Video call not operating properly with Darky's Rom 9.5 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have just done a wipe, disable voodoo lag fix, and reinstall of Darky's Rom 9.5.
Unfortunately, it did not solve my problem.
During an in coming video call the front facing camera does not operate but it will work for out going video calls.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Same thing on stock JL2 so not necessarily Darky's ROM - have only played a bit between two samsung galaxy phones but seems video from one direction at a time and not duplex and it depends on who calls who.

Change your rom .

I also video-called between the same two phones when they were stock roms and I did have duplex video calls happening. Now it is only on the out going caller.

Which rom do you suggest? Or should I risk the Rom Kitchen?

is FROYO a big jump from ECLAIR+OCLF

I have been very happy with my Eclair firmware on the Captivate ... especially since I installed OCLF.
The only problem is the stupid imprecise GPS. Yes, I have the hack that changes the server to google etc. etc. etc ... it still is not accurate.
Before the jump in need to get some clarity ...
- is the FROYO upgrade going to fix the GPS problem
- is FROYO faster than ECLAIR + OCLF
- will FROYO allow wifi tether (I currently use barnacle on eclair to provide wifi access to my iPAD). Does AT&T charge for the tether ?
A No to all of your questions.
No, froyo will not fix your GPS problem.
No, froyo is not faster than eclair + OCLF. You'll have to do another lag fix on froyo as well.
No froyo will not allow wifi tether natively. You have to make changes for it to work.
the big benifits of 2.2 are FLASH video and "voice search by google" aka voice text input. FING sucks at names from your contacts BUT FING ROCKS!!! @ inputting text into messages and email. blows swype out of the water!
if anything install a custom rom, they greatly IMPROVE GPS not fix, improve
2.2 anything YES is better than 2.1 even stock (minus 3e recovery but that too can be fixed easy)
custom roms support wifi tethering
The lag fix on the market is utterly worthless.

Well what do you know. something we agree on. The OCLF is pretty pointless now.
It depends on whether your talking about custom roms or not.
The custom roms all seem to do something for the gps, some more than others, but your pretty much assured it will be better.
But if your strictly talking froyo from samsung, then no.
If you get a Custom Froyo ROM, it's a resounding yes to all of your questions. I have near perfect GPS, my phone dances around any other one I've seen, and my tethering works perfectly.

I personally use Perception, an old ROM from DG, but it's been discontinued. I'm just a stubborn old fart that doesn't want to upgrade something that is working just fine the way it is. Pretty much any of the ROMS will give you the features I mentioned, but each is themed in it's unique way. I like Perception because there was little theming done to it.
Oddly for me, GPS WAS fixed when I updated to Froyo...
My 2.2 upgrade fixed my GPS and my phone is snappier. I use Launcher Pro instead of TW and I noticed it felt quicker and more responsive. The flash support is a bonus as well.
If you don't need to worry about your phone and have the time - a custom ROM could be a good way to go.
I happen to be a person who relies on my phone every day for work. I don't have the time to experiment with custom ROMs or can I risk having something not work correctly. I stick with stock for that reason or else I would be flashing a custom ROM.
ive flashed almost every single custom ROM up in here and for my captivate andromeda and firefly have been the only two ROMs that improved GPS, stock eclair and froyo i couldnt even get a fix or see a single satellite, with those 2 custom ROMs i get a fix within 15 seconds even in cloudy weather. ive only been an android user for 2 weeks and custom ROMs are they way to go for this phone. better improvement in every which way over stock
Previously, I was on stock jh7 with oclf and was not very.happy: always rebooting the phone, looking at what processes were running, was considering installing a custom rom, etc... Then I installed official froyo and it's like I have a new.phone. No noticeable lag, the phone is now really fun to use instead of.constantly embarrassingly slow.
Gps is still terrible.
Edit: I am on official froyo with no lag fix

Can you elucidate at all? A coworker of mine was running the same custom Froyo on Captivate, as on my Captivate. He used OCLF and saw his benchmark #s doubled. I tried it and it can't complete (and backs out).
What have ye to say about OCLF?
OCLF was file conversion from RFS (Samsung) to EXT2. The latest file system lagfix is EXT4 which helps Froyo with lag issues and even some GB ROMS.
RFS is now getting mature enough that it's can run fairly fast and smooth without a lagfix (aka file conversion from RFS to EXT4).
At one small time OCLF was relevant. It is no longer.
If you insist on sticking with 2.2 look up Serendipity 6.4 or Firefly 3.0 in the development section and install one. You'll forget all about OCLF.

