SUPER SWIFTKEY
Hello Everyone,
Super Swiftkey is a version of Swiftkey which includes custom themes by me, @sonnysekhon and other very helpful xda members/developers.
We will keep it up to date by posting our modified version in the TBO updater as soon as an update to Swiftkey hits our Play Store.
I will update when TIME allows.
DO NOT REPOST THIS ANYWHERE...MANY DEVELOPERS GAVE US PERMISSION TO DISTRIBUTE..PLEASE HONOR THEM.
Beta will be updated only for research not every one will get themed.
ATTENTION EVERYONE:
FOLLOW XDA RULES...DO NOT ASK FOR ETA .........WE FOLLOW THEM ON PUSHBULLET....I GET NOTIFIED RIGHT AWAY....:highfive::good:....So if it's not a hard update it should only take a few min to check if anything changed in themes and drop our goodies in. Longer if they changed things or I have other obligations. I will report what's up. Ok now the education is over go have fun. [emoji14]

Did you replace entire folders in Apkmanager? If so, just replace the contents of the folders.
same error here
replaced all files except the fonts, but when compiling an error occurs
idea?
edit:worked for me
you dont have to change the whole folders,just the files inside.the it will work...
thx
Hi, after modding, the sizes of the alphabets appear over-sized. Upon checking, I realize that the mdpi-4 you had had some oversized icons. For instance, the "abc_icon.png" should be 50x50, however the mdpi-4 had 60x55. I am a little helpless here. The same problem applies with the drawables.
I will list out specifically the icons, and hope that it will help you save time:
These icons in both drawable and drawable-mdpi:
Size should be in 50x50 for the following:
abc_icon.png
alt_icon.png
delete_icon_preview.png
done_icon_preview.png
go_icon_preview.png
menu_icon_preview.png
mode_icon.png
mode_icon_preview.png
next_icon_preview.png
send_icon_preview.png
shift_icon.png
shift_icon_active.png
smiley_icon_preview.png
Size should be in 32x52 for the following:
btn_popup_key_normal.9.png
btn_popup_key_blank.9.png
I sincerely thank you for your time.
hey bro, its giving me some java errors and i even tried re-installing java to my computer so pretty much cant gewt it to work.... any ways you could explain about the process a little more. or maybe a pm with a file lol

Sorry about that, I overlooked those since I have a hdpi device.
You can resize all those images at http://pixlr.com/editor/, go to Image/Image Size.
I will update the OP to say that the MOD is for HDPI devices only.

Yes, also make sure you change other .9 images and keyboard background images. Basically I left it all untouched except for the preview images because those are shared in the hdpi folders as well.

Ok, I just tried resizing them. The problem is that upon resizing the black border is compromised. You have to recolor it again.
And it's not just the 2 images, you have to replace all the images in mdpi and with my WP7 images and resize them all. Then recolor the black border.
It's a lot of work. Get started I will try to help out when I have some free tome tomorrow .
i resized all the icons to work for mdpi, however i dunno how to edit the values in the public file in the values folder, and i get a error when i try and recompile the apk cuz it says the file sizes dont match up, any idea how to fix this? it seems to be all thats stopping me from having a full mdpi version of this skin

Can you post your edited images and I will be able to see what's causing the error.
Also, you don't have to edit the public.xml.

Note, this will not work if your SDK or the path that you place this in has any spaces in the dir name!
An Example of this is c:\users\Nikki and Stephen\sdk\tools
Try to put the SDK and the contents of the zip in a dir where the names are all together and not like the one above.
Ok, so I have made a batch file that will automate the entire process of setting up to use the signing tool made by JF. This batch file will set the CLASSPATH, set the PATH, install the registries, let you sign the files manually, and let you push/pull files to the phone.
In order to use this you should have downloaded the sdk already. Simply extract all of the files into the tools dir of your sdk, and run autosign.bat follow the instructions and go through the options one by one, starting with 1 working through 4. You can however, put the contents of this zip anywhere on your computer and it will work. It is just better to put them into the tools dir of your SDK. Especially for the consideration of future versions.
Enjoy,
Stericson

