yelp for android

we finally have yelp for android!
right now its just read only but hopefully we will get all the iphone features after version 1.0

I don't really think the majority of us care.
It's not that isn't a great app or anything [well right now it really is a bad app] it's just by the time the iphone and Blackberry devs got there head out of there ass Android developers already published better similar applications.

Yelp is a great way to find a new place to eat, want to impress a date with a nice hotel or searching for a decent spot to throw back a few. There is rating feedback on a restaurant, bar, club or just about anything you can possibly rate. Yelp trying to jump on the Android market is most definitely a GOOD thing.
If they see support from our end I am sure you will see updates and added features in the near future... IM IN!!

I don't know about the rest of the world but I can confirm that there is a uk version on the official webiste look on the top right corner. Try the app, change your location.. if that doesn't work for the uk then just go to your browsers address bar and type "www.yelp.com"
Why the hatred towards the U.S. xda members? We have no control on what these developers do with THEIR apps?

It struck me how many apps I *can't* see.
The Android Dev Challenge winner: "SweetDreams". I can't see it.
Pandora? Nope. (Can't buy music outside the US, either....but I stopped buying music years ago when the stopped treating me like a customer).
Photostitch (paid)? Nope.
...and so on. I can see a lot of the paid apps....but the gaps are annoying.

we've had where for a long time, which has yelp built in...

I thought where took out the yelp reviews? It was the reason I uninstalled it. Anyway, Layar's Yelp layer is pretty good for me.

You're correct just used 'Where' 5 mins ago and it clearly says Citysearch reviews. Its kinda annoying when people don't get thier facts right before posting.
Yelp has helped me find alot of interesting food places and saved me money avoiding certain ghetto and low-class nightlife locations..

Of course it should be corrected, but should be done in a courteous manner.

Yelp is a very good app, been treating me well and syncs addresses with Google Maps flawlessly.

looks like yelp for android might get better quicker than any of us think....or perhaps incorporated into google places?

I'm on the ultra-secret Windows Mobile 12 team and I can only tell you that the images in the OP are actually from our current build of Windows Mobile 12 on the Touch Pro 5.

Who is kenis? Anyway here are some newer photos I found online , they look different? Maybe I fell for a hoax or maybe not. About the leak your refering to , that could be a leak just to throw everyone off. Maybe this will be a video game system and a phone. When I get more info I let you know. Thanks for the replies. Ok an honest mistake and I feel the heat . Like I said sorry for the leak. About the other dude I check out on of his threads it seems like he was banned. I guess he wasnt well liked around here and with good reason. This is my 1st cellphone and Iam pretty new to this. I like video games and wished for a game system that you can play games with so I got excited. Is this the response you get here when you make a mistake.Wow dudes chill out lol!!! Anyway I stick to posting games and apps I like. Hopefully I get a better response that thank you all.

If you're looking for gaming on a touchscreen phone do a search on Morphgear skins.
Here's the best one for WVGA devices right here.
More than likely what you're seeing is an ugly (in my opinion anyhow) skin for morphgear or something similar, not the leak of some new phone.

Regarding XDA my friend, big sigs envolves more server space. That's why we emphasize in this matter with members.

Just kinda thinking out loud here (not the best thing to do but oh well!) Wouldn't it be nice to have an XDATV show about some off the apps that come from XDA? (SetCPU ect)
Or just an XDATV show dedicated to app reivews, Like SassiBob's segment but as a full show?

Ohh I love the idea of a How-to video! That would go down well with the people who are not as tech savy as the rest of us Not sure about a live Q&A though, that would depend on having a big crowd that interacts & I have a feeling that with XDATV in such a young age it would fail to attract the crowds needed. But I think maybe a top5 show? Like top5 Apps or Top5 Roms?

Maybe this is silly.... But, what if an episode was dedicated to some "issues" (like OEMS locking the bootloader, developer's thoughts on fragmentation, the suit, between Google and Oracle and it's effect on Android and the Linux kernel....)?

I just like editorials and there are many issues in the Android Community that can be very polarizing.

XDA Developers forum users are way too damn pretentious and immature in order to host a live Q and A - well said, guy who said that above me. XDA is too young to have that kind of crowd.

I had an idea on a show for how-to videos as well. I'd love to do some!

I do however follow HTC news like a puppy dog, so maybe I could do some videos on HTC news? I'm talking ALL news. ROMs, Phone rumors, new releases, OEM firmware updates. I'd love a chance!

My idea for How-To videos was that there would be no set host, but anyone who wants to make a how-to video for noobs could do it. The videos would specifically show from factory to rooting and installing any given ROM on every device xda supports. The footage would be sent to me and I'd edit it to make it as short as possible without leaving anything out, and then it would be uploaded to xda's Youtube channel. If any of you are uncomfortable with speaking or being seen, that's fine, I can do the voice-over. Like I said, going from unboxed to flash-ready as fast as possible is all you'd need to do. Then each of these videos could be placed in each forum's noob sticky.

Man, I'd do it. You, me, and Bob. Put it up on streamly.tv and we're set. Having a live show in general would be fun to do. Sure, I might answer a few questions with "I don't know, go away," but that's why I'd just be hosting it. We'd have guests that came on each week to answer questions. And I'd just smack any pretension that peeked out. Or Bob would. Yeah, Bob would. Plus, there's nobody better than her at keeping things stu...non-pretentious.

My only concern with covering news from outside xda is that its outside xda. I'm by no means a decision maker here, so press on and see how far it goes. I'm sure with a live show we'd be covering general news for a want of content. But we don't embrace a brand as a community, we develop on a large number of devices from a wide array of carriers.

[REQUEST]Apple vs. All timeline?

Hey all,
Recently I have been researching the big hub-bub going on where Apple is suing everyone in sight (my poor attempt at humor). Next thing you know, the guy that invented the Slinky will be getting a subpoena to testify for Apple. I have been VERY busy with the crazed thing I call a life and need a little help here. I am not very delved deep into this massive debate going on between Apple and Google, Samsung, HTC. The thing I request is a "timeline" to loosely term it. Don't automatically discount me as some "lazy" person. I just need the expertise of someone with their nose in this doggy doodoo pile, so to speak. I don't really ask for much, but I haven't followed the battle since the start so my ability to effectively chronologically order the major lawsuits and actions taken by all sides is next to nil. I don't need anything fancy, hell a text file written with Notepad will do, as long as the information is FACTUAL and ordered correctly. If you feel like composing a flashy Powerpoint then by all means do so, but it's not needed. The major points will be elaborated upon and condensed in a 15-20 page Powerpoint by me. Anyways, back to work since my professors getting on my a** about being on XDA.
