Wifi problems

Hello, Not sure if has been posted, but i cannot seem to find an answer.
I've flashed to to CM 5.0.7.1 and i've noticed that my wifi doesn't seem to stay connected. I can connect fine and use wifi, but if i leave my phone sit for an hour or so my wifi will disconnect. I've checked my sleep policy and i DO have it set to never sleep.
I can't confirm if this was happening also before the flash.
Any info woudl be greatly appreciated.
Thx
This is an known problem with 2.1 and 5.0.7 doesn't help fixing it. There is no fix for this i'm affraid other than installing an app that automaticly connects you to Wifi again when the phone drops the connection (don't remember the name). If it really is a pain for you, upgrade to Froyo coz there it is fixed.

[Q] WIFI connecting intermittently. HELP!!!

Hey Everyone
I recently installed XXJVB (2.3.3) onto my sgs and it works really well. my only issue is that the wifi connects sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. This happens at home often and is really annoying.
Does anyone else have this problem?
And does anyone know how to fix it?
Thank you for any reply's
I haven't experienced it.
First thing to try before you go any further.
Turn off everything that connects to your Wi-Fi router. Unplug the router from the power supply for a minute, then plug it back in. When it boots back up, see if the problem still persists.
Also, Have you tried a factory reset prior to or after flash?
had that issue when I played around and installed a cpu tool from the market: my wifi acted up same as yours. As far as I could deduce it was because the power/sleep settings were altered -- beyond my pay scale. Uninstalled the offending program and rebooted: the whole system was hickey and media scanning was an issue. So, did a recovery restore in cwm and all is well again.
Suspect the issue is the set up for power management. sleep policy and the other internal setting sin the kernal being out of phase with each other. Do a retore to the last stable system you had.
I have also leanred the value in doing a complete backup before I play with any new themes and mods: that way restore bails you out!
Did you notice that on version 2.3.3 wifi sensitivity worse that on previous version?
Using "Wifi analyzer" application I found that on Gingerbread kernel signal weaker then on 2.2.1 by about 10 db.
I've tried to use modem JPY (from 2.2.1) instead of native JVK but it didn't help.
It looks like somewhere there are wifi parameters that should be configured properly.
SOLVED
Thank you everyone for you input
@electrotune1200
Thanks for your idea's. The whole turning router off and on worked. i feel rather stupid cause i have to do that often so that i can get my laptop to connect, never even crossed my mind to try it for my phone lol.
Thanks again everyone

[Q] Xperia Z: Serious WiFi/Bluetooth Clashing & Crashing Issue

Hey guys,
I'm having zero issues with WiFi when using it on it's own, however, when using WiFi & Bluetooth at the same time, I'm having major problems.
I've contacted Sony, who suggested a software repair using PC Companion. I did this and the issues were resolved in the short term, but they've come back pretty hard.
So, this morning, I gone done a bit of a stress test on this, and here you go;
* Time is 12:27pm
* Battery on 62%
* WiFi has been on since 10am, for 2 and a half hours, and has NOT disconnected once.
* I've just turned on Bluetooth.
* Smart Connect starts up, connects to MBS-100, starts playing.
* Now, I will commence browsing.
* Time is 12:31 - 61% - Bluetooth disconnects.
* Time is 12:32 - Bluetooth reconnects, walkman continues playback.
* WiFi adapter active, however I have zero internet connection.
It took 4 minutes to disconnect...
* Time is 12:34 - Bluetooth still turned on and media player playing over MBS-100.
* Battery is 60%
* Turned off the WiFi adapter (as it is still on, despite no connection).
* Turned WiFi on again.
* Internet connects, browsing commences.
* Time is 12:38 - 59% - Bluetooth disconnects.
* Bluetooth reconnects - Walkman continues playing.
* WiFi adapter still active - NO CONNECTION.
It took 4 minutes that time again!!! And now I will repeat this one final time;
* Time is 12:40 - turning WiFi off... Turning it back on now...
* Open browser. Start to browse.
* Checking out Kotaku, Gizmodo, Engadget, Techcrunch, Xperia Blog and one or two other bookmarked mobile websites...
* 12:48 - starting to experience issues loading pages, some are loading very slowly...
* 12:51 - Pages not loading, Bluetooth disconnects. Bluetooth reconnects, music continues playing.
* 12:52 - WiFi adapter still turned on - NO CONNECTION. 'Web Page Not Available'.
Took 11 minutes this time.
WiFi settings says my router/network has been 'Saved, secured.' But has disconnected, when I tap on it it asks me if I want to Cancel, Forget or Connect. Tapping 'Connect' does nothing.
So I'm losing connection to my router/network every couple of minutes (4 mins, 11 mins, 20 mins...) while Bluetooth & Walkman are playing, and it will not reconnect. Can only be reconnected manually by disabling the adaptor and turning it back on.
Any feedback would be great... If it's a matter of changing things in my settings... I notice an Auto IP support opyion which 'Assigns Auto IP address if DHCP fails' (currently unchecked) which I haven't turned on, as I have no idea what it does... During these tests, Location based Wi-Fi is turned off, location services were turned on. I had the issues previously with location services turned off, so it's not this.
Appreciate any comments!
Thanks,
Willy
Any comments, suggestions, thoughts? Anything...?
I've tested this again with Auto assign IP on and off, and I experience the issue with both settings regardless, every 4 minutes.
Seems to be a pretty serious issue, my phone crashed and rebooted twice today while doing these same tests.
The second i turned the Bluetooth adapter off, after the WiFi crashing, the phone froze, went black, and rebooted.
ANY help or comments or thoughts would be great, thanks.
I'm at a loss.
WiFi is perfect on it's own, but in combination with streaming over Bluetooth, I get nothing but FAIL...!!! Every 4/5 minutes as per the tests detailed above in my OP.
In my opinion id get it replaced with a new Xperia z
You could do repair via pc companion
Or hard factory reset.
Heres one try disable LiveWare manager.