Headset not working during phone call with Darky's Rom version 9.5

I have just done a wipe, disable voodoo lag fix, and reinstall of Darky's Rom 9.5.
Unfortunately, it did not solve my problem.
The headset works fine for audio from mp3 or video
but does not work incoming or out going calls.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
One ask darky
Two dont use that rom plenty more on XDA .
Three check your headset on another phone .
jje
how do we ask darky directly?
Please explain what "don't use that rom plenty more on XDA" means?
The headphones are working perfectly. There is no connection to the headphone from the phone during a phone call. There is a small call tone that comes in with the in incoming call and once it is answered it does not connect. All sound is just on the phone as if the headphones were not attached.
Loads of roms on the development page this is XDA forum .
Darky has forum ,,has posts ,,has chat thing ,,,read his pages .
If the headphones are working then its the fault of the rom you installed simple choose a different rom or build your own in the rom kitchen is my advice .

Some how it is the rom that affects the headphones connecting during phone calls. I installed darky's V10RC3 and the headphones worked perfectly. I then went back to 9.3 and the problem was there again. I went back to 9.5 (the problem is still there). When I get more time or if the V10 goes stable I will then change. Thanks.
Remarkably the headphones were working in a fashion but the cord must have been damaged for the microphone section. I used my wife's headphones last week (straight out of the box) and they worked fine. I really should apologize to Darky's crew for my quick assumption. So as it turns out, as one would have expected since this problem was not widespread, it was my own hardware at fault. Long live Darky's Rom.

[Q] Microphone Problem/Background noise

Hi
I got this problem with my SGS microphone, I've read some other users have similar issues but no one seems to get to the point of it.
you will see,
first problem:
I cant record voice on the device (voice recorder/camera). the output sound is full of background noise and this also affect calls, I sooo anoyed by the complains from people that cant hear me during calls because if the noise and i have to almost scream to make me hear (i really hate that).
second problem: when i plug a headset I cant get it to record, i thought first it was hardware and changed the earpiece to try and it was the same and im sure the headset is working. but the phone dont seem to recognize the microphone jag( as i said i tried a different ear jack).
I have tried different roms for I9000 and I9000T (btw this is a GT-I9000T from panama C&W).
currently im on Gingerbread 2.3.6 GINGERBREAD.XXJVU
KERNEL :2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVU-CL851880
BASEBAND : I9000UGJK4
I know it looks all messed up (you can see its a I9000T on a I9000 firmware)
but im using it in the UK and this version is not supposed to be used there (I used to think quad band phones were functional worldwide, harsh lesson )
Hope to get some help guys
thanks in advance ....:good:

Others can't hear me well during phone call

Greetings!
This is my first post in this forums. They've been very useful to flash, check updates, etc and I've never had the necessity of posting anything since I've cleared mostly any doubt I've ever had about my Android devices. This time, after searching all over the forums and in several other sites over the net I haven't been able to find any solution to my problem. Let me expose it:
Few months ago after having flashed my device to different ROM's, my friends started to tell me that they couldn't hear me well during phonecalls. The sound was not clear enough. They could hear, the volume was ok, but the phonecall the sound call they would recieve was not well.
I thought that this would be related to the hardware, maybe the mic was broken, because once I was thrown into a swimmingpool and I saved my phone by putting it into a jar with rice and letting it rest for few days. However, I have used other programs such as Skype and done the test phonecall so I could hear myself and it went verywell compared to call recorder app tests or regular call, the sound was much better. So I guess that the microphone is still okay and the problem is related to a setting issue that haven't been changed with flashing to different ROMS.
I've been running several ROMS, most of them based in CM7 and I'm now back to the latest stock ROM for America (2.3.5) and the problem is the same.
Any advice will be very apprecciated!

Actually, nothing of the posted above has worked out. If its a software problems how changing hardware would work?
if its still there is a problem after flashing stock one...than its probably your mic need replacement..!

[Q] Severe phone calls problem

Hey there,
I know it has been discussed partly, but with I think different aspects and details than I have. To cut it short: in about 50% of my phone calls, be it with good or bad reception, people cannot hear me speak on the phone.
The fun thing is, this cannot be connected to the internal microphone since I have it both on the normal mic as well as my bluetooth headset. No matter whether I call them or they call me. Sometimes (!) it helps to mute and re-enable the microphone on-screen, but this is not always effective. I thought this may be related to a bad combination of firmware and radio, but I recently switched to InsertCoin GE und updated both FW and radio, to no avail as regards to that matter. Furthermore, sometimes phonecalls just drop in the middle of a conversation, with no change in signal quality as far as I recognize.
Does this sound like some software thingy (and one might have a solution) or would you believe this is hardware related?
All the best in advance

Hey there,
of course, I picked InsertCoin GoogleEdition with the corresponding 3.06.1700.10 firmware that's offered as a complementary download for the ROM. No hands on the kernel, left the one coming with the ROM. Does that help ?

can you do a nandroid backup and try with another ROM? You could also ask in the thread of the ROM if someone got a similar problem.
I would also downgrade the firmware to the latest for HTC One (non GE). this should not be the problem but just to be sure

Yeah, I think I can. But I came from a 4.2.2 ROM with the latest radio, TrickDroid 8.0 and I had the very same problems. Does it more sound like a hardware than a software issue?

if it happens with other ROMs too it is most propably a hardware issue
