Question on # Arrow # [ROM][JS8][3/24/11]Continuum v4 - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I was wondering if i did something wrong when flashing, I flashed me phone yesterday, love the rom, but the battery life stinks, today I have been off the charger for 3 hrs, 1 20 min phone call and check download my email and my battery is at 73%. This morning before I unplugged my charger I went into oxdin and removed battery stats to see if that helped, any advise would be helpful, I did flash to stock with oden3 one click and I had 85% battery and plugged in charging when I flashed to this rom. I want to keep this rom as it is super fast and no issues found other than the battery
Thanks in advance for any help
Tonyzz

I would give it another day or so. It can take it a little while for the battery to settle in. if that doesn't work you could try flashing another kernel or modem.
Just a few opinions...

yes like the previous post
you have wait for few days cz it takes tym recalibrate battery stats. couple of charges and discharges will fix the battery drain

Thank you,
I'll give it a few days and see if it fixes itself, this is the best rom I have tried and would hate to have to change as everything with it is how I would do it if I had a clue how to custom a rom
Thanks
Tony

Like the others have said give it a few days, my battery life VASTLY improved after 3 discharge cycles. Also, another thing to check is the cell standby and make sure that you're not having the 50% time without signal bug. I had that this morning and it drained 20% in barely over an hour.

Severe Battery loss

Sorry for another thread on battery life but u need help. I am loosing severe battery while idle. Just lastnight I lost 60%. I have a I897 using cognition3.04 with firebird kernel.
I have wifi,Bluetooth,GPS off. Using juice defender, and no task killers. And have callibrated my battery, and do not see any roug apps. Battery usage said cell standby and phone idle were using most of the battery.
Im at a loss. Thanks for your time.
Check out my thread below you
I had alot of questions answered in it, take a look.

Ultimately this thread has all the instructions to cal your battery after flashing a new ROM.

Everyone has been helpful on this forum, thanks again to all!
Also, the STICKY thread at top of this forum is VERY USEFUL!

Thanks i saw your thread already. I flashed back the stock cog3.04 kernel and modem and did a battery recalibrate. After fully charging and wiping stats last night i lost about 8% (~1% an hour) conpared to the 60% before, so im happy. Im at 45% after using it all of today, Ill see how the meter works after the full drain after stats wipe.
Im pretty sure most of that came from the kernel change, does anyone know any other good kernels.
Same thing happened to me with cognition even after battery calibration, just switched over to Phoenix ROM and its fixed.

Some ROMs use more, some use less. It also depends on kernel, not just ROM.
I have the ROM in my signature below. When on glitterballs kernel, i had 1% drain per hour. On xcalibur's kernel, I have 1% per ~2 hours. Try changing kernel n see if that helps.

[Q] Does battery calibration work?

Hi,
Just a quick one and any responses from personal experiance would be great.
Has anyone used an app to re-calibrate the battery? If so did it help or did it seem to make the battery life worse?
I had a major drain on my battery so did a complete reinstall of tweaky ROM and the drain has stopped. Just wondering if I should bother to recalibrate
Thanks

Calibration did not help me, I have the same stamina... JVH + Criskelo v56 + CF-Root 3.2
from those many many times i have tried to do calibration in all possible ways that has being suggested even waiting a few days for the cycle to end...
my conclusion its bull**** it depends on the rom or apps that are running ....
the only thing it does it shows u 100% when u finish charging in case u dont see it already.
Does it work or does waiting two weeks for battery to settle down work .
jje
My findings are similar to JJE. After flashing a ROM, it will take 4-5 charge cycles (just charging every night, nothing special....may run down to 0% after first charge) before I see a stable, decent battery life.

Ditto, I try not to judge a ROMs battery appetite until about a week, espescially if I was to lazy to flash at 100%.. But I think that is what is meant by battery calibration..
Ok thanks guys, think I'll wipe battery stats next time I flash a new ROM 100% battery

[Q] Battery life

Hey
I've had my Mini for two months now and I've calibrated the battery at least 15 times and somehow I still get battery jumps (sometimes as high as 25% jumps)
Does anybody else have a problem with battery calibration??
Also, is it safe to leave the phone charging overnight or is there no charger protection in this phone??
Thanx

Hmm.i dont know about the charging protection but I think it had one

Thanx for your response, I'm noticing now that my battery's reporting wrong, I've tried 4 different battery tools and all of them report 4mV when they should report 4250mV (or something like that)
Is anybody else seeing this behavior??

