[Q] Some App Downloads Hang & ADW Question - G Tablet Themes and Apps

I set up my gtab with CWM and TNT Lite 4.4. I also did the flash & marketplace fix. I started downloading some apps and everything worked fine then I tried angry birds and the d/l hangs at 15%. I tried canceling and restarting with no luck. I tried clearing the data and cache for both download manager and marketplace with no luck. Even after that when I start the d/l it just jumps to 15% and hangs. I thought that this might be a result of a bigger app but then the same thing happened when I tried to get Google Books (only 1.8mb) but this time it hung at 57%. Even with these downloads hanging I was able to download other apps just fine. This is super frustrating!!!
Also, I can't find ADW.Launcher anywhere! I even tried to get it by downloading AppBrain, I was able to find it there but it gives me an error when I try to follow the link to d/l it from the marketplace.
Thanks in advance! I love this forum!!!

Try here for ADW Launcher http://www.freewarelovers.com/android/app/adw.launcher

When you try to stop the download, does it successfully halt the download without error?
If it always restarts at 15%, do you have partly downloaded APKs on your device? (stranger things have happened, I suppose).

Cant install apps!!!! Need help urgent!!

I cant download any apps from the market for whatever reason. Was able to yesterday, and not today. When I click on the app I want to install from the market, I get the download icon appear on the task bar above for a second, then it disappears. The only program I installed today, is "Dynomaster". I tried to remove that app, but still no luck. And yes, I tried to restart the phone. Im running rooted Froyo 2.2. Please help. Thank you!!
UPDATE:
After several tries of opening and trying to update, and closing the market, it came with a license agreement. After agreeing, I'm able to download the apps now.... Still don't know what happened :\

[Q] Help - Market hanging in 'starting download' status

Before we start... yes, I have searched the forums and thats why I've started this thread.
Setup: CWM, VEGAn 5.1, Titanium Backup and Root Explorer
EVERYTHING is working except for this...
I have run the market fix step by step (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845175) and have access to the full market. I can even get all the way to initiating the download of the app. However, when the download starts, it just hangs in 'starting download...' and does nothing. It doesnt download or install, just hangs.
This seems to be a known issue with phones with no answer...

I have run multiple reboots in combination with data/cache wipes using app manager and CWM. I'm sure that I'm missing something but I have no clue what it is. Help is greatly appreciated?

Just had it happen on my phone. I fixed it by going into applications and clearing the data from google services framework. Then reboot...
Mine does this if I try to use it from work. The firewall allows normal web, and transparently proxies FTP so I'd think it would work, but it doesn't.
sign into google talk and all should be well... google's market depends on gtalk service - signing into gtalk should do it for you.

Thanks for the heads up. You are right that it is dependent on GTalk, but I think I've stumbled across the main issue. When I connect to someone's else's wifi (couple of people in my apt complex have left their routers unprotected), I don't have any issues connecting to gtalk or market. So obviously, my gtab is having an issue with the connection through my network/firewall/<insert idea>, I'm assuming.
Are there any known network/firewall issues with connecting to gtalk or the market?
I'm running TnT Lite 3.1 and finally got all the apps to load up on market using the "market fix" that you tried as well, but am stuck on "starting download" as you are. Although it's possible that it has something to do with the router, I turned the firewall on my router completely off and still hangs. I wish we could figure this one out.
Just know you are not alone.

I don't know if this will help but I have seen that a couple times and have found that if I tap on the app that is stuck it will go back to the menu asking if you want to install like you would see when you first tried it. Say ok, it will start to download again. Seems most times it will then download.
I have in the past had apps just stay stuck. Only thing that I could ever do to fix that was to clear the data from the Google services framework, and reboot. Kind of like doing the market fix again.
Try clearing cache for the downloader. It could be there is a bad file "stuck" there that it is trying to resume...
It's even possible that there is a zero byte file there with perms wrong...happened to me once after switching ROMs
How do you sign into gtalk? Is it already installed in TnT by default? I don't see an icon for it.
Are you running a custom rom or stock. Stock has no Google Apps

