I keep getting this error while trying to download anything from the Market.
"The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I'm running JH7 with SRE2b6 and this morning flashed the evo blackbar minimalistic v1.2 theme. I'm assuming the minimalistic theme is the culprit for this, although before JH7 I didn't have this problem while using it, though I themed that through Metamorph and this through stock recovery. Any ideas on how I can this fixed? Thanks!
I should also make note that I'm not able to access any of my images via the Gallery anymore... I tried flashing a different Minimalistic mod, tried using ROM Manager to fix permissions, all to no avail. Haven't seen anything else posted on here that I could try, hesitant to reload my Nandroid that is a couple days old :/
I've had this same error many times. Everytime I had to nandroid back to a backup weeks old as it only happened like every other month. For future reference all you need to do is nandroid backup complete wipe and restore.
I tried everything else and nothing worked including installing the rom on top of her over again, reinstalling the kernel etc. The only thing that worked for me was the above.
Clear app data?

So is there a on click root for 2.2 yet? I have the leak on my motorola droid. I want to root without doing all that extra stuff and have a recovery image so that I can flash different roms.
afaik there is no easy root or on click method to root 2.2. I don't believe there is even one in the works. Rooting the manual way is honestly very simple, just read the full guide before you start and its pretty fool proof.

Thanks! could you post a link to the directions for rooting motorola droid 2.2?
Man I'm at the shop and can't remember which guide i used. Just get on droidforums or any number of the big android forums and search they all have guides. If you still need it when i get home tonight I'll find one, but they're easy to find

After step 22, download Rom Manager. Open it, and the first line is to flash Clockwork recovery. Do this. Then create a backup of your phone from the Rom Manager app. After this, browse the available roms, and pick one to flash. Simple as that. I would advise to download your first rom without any themes. You can theme it later, and sometimes there are issues with rom manager not loading everything in the proper sequence. I would also suggest not going above 1ghz for the kernel of your first rom. Just get something good and stable, and once its on there and loaded how you like, fix permissions with Rom Manager and reboot. Back THAT rom up, and then experiment with kernels and themes.
Once you have a good backup to return to if things go bad, you can try hot-swapping roms (no data wipe) and if things don't pan out, just reinstall backup and start over. Simple. You'll be flashing several times a day in no time.
I personally recommend Sapphire from the CVPS folder in Rom Manager. In settings, you can select Gem Settings, and there are options for overclocking customizing colors, equalizer, etc. If you do the paid version of Rom Manager, you can go into Bgills folder and get his Sapphire themes. My current fave is Incognito. This is an option when you first grab Sapphire rom, but like I said, there are issues with it loading out of sequence, and causing the dialer to force-close in a loop.
Actually, universal androot, I believe has actually rooted up to and including frgg2d, or whatever the latest froyo build is, hope this helps.

Why is that download so damn slow?
Mediafire is a real good Hoster to download directly to my cellphone, but for now, it downloads only with 5kb/s . Just boring :S
I hope this Version works for me, until it's down in 6 Minutes^^
EDIT: Does not work :/

are u running 2.2+ android ?
honestly I'm running CM6.1 final with 2708 kernel/hack
I never tried installing manually and created the flashable update and it worked like a charm on CM6.1 Final 2708
It simply replace Vending.apk to the newest version and chmod 644 /system/app/Vending.apk also...
You do need a recovery that accept test-keys AKA rooted & unlocked BUT why aren't rooted yet ?
Thank you
This looks great. No problems I just flashed and it works great!
I got this to work by going into "Titanium Backup" and on the MARKET app, chose the wipe data button, then un-installed the old version of "Market".
Then I rebooted and ran the update.zip and it worked!
Hope this works for you!

I did even release a 2.3 sdk port to G1 since so much ppl were kindly asking for it
Nothing worth a mention IMO lol
I'm gonna give a few of my spare time to G1 dev <3 paste your adb logcat on pastebin so I can check
That would really help

does anyone have a flashable version of the froyo market so i wont have to wipe? thanx in advance
I'm wondering how to flash this onto a phone o.o
I'm new to the flashing, rooting etc stuff ><
Edit : Continued searching and found out it has to do with recovery mode. Just cant figure out how to switch to recovery on galaxy 3
Did a nand backup, flashed the zip, rebooted, FC on Market before even launching, launched Market and a white screen. Restored from nand to get back up. Running OTA 2.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811620)
Any ideas? Manual installation via ADB?
To save you the trouble of putting the adb method , you can refer to my post .
It does the same thing but manually and its working for sure (Eclairs and Froyo ) : )