You are one hard working, man.
Thanks.
awesome sir! looking foward to using this great tool....in a virtual machine...with windows xp.....on my mac.....ha ha
Please let me know how it works. It works for me, but there are so many different computer configurations. This is also only tested and expected to work for xp and vista....I don't know if it will work for other o/s versions.
Stericson
will give it a whirl as soon as my cupcake is done baking.
Doesn't work for me on vista, running a 64bit machine, I think it has something to do with how my computer is set up though because of the error message I get
can you be specific as too the error message and what you are doing when it happens?
Stericson

Anyone have any idea?
Awesome work! Thank You! I got this to work the first time, and I can finally start to make a theme now. At least I had time to come up with some ideas.
I just want to mention that it was brandenk's thread that got me to look into this. Thanks to all that put in the hard work. Thank you Stericson.
Why isn't this a sticky?
Mac OS X?
Hi all,
There are a few Mac OS X users on this site that would like to do this as well. Obviously we can't use BAT and EXE files in our native environment, but we can use a UNIX-based approach. Does anyone have an intelligible or pre-packaged version of how to do this in UNIX? (I say intelligible because the Google document on this is pretty unintelligible.)
Question, I have a theme in my folder c:\sdk\tools. Do I need to leave the in a zipped file or extract it? The theme would be c:\sdk\tools\update.zip?
Leave it zipped and just sign the update.
I would love to be able to sign my new theme in Ubuntu 9.04.. Anyone know how?
p.s have been searching/reading until 2:30 am am and since 8 am this morning. Driving me nuts.
problem flashing update.zip
I am having some issues flashing my update.zip files. I am getting an error of not being able to find the update path. I am trying to flash a font that I found online. I noticed after signing the zip with the .bat file provided that there is a new folder titled "META-INF". From downloading other signed fonts this looks correct but the ones I have downloaded contain another tree of folders within META-INF that eventually lead to a file titled "update-script". I am assuming that is what is missing from my signed file. What am I doing wrong?
hmmm should be other files inside of the meta folder yes.....just do this, copy the folders from those other font upddates, assuming they are only font updates, and put them in your current meta folder. the update script should be the same.....
if any other problems just post your update.zip...one of us will take a look at it.
Stericson
im on vista and i keep getting an error saying
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
can anyone help me with this?
Hello,
I want to change to text color of the popup-menu from black to white.
Here's the reason why:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I changed the background graphics from white to black. So the text has to get white.
I just can't find a clue what file to edit.
Would be great if anyone could give a hint.
Thanks in advance!

To get the values folder it isn't enough to just unzip the apk.
You have to decompile it with APKTool. Then change the xml and compile it back.
However, I got problems with the latest version of the tool. My phone's stuck in a boot loop when compiling with it. The former version 1.3.1 works fine.
This issue is described here.
Also, you have to copy the Manifest file and the META-INF folder from the original framework apk to the new compiled one.
Oh, and another thing.
If you have a menu where you can click on a button named "More", this is what you get:
To make this text become white you have to change
Code:

to
Code:

I think.
Sorry guy,
but on this way i got the font in menu more not white.
Do you have any other idea to get the text in menu more white?
It doesn't work, if the textAppearanceLarge is black, too.
You can directly make it white via
Code:

#ffffffff

Thanks a lot Wallla, I've been trying to figure this out (expanded menu > white text) for a few weeks now!
so after doing that, how's your menu>settings>sound working...does it open?

What version of APKTool are you two using? (APKManager is also only using APKTool, in the inside).
Like I described in post #5: With the newest version of APKTool I also have problems. My device even didn't boot up any more.

I never used apkmanager. But I could guess additionaly to building the apk, it also compresses the PNGs, zipaligns everything and signs it.
I think I read about some of that stuff doesn't go well with system-files.
So, in conclusion, I would advise you to make a build just with apktool. It's really easy to use.
Oh, and don't forget to copy/overwrite the Manifest file and the META-INF folder from the original framework apk to the new compiled one, as I already wrote in post #5.