Have you tried using different BT devices and on another WIFI network?
Also try and do what DarkKrypt suggested, if you still have the same problem after the factory reset, bring back your phone.
Thanks both!
Thanks both you guys!
I have repaired the handset using PC Companion, tried resets, at the recommendation of Sony Support, however, the issues returned a few days later.
They have since suggested I send the phone to them for repair, which will take at least 7 days.
However...
I tried with WiFi on and streaming over Bluetooth to my MBS-200 last night, and couldn't replicate the issue. I'll try again, but it seems I'm only getting the problem with the MBS-100 (first generation).
Maybe it's some deep rooted coding issue or Jelly Bean Bluetooth protocol that causes issues when connecting to the MBS-100?
Although I doubt this is the case, because Bluetooth has no issue with the MBS-100 when WiFi is off.
It's only when WiFi is turned on that I get the issues detailed in my OP above...
It does seem to be a pretty strange one... As I couldn't replicate the problem with the MBS-200 last night, although I will try again. The phone is perfect in all other aspects, LED perfect, WiFi perfect, Bluetooth perfect, etc. So I doubt this could be repaired, as it seems to be a more deep rooted issue regarding compaitibility with the MBS-100...
If I have any similar troubles with the MBS-200, I will report them.
Thanks for your thoughts in the meanwhile, and appreciate any further comments or feedback!
With regard LiveWare / Smart Connect, I will try the MBS-100 with these disabled and see if the problem continues. Not getting the issue with the MBS-200 though it seems, with Smart Connect enabled.
id send report to sony about the issue with mbs100 maybe they discover the bug and fix it in the next update
thanks
Sony aren't that helpful, the admins on Sony Mobile put me through to Sony in Ireland, so put me through to the wrong people.
I've reported the issue, so they have my details, the issue I'm experiencing, they just want me to send them my handset, and I
don't agree that's required, because it behaves normally at all times, apart from when connected to MBS-100 over Bluetooth while connected to
WiFi. I've told them this, it's clearly a bug, as the Bluetooth and WiFi work perfect with other devices, and independently of each other.
Other users on talk.sonymobile.com have also backed up the same issue I'm experiencing, without using the MBS-100, and that as a rule of thumb, they can only use Bluetooth or WiFi independently of each other.
So they have acknowledged, and are well aware of the issue, my thread on this subject is the most popular thread on the Sony Mobile Xperia Z forum.
I'd like to test this a few more times over WiFi and with the MBS-200 and maybe another Bluetooth device, before I can possibly come to the
conclusion that it's something more than an MBS-100 compatibility issue.
Just for transparency, I've tested the Bluetooth/WiFi/MBS-100 issue with SmartConnect turned on and off, and the problem happens regardless.
Other people elsewhere on the net have indicated that this is a JB 4.1.2 issue, and have experienced the same thing with Asus products.
from my side i never had wifi problem except a perfectible low signal but work perfectly untill this weekend
now i'm not able to switch ON the wifi and the bluetooth
the "virtual switch" when put to ON is in light blue instead of bright blue and came back to OFF
same for the bluetooth
the only thing that i've made special this weekend is to connect to facebook application not yet done since i have the phone ( 2weeks ago )
i'm with the C6603
when i scroll down the top icon bar sometime i see the wifi icon trying to connect and finaly nothing
i would like to say that it doesn't linked to my wifi router or something external to the phone because it simply not activate wifi and bluetooth so not able to see any devices
i've not yet try a factory reset because i don't want to loose things
Smart Connect
Have you guys tried force stopping Smart Connect and then clearing data for it?
I had a lot of problems with wifi disconnects and now that I come to think about it I had some problems with bt in my car also but when I did the steps above it started working perfectly again(I don't think I even needed a restart of the phone).
If Smart Connect is the culprit for more people then Sony Mobile should really check out what the heck is happening with smart connect that make wifi/bt stop working correctly.
Bluetooth/wifi conflict for xperia z
EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM GUYS...
Unfortunately there's been a serious issue with the bluetooth and wifi working together.
Notice, it is happenning only with bt headset device not eg. when pairing with another phone and send/receive files.
Unfortunely, sony is not dealing with that professionally. They have a nice product which they should support it and for that issue they should change the phone. i have that issue after i send it to sony service and they told me that they fix it, but nothing...
It is happenning form the beginning and because is the second xperia z (the first got damaged the first month...), i must say that with the same bluetooth device sony mw1 i had NO problem at all in the 1st xperia z but in the 2nd xperia z it was conflicting from day 1...:crying:
If you have any idea, or you solve that issue please reply.
thanks