Cheers !
I just got this OTA update for market. I just backed up my old market, then installed this from the SD like a regular app. I didn't have any problems or need special permissions. Maybe someone could try this if they're having problems with the flashable or adb.
Two threads?
Ok so someone else started a thread for this in the development section which I thought to be weird, just wanted you to know, here is the thread. Personally I would rather just have one, yours : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872526

did exactly what he did here, nd works like a charm
is this flashable to sd card? I have cyanogen 6.1.0 android 2.2(froyo). Its probably a dumb question. But I'm asking this because theres another thread which indicated on his post that he didn't make his flashable. And its similar to this except that one runs on adb. So I'm wondering if this is flashable?

same rom..same problem
even doing adb doesnt work
Okay. So i have my g1 rooted. With froyo 2.2 cyanogen 6.1 ROM. As you may know, it doesn't come with google apps. So market isn't available. I've been looking all over the web. Trying each and everyone's market.apk and market.zip . All doesn't work. I tried normal install from a file manager. Nothing. Tried adb process. Pushing it. Still not working. Tried android command, still not working. And finally, your file, which i flashed. Still didn't work. All of them I got the same. When I open market, I just get a white blank, then after 5 seconds, goes back to the desktop screen. Any ideas to help me? Would really appreciate it.
Or I was thinking of doing this. Reflash the stock android 1.6 with root and then try the market. If it works, use nandroid back up. And then flash cyanogen 6.0 froyo 2.2 and restore the backup that i made with the market. DO you think that will work?
succesfully installed on my g1 cynogenmod but the market get fc when i try to download

Just wanted to post, thank you. Running SS4.9 on a droid, was having problems getting this app to work until your post. Downloaded and renamed to update.zip and so far is working like a charm.
Thank you very much.
I recently rooted my fascinate, installed Super Clean v0.9 and the StupidFast v1.54 kernel. Now how do I go about installing a new theme? When I try to download themes from ROM Manager I get "error occurred while processing this ROM". What am I doing wrong? I see these screenshots on the forums of the awsome themes but I don't know how to get them. I've tried reinstalling ROM Manager but no luck. Thanks in advance.
BTW, my phone is running great with this set-up. Fast. 14-hour battery. No lag.

well, the good news: the hard part is over! Certain themes are only compatible with certain ROMS, so start by typing the name of your ROM followed by themes and see what you get. Probably a list on droid forums, usually.
Then it's as easy as downloading the .zip onto your computer, putting in the root of your sd card, reboot phone into recovery, mount SD card, install from .zip, look for the .zip on the list, and install. Obviously don't wipe any data.
Is there a hero root method that works via wireless ADB or through a img file in stock recovery? The USB port will charge but is damaged and won't connect to the PC. I'd like to root it and can't... It has the latest update....
I know it's taboo to reply to one's own post but given 216 views and no responses, I thought I'd post how I figured out how to make this work given it took me a few hours researching.
I downloaded z4root and let it do its thing. It installed superuser and gave me s-off.
I downloaded busybox installer to make sure I had the latest busybox installed.
I could not get flash_image from terminal emulator to work so I downloaded rom manager apk from XDA (I couldn't find it on the market)
I used ROM Manager to flash clockworkmod recovery.
I downloaded zero hero tweaked and put it on an SD card. I rebooted into recovery and flashed zero hero after backing up the stock rom.
With Zero Hero installed, rom manager is now in the market and I downloaded the most recent version and re-flashed most recent clockwork mod.
Now I just need to find the fastest ROM.
I haven't yet overclocked or looked into any of the kernels just yet. That is up next.

Dude... Slow down. Read.
Our rom has the latest kernel already installed. No need to look for others. It's our .35 that took ages to get right and is the official CM kernel now.
Read all of the available roms additions. Some have this kernel and others don't. Some of the "fastest" roms are our aosp builds.
Personally I use Zero because its what Sprint would never give us and is totally possible to do. Which is why dastin and I set out to make it a good as we could.

Thanks for the information. I have read a ton of your posts and they are quite helpful... I read for 2 or 3 hours last night before I finally found all the "angles" to get rooted and flashed without being able to connect via USB.
Zero Hero is quite nice. Impressive, I must say... I'm sporting a Hero until the next HTC device arrives. Hopefully the oneX will launch on Sprint soon.
Thanks again for all your hard work, roms, etc., in this forum.... I wouldn't have gotten it all figured out without some of your helpful posts throughout general, Q&A, and development.
The Hero is always my go to phone when I'm in a bind. It never lets me down.