I'm running TnT Lite, version 3.1 I believe.
I can obviously navigate to the main page google.com/talk, but don't see a link there to install for android/gtab. If my market worked I could probably install from there, but that's the whole reason I'm messing around with talk. Still can't get my market to install anything, despite market fix, clear this, clear that, etc.
You can reinstall TnT rom without wiping data/cache. I would wipe cache. The gTalk app (Talk) should have installed with TnT lite. This will reinstall everything in the rom wothout wiping your data. You may still have to wipe data/cache but you can try it in steps

Ok I found talk and cannot login. Says "could not connect to server. Will retry shortly." I confirmed my internet is working as I can connect with the browser. I can also still connect to Market, find apps, but cannot get them to download. I've cleared the data in Google services framework and rebooted several times with no solution. ARGHH!!

Sorry if you have already done this but....I would backup my apps and THEIR data with titanium backup and do a complete reinstall. Wipe data/ factory reset and then install the rom again. Restore your apps and their date with Titanium. Don't restore system data with Titanium.

Ok will try that and get back to you. I don't really have to backup anything, will just do a wipe and reinstall. Thanks for your help.
Well chit. I downloaded the new TnT 4.1 and figured I'd give that a try.
Restarted w/ clockworkmod .08, cleared cache, cleared data, then installed TnT.
After booting back up some of the buttons weren't working, couldn't type in my wireless password, it would keep jumping to the home screen, then I couldn't shut down, power button would not turn the damn thing off.
Copied the TnT 3.1 update.zip back to the sdcard. Went into settings and did a data reset/wipe and finally it shut down.
So I restarted with clockwork mod again and wiped cache and data reset, loaded TnT 3.1 and let it boot up.
Was able to enter wireless password and get that going and confirmed the internet was working. Then went to market and or course it was not working. So did market fix, after installing titanium backup. Had to reboot a few times after force stopping google services and market, and wiping cache/data (from within settings) each time and finally all the apps showed up in market.
However, still unable to get anything to install.
Tried to login to google talk with same result.
I'm now thinking it must be something with my firewall as the first user mentioned. Going to try it on another connection and let you guys know.
I can confirm that it is something to do with my firewall. Finally tried market on another connection and it downloaded right away. Now I have to get verizon to give me a new router. DOH!
EDIT Now I can download from market just fine from my original location. It seems that once I downloaded the first time from a different location, now it is all working.
Anyone have apps that download and not install? I've been having this problem, before my memory even got low for apps so I wiped everything and reinstalled my apps and had less then half a gb of apps.
Things seemed good but today it started happening again, apps will hang in downloading or will download and not install.

[Q] Decad3nce's 1.1r2 Youtube/Market Broken?

Hey,
So to get to this point I flashed the entire device back to stock 1.01, setup the BN account, rooted with Monster, setup youtube/gmail/market and tested. Everything works fine. I then used CWM to install the update to 1.1. Everything seems to work except that the market fails to connect and youtube just closes upon opening. I tried to fix the permissions, but that didn't resolve it. I also tried installing the Vendor.apk, but just keep getting a message about an invalid cert. Any ideas?
Yes had the same issues with R2 and also the touchscreen worked very strangely.
So went to a backup and loaded R1, that worked great.
I had the same problem. This fixed it for me:
1. Restore to stock 1.0.1 (Don't go from 1.0)
2. Register with B&N
2. Use latest autonooter
3. After you sign in to Youtube as instructed and get Market working, reboot
4. After you reboot, you'll notice that Market works, but Youtube force closes (I think this is where the problem is)
5. Uninstall Youtube (Clear Data first), and then install the signed Youtube .apk
6. After Youtube is working, then you can apply the prerooted 1.1 update.
After many frustrating hours of trying to get Market and Youtube to work, this is what worked the first time for me
I never did R2 but did do R1. My market worked fine but youtube didn't.
Anyway, if you have Titanium Backup then go in there and delete the cache from Youtube. Then go back and log into Youtube like you did with the original Autonooter setup. I think this will fix both. At least it got Youtube to work on mine
And if that didn't work for some reason try removing Youtube and installing it from the apk somewhere around page 20 of the thread.