Exactly the same problem with my one too. This is a serious bug from the 4.3 - .569 version rom. Sony is not thinking of fixing it soon for Xperia Z, but new version 4.4 Kit Kat is on its way with awesome theme and performance. However, z1 did get the better 4.3 update and the launcher theme is simply superb. I am jealous, but if there are any techy guys around, they can move back to 4.2.2 until Sony releases the new update. Unfortunately, this is the only solution. Otherwise, DEVs in this forum must port bluetooth and wifi drivers from 4.2.2 to the 4.3 version and release the rooted stock roms for us
I've gone back to 4.2.2 due to bluetooth issues. Tried most of the roms on 4.3 and it just wouldn't connect right. Will wait for 4.4 now

Sorry guys, I was only having this issue on 4.1.2, I'm on 4.3 now and not experiencing any issues. Bluetooth skips occasionally but that's all.

Hi Stewartk,
For the same reasons as you I tried reverting to 4.2.2. ( Xperia Z 6603, 10.3.1.A.0.244/ 10.3.1.A.2.67 ) but in all cases the Bluetooth and WiFi are ok BUT ... the mobile data transmission behaves funny - only Youtube can access the Internet, all other apps think it is not connected or cannot connect to specified (working) web pages. Could you hazard a guess why this might be so ?
I'm having the exact same issue on 4.4.4,
wifi works fine alone, as soon as Bluetooth is ON, wifi starts to be weird.
5.0.2 and still same issue. i guess it is because of hardware.
5.1.1 Having very similar problem as OP. Having a bad/low wifi signal does interfere with my Bluetooth, but it's not disconnecting wifi. After like one minute of talking on the phone with a pair of Sony MDR the voice quality starts deteriorating when on wifi and works like a charm without, same when pairing with a soundbar platying music

If you can unlock your bootloader you can flash Zombie kernel and this should all be fixed.

