Hello I am trying to install the froyo swype into JPK. Copied over the files (Swype.apk and libSwypeCore.so) to /system/app and system/lib. It starts ok but i get limited functionality (no languages available).
Does anyone know if it is possible to make a Froyo Swype work in Gingerbread?

hey you guys,
i'm using a rom i created which is based off dwang 1.17.1, and i'm trying to get the eclair browser like in cyan's build. to run on dwang.
i tried adb pushing... Browser.apk to /system/app/ and libwebcore.so /system/lib
but i reboot and it hangs on the initial start up screen. is there something i'm missing? or is there a bigger issue like perhaps an incompatible framework?
thanx in advanced

the libwebcore.so is also dependant on a certain framework (though I can't remember which) jar and you'd also need libskia and libskiagl from cyanogen's build to get the browser to run.
Thanks for the reply
When I get home imma push thoses libs to the build and I'll post back with the results

You grab the swipe file from: system/libs/libSwypeCore and the file from: system/apps/Swype.apk and put them on your SD card.
I can't post them it's illigal and against forum rules, but you can pull them off any stock rom with Root Explorer. To install them just put the 2 files back in their original spots after you do the Vibrant hybrid install.
Hi guys,
I just installed JH3+SRE+Lagfix and my Swype is broken, I have Samsung Keyboard and Android Keyboard as well as Swype as options in the settings, both work fine but Swype is "dead", I see it but I can't interact with it, I touch and nothing happens lol
Is there a way to fix this or do I have to reinstall Swype, if so, how?
Many thanks
Hello,
is it possible to use the old Swype from Eclair on JP6? I tried getting the Swype.apk and libSwypeCore.so, but the language list is empty and Swype produeces a warning saying that it is configured for a different device and that it will have limited functionality.
Any workarounds?
I remember doing it for JPH, but I must be doing something wrong this time.
Hi all,
Does anyone knows what are the apks, lib, data etc for the Input functions (copy paste etc) in Gingerbread 2.3.3, DXJV9? And could you please post them here. Or an update.zip in CWM?
I would like to overwrite them to see if it can be restored to default.
Recently flashed a custom ROM and have an issue. When I use the input function (entering text etc) and click on the pointer, it only shows a partial view of the image (with the words "Select text, select All, Cut, Copy, Paste etc", totally hidden below the pop-up. It is like a new image overlay on top of the old.
I am on DXJV9, Gingerbread 2.3.3. I flashed chebon v1.3 without this issue (but I like to have the extended Power down menu)
I flashed erobot ROM v2.1 DXJV9 and Jose galaxy ROM DXJV9(based on erobot ROM) which caused this issue so I think there is a way to restore to the default but I cannot figure out what are the apks doing the input functions.
Thank you.
No one can help? I am sure the modders will know. Please advise.
I was told by another member that this issue might lies in the "framework-res.apk". So I am planning to replace it with a stock original.
Do I have to get specifically the DXJV9 version (My ROM is based on it) or any firmware version will do?
Would it have any problems since I am using a custom ROM?.
I have no idea what framework-res.apk does.
Please see attached for my error and see if you can advise.
Thanks!
The original Android 2.3 update for the Captivate came with a new email client. Or updated version anyway. This client blows any other one I've seen out of the water. Does anyone know where I can get the apk for that? I am running Serendipity 7. I downloaded the package with the Samsung email but its the version that was prior to the 2.3 upgrade. I have been looking all over for this.
Why not just use K-9?

The one that came with the Captivate update is 10 times better than K9. I briefly looked at K9 and didn't really like it.
extract .apk from any stock KK4 .zip CWM ROM - Nostalgia 2.2, Fasty, Saurom, Apex - it's under /system/app stored as Email.apk
Thanks, I think I have the correct files. I tried to install the .apk, but it failed. I am assuming that it needs to be deodexed. I am very new at this, but I found a program called xUltimate that is supposed to do this for me. I am going to give it a try.
Did you just try to install it regularly? Cause that won't work, you need a root file explorer, a terminal emulater, or adb and put our on /system/app then reboot.
Yes, I tried to just install it regularly first. I noticed that there was an .apk file and an .odex file, so I figured it needed to be deodexed. I took a look at that xUltimate software, but it wasn't as self-explanatory as I had hoped. Maybe someone can provide some decent instructions on how I can install it.
