have found yahoo messager to be my choice for video chat.
@triggerftu
I have found skype offering better framerates on my D3, compared to yahoo messenger. No clue if it is the case across the board or just my D3. I would prefer gtalk video, though, since most of my friends use that. So, I guess in the end it all comes down to who u want to chat with and what they use

Same Problem here
I'm having the same problem here. I am able to see the user on the computer, but they're not able to see me. I performed several re installations and cleared the cache multiple times, is there something I am missing here? Not quite sure how it is working for some and not others.

waht differences do you notice with them ?
Are you asking the difference between Gtalk + video and Skype + video? Or the difference between the verizon Skype vs. market Skype?
The main notice between market Skype and verizon Skype for me was that I couldn't uninstall the latter. I've read a few threads that mention market Skype takes up less memory while running but I think the measurements are marginal at best.
Gtalk + video is just win anyway, the only downfall I see is that Skype has a larger user base.
Gtalk and skype. Skype is crystal clear and good audio so im not sure what advatages gtalk has