The apk or the flashable install? The only apk I found wasn't signed correctly. I tried clearing the cache, but still no go. Just closes immediately.
I would try the flashable one. I did push the apk on mine but I think I later delete it. Besides I think the apk was the exact same as the one I had on there
I really think deleting the cache from Titanium Backup is what did it for me. Of course if you don't have it then getting it without the market makes it a little harder
Also try logging in with gmail and then going to the market. I see where one person said that fixed that for him. You might try gtalk. I just remember seeing the post and didn't have the issue myself
Some more info for you
Never tried this but if you're still having problems after all the stuff above with youtube then you may try removing data\data\com.google.android.youtube\shared_prefs That's what someone on page 5 of the thread recommended. I think I would just copy it off the nook and then remove it to see if it works
And if nothing else works with the market then there's a flashable vending app on page 24.
Not to threadjack but has anyone see an issue with DropBox with r1/r2 of this sideload? It just hangs on downloading and never does, evening erroring out.

These and lots more grievances are described in my blog. Decad3nce answered to me that whatever my experience with r1 is irreproducible to him, then recognizes he used "wrong" kernel, decided to put signed_YouTube into his ROM r2 -- instead of more stable HQ YouTube I proposed a month ago. There's tons more of broken stuff both in r1 and r2, I won't quote the whole list here. Staying on 1.0.1 with fake build.prop is probably the best way to deal with 1.1.0 "upgrade".

I don't know, but the youtube app for me when I goto certain youtube videos displays an HQ logo topright at beginning. Does that not mean HQ is working?
What else for you is broken. You state tons and yet with the exception of the XDA app and LCD density (which I suspect is more due to the B&N changes than his 1.1), everything works as good or better than on 1.0.1

USB debugging doesn't work with this update. It keeps turning off which is a real pain in the butt. That on top of the XDA app being borked was enough for me to restore my old build.
USB Debugging and Market....
I found usb debugging turned itself off once connected to PC so I'm using adb over wifi for the moment. Otherwise, USB Debugging can keep itself running without problem and button savior works fine.
The newer market(vending.apk is about 2MB) doesn't work on 1.1 preroot. It worked on the first boot but after first app was downloaded/installed the market FC and would never open again. However, the old market(file size is about 1MB) came with autonooter works with 1.1 preroot. So if you've updated the market, try the older version.
Not sure about youtube, mine works but very slow when opening videos, takes forever to buffer

I had the same problem on mine. What I did was to open Titanium Backup, find Youtube under Backup / Restore, and do a Wipe Data on it. At that point Youtube started to work again and I had to log into my channel as in the original autonooter
bitnerd, that worked like a charm. Simple enough. Thanks.
No problem. If you have other things that you can't fix otherwise it may work there too. I've noticed one or two apps that behaved strangely and then were fixed by clearing the cache data

market canno't run after upgrade to 1.1.0 with

nookcolor 1.0.0 with official update to 1.0.1 then with autoroot, that enable android market, and run smoothly
after update to 1.1.0 use the following rom [ROM] Nook Color V1.1.0_r2, market won't run anymore, I tried to
use http://market.android.com to install new apps, but it doesn't work too. does anyone have the clue?
[ROM] Nook Color V1.1.0_r2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932145
tried to restore to origianl 1.0.0 rom, but it boot to Clockwork Recovery everytime
what do you mean market wont run? if you are getting the server error message just wait eventually it will work. it seems like with the new market, google is changing settings on peoples accounts which will block your device from accessing the market. i had the same problem but the next day it was gone.
if you tried to put your nook back to stock and now its only booting into CWR go to the developers thread and they have multiple ways to recover your nook
here
and here
To restore to stock you need to remove the SD card and then press and hold the power button until it powers off and then press to turn on, wait until the N appears and press and hold power until it turns off and then repeat this process for like 8 times or so and it will then update the firmware to stock.
Im seeing the same thing.. Ver 1.1.0 and get the Market Server error everytime i try to launch the Market.
I updated to 1.1 and then booted with Autonooter 3.0 image. The Market works fine setup wizard was all I needed and all my apps are there. So, it's not definitely not the B&N 1.1 update causing the problem.
Also couldn't get the market to run after upgrading to 1.1.0
Press the icon and it would flash a white screen then back to the app folder. Youtube was doing this as well and I was able to fix it by removing and reinstalling, but I can't do this with the market apparently (just keeps running the install then saying market not installed)
I tried to make anflashable evrsion of the vending.qpk but it didn't even run because I have no clue how to make flashable packages for CWR.
Any ideas? Kinda sux not having the market