Could you clarify this for me???.....'Cause I don't know what you're talking about
In my opinion too much calibration is not needed with liking battery
My problem is not due to excessive battery calibration, it's due to battery reporting errors, I keep seeing percentage jumps and the voltage is also wrongly displayed

Upgrade ROM maybe can solved that problem
And after installing new ROM calibrate again once!
I've had the same problem with 4 different ROMs (FroYo stock, GB stock, Andro-ID and CM7).
I'm starting to think that it's a physical battery problem

[Q] battery gauge problem

hello
after flashing a few roms, my battery gauge is messed up.
the things i noticed, when my ace turns off deu to low power. the gauge shows 0%.
but when my ace shuts it self down and i plug in the wall charger. the battery gauge shows me a percentage around 75%.
the things i have done to solve this problem is deleting battery stats by cwm and a calibration app nothing did solve the problem.
also i have let the battery drain to zero and then charge it up to 100 and let it drain to zero again. also that didnt solve my problem.
so i flashed back the stock rom by odin. also not solving the problem.
is ther another way to solve the problem
Get a new battery.

The problem is not with your battery. It's with the battery notifier in the ace. It works well for a time and then goes absolutely crazy. Whenever your battery gets low, about 10% for example, connect the charger and charge blindly for 3 hours. Don't worry about the 100% notification. Try your battery now. It should be fine now. But if you're using battery extender kernel, there's a bug in it that brings down the battery for 50% in a short time after using.

i`am on stock gingerbread, the phone is about two years old. i also noticed that when i turn of my phone and pull the battery out for about three minutes en then put it back in the percentage is higher. so i do think that the battery gauge is messed p but when i use a calibration app to solve it, it gets worse or doesnt change. when i use code *#*#4636#*#* the status of my battery is good. im thinking to buy a new battery but i doubt that it would solve my problem.
Calibration is all fake. Do as I said and you'll definitely witness the results.

Hi, I have the same problem with the ace of my wife. When I charge it, it says 100% after 10 min charging !
And when I use it not charging, it drops down ...
I try to let it charge longer, but is that sure that the battery continue charging even if the notifier indicates 100% ?
I'm on [ROM] CM7.2-DEMOCRACY FINAL EDITION .. is there also a kernel to change to help ?
Thanks for your answers, by default I will let it charge for 3h.
PS : is there an app to check the battery life ?

in dialer u must enter the code *#*#4636#*#* there will appear 4 tabs there is one for battery tap it and you wil see the health of youre battery.
Guys, forget about battery level notification, etc. Any app doing so would collect the info from the android itself. Just do as I said. Everything will be fine.

I've the same issue. I charged it for 3 hours, it's not fine, it goes to 50% in about 15 minutes, and when I reboot my Ace, it drop to 15% !
I noticed that when I turn it off and charge it, the green battery indicator is at 80%...
Any idea ?
I tried differents ROM such as CM10.1 CM10 CM9,PAC, same issue.
I bought my wife a new battery @2000mA and she lasts 2 days now, so the answer seems to be the battery-life ...

CM 9, 10.1,PAC consume battery like hell, but not that much also.
If there r such huge drops that too after charging the fone for 3 hrs then i guess there is a problem with the battery.

Yes I thing the battery is dead, it's slightly inflated...
I too have the crazy battery problem, but funny thing is if i were to ignore the indicator and just use it from a 3hr-full charge till it dies off, i could achieve 2.5hours of internet surfing (wifi not 3g). To me this is good enough, all calibration fixes do not work for me. Any suggestions?
PS: I have the system time problem too with S'perience Rom, Eg. when i shut down the phone at 1pm to remove the simcard, after booting up the phone the time shows 11am. This happened to me more than 5 times this week. I dono if it's the rom or the battery that gives this problem. I dono about how it was when running stock rom because this phone does not belong to me. Any help is much appreciated.

Try a full discharge and then plug your phone until it is fully charged, finally without unplug it boot into CWM and wipe battery stats, finally reboot and charge it until 100%

[Q] Reboot causing a huge battery drop...

I'm not gonna ask any questions about why batteries drop so fast because i figured that out. Now my battery's draining 1.5%/hour on idle. That's good. The problem is whenever I use my phone continuously for an hour or so, there would be a major significant battery drop when I reboot it. I tried waiting for the battery to recalibrate but it doesn't. Not to mention an average use would eat my battery by 10%/hour or more. Other than that, whenever I let my phone on idle until it's at 40-30%, the battery level suddenly goes to 1% when I use it and my phone would shut down.
I am using Greenify donation version, and Amplify.

Sir,
You have already pointed in 2 other thread by me and my colleague @Darth and now you must know where to ask such a questions.
Please, for last time, wait for mods to move this thread in the right device forum.

I have same problem. Well, not exactly the same, but similar
When I reboot my phone, my battery drop about 25%-40%. For example, it drops from 40% to 15%. After that, my battery drains normally to 1%(for example after 1 hour of SoT) and that last 1% last for 1.5-2 hours of SoT It's so crazy
I also have a Xperia V
I have the same problem and when I run the camera app it reboot