Wifi turning off when phone idle or sleeping

I've got an annoying problem with my phone where the Wifi turns off when my phone is idle or asleep. This means my WhatsApp for Web disconnects and also my Moto Connect plays up too.
I've got the same problem at home, work and parents house so can't be an issue with all 3 networks. The keep wifi on during sleep option is set to Always before anyone mentions this to me.
Phone is running Lollipop 5.0 in the UK and is NOT rooted.
I noticed it doesn't happen when the phone is charging though.
Any ideas?
Right I've now tried changing the Sleep setting to Never but get the same problem.
Also tried connecting to the router via WPS but no luck.
Router is a Superhub 2. I've ruled out that it's the Superhub as I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini that is running fine without a single drop out.
Definitely something Moto X related.
I've also tried on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands with same results!
Try looking within the WiFi settings on the phone. Mine has this

Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
Mine is identical to yours other than the fact that I don't have the wifi optimization option.
Right I've just cleared the cache as instructed by Motorola support.
Still have the same problem even after clearing cache.
Ok I can confirm that the issue goes away when in safe mode.
This is starting to piss me off as I don't have any way of checking if it's an app affecting my wifi disconnections!!!
I've finally found and fixed the problem myself!!
I decided to turn my bluetooth on (even though it wasn't connected to any bluetooth devices). This seems to stop the phone from causing the wifi to go to sleep!
It seems like it's a bug in the Moto X Lollipop firmware. How do I report bugs to Motorola??
It's funny how most say it's apps that cause strange behaviour but for me it's been the actual Android firmware each time I've ever had an issue!
I hope it gets fixed soon.

It's a known bug of 5.0, and already fixed for 5.1. Source, at the "Bug fixes section".
Great that you found a workarround.
Cheers!
Manuel.
Hey glad to know it's a well known bug. The work around still doesn't work. It still keeps disconnecting all the time! Driving me mad!! If the 5.1 update doesn't fix it for me, I'll need to try and get a refund and go for something else. Shame as I really like the Moto X but I can't live with an issue as stupid as this!
I'm not sure Motorola are aware of this issue at all. See their comment below from one of their support staff I'm speaking to now:
Santhosh: We have not received any reports regarding Wi-FI issue after the Android Lollipop update but please give me a moment I will provide the solution for this issue.
His solution for the issue was to get me to do a factory reset lol. I already did this when I first got updated to Lollipop!!
Going to try doing another one now to see if it actually makes any difference. Then will install a few apps at a time or something.
I am connected to WiFi just about all of time, and I have never experienced this.
Right I've done a factory reset and started completely afresh with none of my data or apps restored. WiFi has been solid; I've not had a single drop out!
I'm going to install just a couple of apps at a time and keep an eye out if the issue comes back until I find the culprit.
Hi
My phone was perfect (until now) with the WIFI since november 2014 even after I upgraded it to 5.0
But today, it suddenly starts with this problem by itself. so I restored it to factory defaults with no luck, I installed a new firmware, and still has the bug.
So, why it shows up until now by itself without any mod, app or update?
Sorry for my English.
Today I upgraded it to 5.1 and the issue persists
I had to back to stock 4.4.4. and now my wifi has been fixed so far, working good without interruption until now.
I hope this has fix the problem from sourse, and I'll wait a few days to upgrade it again.
EDIT: Has been a month since my downgrade to 4.4.4. and my WIFI still rocks.
Just want to say that I'm having the same issue since the update to 5.1. Wifi is set to be always on during sleep, but I regularly wake up my phone only to find it connected to 4G, and switching to wifi a few seconds after waking up.
I'm on a locked bootloader (unrooted of course). I did a full reset after the update...
I'm sorry to say that I've seen more little glitches since 5.1 than anything I noticed on 5.0.
EDIT: another issue I'm having is the stock mail client not syncing saying that there is no network connection. My exchange account (push) works fine however...
Just to say the issue has started for me too since the update to 5.1.
I've done 2 factory resets but no luck trying to fix this very annoying problem.
Motorola have asked me to send my phone in for repair so I'll try that and see what happens.

WiFi/Bluetooth not turning on

Hello,
A few months ago I noticed I had trouble to switching WiFi/Bluetooth on on my xperia z3+ (lineage OS 14.1) : when I slide on the WiFi slider, it load "Turning WiFi on..." until it switch back to off by itself. I don't think it's because of software update because I actually stayed on the same firmware for a while where it initially worked then started having this issue. Updating didn't solve it.
What I tried :
-Google the issue, I saw other xperia users having the same problem on different models but I didn't manage to find a fix
-Safe mode
-Wipe everything and reinstalling fresh rom
-Tapping the WiFi button furiously for a while
I'm having internet problems at home, but I can't manage to share LTE to my computer successfully, and I suspect both issues to be linked.
I tought I should ask for help before officially declaring the phone physically dead, so here I am.
Thanks for reading, any answer is much appreciated. Sorry for the long post despite it just saying "WiFi bug plz help".
