Hi there.. I'm a newbie in this HD2 forum as I'm just helping my friend to flash her new NAND rom.. But what I've found is the there is no stock apps such as youtube or google maps.. and I don't know how to download it either as Android Market don't have it.
Please reply here ASAP.. your help is much appreciated.
EDIT: Tried the method on downloading the file from Android market on computer.. Failed. Any ideas?
Google 'gapps.zoo's for the stock Google apps.
As for the Market, you can't get it unless it came preinstalled in the ROM.
but you can try to find it.

If you have Market the google apps have to be installed by looking for the app and then installing one at a time. I have always used adb and fastboot or the pm (package manager) command from inside the shell before I came here as I work for a board vendor. and I know it is possible to also to extract the apk from either /data/ or /system from another board or a zip of a ROM. Internally Market maybe using the pm or am api of some sort and using the market uri instead of a local file.
the seasoned ROM cookers usually have some type of provision to get market onto your phone, a flashable file or some other method, pongster's roms and I think cyanogen's as well allow you to get market after you have flashed the rom.

so I rooted my buddies phone and I don't want to sign in using my info he had a bunch of apps and I need to reinstall them without going to the market is there an apk installer I can get somewhere?
do you have all his apks avaible, or it all need to be redownloaded? if you have them all already, you can just install with any file manager. but if you need to redownload, try using slideme, it's an alternative market and they have an app as well you can download from their site. http://slideme.org/
Please don't make multiple threads for the same issue...
Hi I just upgraded my Rom to the official one from the HTC website and it seems that I am missing the Android market application. Could some one please post a link for that. my friend i had a similar problem , cuz i am in a country that google does not support it .... " forbidden " but i find out y the android is the best by allowing any app to be installed freely
the solution is >>>> go to www.getjar.com and search for Bluetooth ftp
or take this one that i have on my pc get the attachments SAM.zip
and download it . its an app that allow you to browse your phone and send and receive files from other people , to install an app you have to download the apps into your SD card then open it using this pro and the android package installer will start ...
later if you want a a better android browsing pro I recommender The Linda file or Astro file manager
if you want more apps just search the getjar.com
or softonic.com or 4shared.com and you will find any thing you want

How does that help him with the Android Market??
yes, I have the same problem. Could someone please show us how to retrieve the android market.
If you guys used the search you might figure out that this topic has been answered many times already.
Because of misunderstandings between HTC and google was the first non-google branded HTC Adroid mobiles without the market.
The market cannot be backed up using ANY application backup tools. The market require core functionality there isn't in the most sea magics.
You need to wait for an update from HTC there includes the market or flash a rom there got it.
Okay, I am no longer a thread starter virgin...
I'm currently running Damage's 2.1 v5 and when I was running Flipz's Eris port I was able to download the FiOS app for control of my DVR, however since I've moved to the sprint leak, I can't find it in the market. Is this because I'm not using a verizon verison of 2.1 or more likely my protected apps aren't working right?
Anyways, I've pulled the info from both /system/app and /data/app and the only things in there was a zip that had verizon's name on it no apks that were for the FiOS app, so I signed the zip, put them on my sd card and flashed them. Nothing happed....
So, can someone running 2.1 from the Eris leak or who's protected apps work correctly get me an apk for the FiOS mobile app? It's a free download...

Just make a nandroid (nandroid+ext if you use apps2sd) and flash an eris-based rom. Download the app, and use Backup For Root Users (free from android market) to back up the app (check apk and hit "backup") then nandroid restore to the rom of your choice. Download backup for root users from the market, check apk, and hit "restore". The app is now in your app list. Hope this helped.
I'm running a G1 with Cyanogenmod 6.0. Every time I download Street View, it gives me an error that it cannot be installed. Anyone know how to resolve this issue?
Wow. No one has any ideas?
Delete the original streetview.apk using root explorer or adb then u can install the new one from the market

I did that and still cannot download the new one from App Brain or Marketplace.
I had this problem, managed to delete the apk and reinstalled fine. But when I open navigation, there's no pegman like on the desire running same versions.
Is it compatible with G1?

Hi guys, Im trying to get the Google News and Weather app (GenieWidget.APK) from Nexus S, or other newer version, running. I have an older version that does not auto update, so it kinda sucks.
The new version is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13473045
Ive tried dropping both the APK and/or ODEX file via file manager, also rebooting, but the files are not there afterwards. Im rooted and using FileExpert app, which is granted superuser Im told via toast message.
Also tried direct install of the APK, but again no go --> 'Application not installed' error.
Im running the Mosiac III ROM.
Searches have not helped so Id appreciate some help!
You might wan't to try Root Explorer from the market. Its what I used to install the genie widget. It is pretty easy to use. All you have to do is copy it into your system/app folder and there you have it.

but do i need to delete the old one? Is necessary to change the permissions of the new apk? If yes how?
If the installation is failing you are going to need to adb push the application to your system/app/ folder and then it should work... I am also looking for the new geniewidget.apk (sorry for bumping an old thread).