THEME TEMPLATE - CM9
WARNING: MAY CAUSE A SEVERE ADDICTION TO THEMINGI have received numerous requests about theming CM9 from various people, and after directing them all to my home forum where I have a template, a member here (ebs512) suggested that I post the template here because it was so useful.
Some up-and-coming themers have indicated that some of the experienced themers have been reluctant to help them too much with creating new themes so in order to alleviate both the flood of PMs that experienced themers have and the lack of help that the newbies receive, here is a CM9 Template for everyone.
It's currently only for MDPI and HDPI but Anyone can easily add XHDPI compatibility by using my XML generator, see directions at the bottom concerning Density and Compatibility
PREREQUISITES: YOU MUST HAVE APKTOOL INSTALLED
There are many, many tutorials on how to install apktool, just google it.
Directions:
1. Download the template from Mediafire (updated 7/20/2012)
2. Unzip the code to a convenient location
3. Edit the images, change colors, do everything you want to it
4. Choose the Compatibility you want by following the directions of your choice (See below 4.1-4.4)
5. Open up your command prompt
6. Enter the following command:
Code:
apktool b location_of_the_source_code_folder
and it will build.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
7. Don't forget to sign the apk before installing it
8. Publish your theme here or on Google Play
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for negative comments you receive if you create a terrible theme. Everyone has full permission to create themes off this template and distribute them (if you plan on creating paid themes, please also provide a free download in the spirit of open source).
DIRECTIONS FOR XHDPI COMPATIBILITYSince you are using apktool to build your theme, there are inherent problems that are unfixable. The problem lies in the location of the Preview.png that shows up when you open up the theme chooser. Leaving it out will let your theme be compatible with all densities, but you will not be able to show a preview.
4.1 To make compatible with HDPI and MDPI (and LDPI)
1. Install a framework-res.apk from a Samsung Galaxy S2 CM9 ROM by downloading the apk and typing:
Code:
apktool if location_of_SGS2_ICS_framework\framework-res.apk
2. Make sure you have HDPI and MDPI folders in the theme folder with the proper images
3. Place the Preview.png in the XHDPI folder, that's right, the XHDPI folder
4. Compile
4.2 To make compatible with MDPI only
1. Delete the contents of the HDPI folder
2. Move the Preview.png from the XHDPI folder (its default location) to the HDPI folder
3. Compile
4.3 To make compatible with XHDPI and HDPI
1. Delete the MDPI Folder
2. Install an XHDPI framework-res.apk from an XHDPI CM9 ROM (Like the Galaxy Nexus):
Code:
apktool if location_of_XHDPI_framework\framework-res.apk
3. Add Images for XHDPI to the XHDPI Folder (make sure they are named correctly)
4. Move the Preview.png from drawable-XHDPI to the drawable folder
5. Compile
4.4 To make compatible with everything
1. Open up the AndroidManifest.xml and add a backslash "\" before "@drawable/preview"
2. Add XHDPI images
3. Install an XHDPI framework-res.apk from an XHDPI CM9 ROM (Like the Galaxy Nexus):
Code:
apktool if location_of_XHDPI_framework\framework-res.apk
4. Compile
More information on how to theme certain elements is located in this wonderful guide by xda member nhnt11
I do not have a donation button, but if you feel like it, purchase one of my CM9 Themes (available on several forums for free) off google play
Please visit the original thread on my home forum also.
And... if you are really stuck and need to talk to me, send me a PM or hit me up on gtalk at [email protected]

Updated OP with directions about making your theme compatible with different screen densities. PLEASE READ those directions, because if you don't you will have problems applying it. Take special note about installing the proper framework-res.apk with apktool.
Thanks for this! Do you have any tips in regards to batch editing images for mdpi? It's going to take me a while to get through the 2587 images in the hdpi so when I've done it would be nice if I could just run a handy tool of some sort to re-size them all for mdpi/xhdpi.

Batch resizing is a bad idea with all the .9.pngs, but if you want you can batch resize non-.9's. Batch recoloring is very simple with Photoshop (which I don't have).I use GIMP to batch edit. There are a couple plugins for it, but I use a script and edit using the command prompt. If you have Photoshop though, use that, it costs a lot because its the best. //Advice

I'll just do what i usually do and go through one by one where I don't already have an image to replace and batch what I can. I do use PS as my main editor along with Paint.Net for certain things.
Thanks.

Get adobe fireworks for batch editing if you just want to change the color...otherwise if you use gimp get a plugin called bimp (batch image manipulation plugin)

Could anyone please kindly help upload the template to another file host service?
For some reasons I was unable to download it from mediafire.
Thanks!
I updated the theme template. CHECK the FIRST post.
CHANGE LOG:
* Themed the volume sliders and other sliders
* Fixed the problems with inverted apps not showing up correctly (most of them)
* Removed some unnecessary images from the template (cuts down on size)
Enjoy. I'm glad to see a bunch of you using this already, glad it's helping
Do you know how to fix missing assets? I know I can ignore it, but it's just annoying. btw, those lots of redirections at redirections.xml are really needed? I've never seen any theme like this.
4.4 To make compatible with everything
1. Open up the AndroidManifest.xml and add a backslash "\" before "drawable\preview.png"
This is confusing because preview.png isn't in the AndroidManifest.xml.
The correction is "\" before "@drawable/preview"
There is another thread with the how to make a T-mobile theme which have more detail what can be themed, see link. A reference to the post is helpful for beginners.
Please update the first post.
Thanks for posting.

Introduction:
We all know that Android from ICS+ provides big beautiful contact images that are visible, obviously when someone calls us...
While all this is good... I noticed multiple ROM's extending the black screen below the animation over the image to display the subtle call accept/reject animation. And now that's not a good thing... bear with me, "personal opinion"... So here is a guide to get rid of this...

Hey, I have flashed the zip that you made on my HTC One V running CyanogenMod 10 based Omega Reborn 2.5.0 ROM but this mod is not working as I cannot open my dialer because it constantly says that "Dialer has stopped working". I have restored my old Phone.apk and now the dialer is working fine but I really want that transparent incoming call mod. Please, tell me how to fix it.
Thanks to Ticklefish for redirecting me to the Tickle my android thread. After a long struggle with my PC and the tool finally I was able to do a modification that works ando doesn't leave the stock battery percentage.
This is my first work, What I present here are 4 mods taken from TMA and compiled by me for the Xperia T

Always make a backup of your ROM so in case of any errors, you have a point to go back. I'm not responsible of any damage you do to your device.
FOR JELLYBEAN MODS
It is recommended that you flash recoba23's small buttons and gregbradley's version of peetr_'s lidroid mod before flashing any of JB Mods, this mod will not reset your navigation buttons to big size, so no worries
.
Always it's recommended to wipe cache and dalvik before flashing
PS: Stencil battery does have a charging icon but it doesn't show up and i don't know why, nontheless it works perfectly.
Mnimal Circle DOES NOT have a charging icon/animation.

Ok, Not sure what it could be, Thats the step that most people fall down on.
Anyway. At the weekend I will have a play with ticklefish's tool as I want to mod my battery anyway so I might throw a few more together. The problem with doing requests this way is because it needs the systemUI.apk I can post that but it will change any other mods people have (Eg my toggles or small apps that need some sytemUI tweaks) so the only way to do it is to take uploads from people.
Thats what UOT kitchen does, so it may just have to be stock systemUI i mod then you will have to add other mods back manually

That's what Tickle My Android does as well, although it has different icons available and can do more as well.
It is possible to create an update.zip that just changes the battery icons and associated animations. The problem with that is that it's very rom-specific. Battery icons can be stored in two different apk's and in several different folders. To make a truly universal update.zip, you'd end up making one that's far too big.
But it is feasible if you're just doing it for one particular rom.

I'm also gonna look into Tickle my Android. I've been trying to integrate the circular battery with the 14 toggle status bar mod. I'm partly there but as I'm new to this there's still a lot of kinks to work out. Replacing some images is only half the story...

PS: Isn't there a mod with the 2g - 3g toggle and working battery mod (the circular one) LOL