Don't use CWN and that ROM then (not that there's anything wrong with it).
Backup anything you don't want to lose by copying it your computer in any way you can / want.
Instead try going back to stock like described here...
http://www.nookdevs.com/Flash_back_to_clean_stock_ROM
Then update to 1.1 from official B&N update found here...
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/nookcolor-support-software-update/379002520/?cds2Pid=35758
Then boot with AutoNooter 3.0 from here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942424
Connect to WiFi and then just follow the setup wizard.
After that...run the market, agree to market terms and you're done!
FYI, I didn't have to use Youtube to get the Market to work. The Setup Wizard worked all on it's own.
Ok, let me rephrase. Any ideas on why I can't instal the market. Tips to get it reinstalled? I did this once on my phone and I had to remove all traces of the market first, hurt I can't remember where all the files and folders were located.
I like using CWR as it is what I am familiar with

Market runs -but not well...?
Total newbie - seamlessly rooted NC 1.1 yesterday - (so grateful to developers!)
One of the only problems I have encountered is with Market -- I've searched and searched these forums to see if anyone else is having a similar problem -- but have yet to find anything.
I am able to access Market, and download apps with no problem. The only issue is when I view anything in the Market, it only shows roughly 10 results in any list I view. If I do a search, it may indicate that there are 754 results but will only list 10-12 of the results. Not a dealbreaker of course but if there's a work around, or fix, I'd love to know.
TIA

Use AppBrain app. You're on older android market.
Took the gapps zip from the Monster package and removed all files except the contents of META-INF and the vending.apk and flashed in CWR, market back .

[Q] Sync, app download fail post root.

So, I did the one-click root, which worked fantastically, and I downloaded Titanium Backup, froze the V-cast stuff and a few bits of bloatware.
I'm not sure what happened, but my phone is no longer downloading successfully from the marketplace, and sync has failed every time i've tried it.
I've tried defrosting every program I froze, rebooting the phone, and doing a battery pull, but it still keeps telling me that the network is unavailable and that I should call tech support whenever I try to sync, and the marketplace is still not downloading apps.
Opera works fine, the market itself has no problems showing me every app that's available, but when I try to download, it just hangs without downloading anything at all.
Any suggestions?
Did you try flashing the leaked ota? Try to get yourself as close to stock prior should you decide to try it.
Hadn't heard about an OTA, and don't know how to flash it if there were one. Would doing this correct the problem?
Further investigation shows that data connection is working fine, and I can update using google account. The only problem left is the failure of Android Marketplace to download any apps, regardless of connection type.
Try going in to Menu/Settings/Applications/Manage Applications, find Market and then clear cache and clear data. Force Stop it then exit back to the homescreen and launch the Market app again.
That was what the guy at Motorola support tried, except he had me do a battery pull instead of a force stop. No luck.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. Any other ideas?
Yeah...and this one will sound stupid.
Sign in or out of Google Talk. I had an issue on my Droid where everything I downloaded was "unsuccessful". Don't remember where I saw it but it was a google support posting that said to try that.
I was signed in...signed out and everything worked fine after that.
The leaked OTA is in the development section if you want to try it.
Also, I know it sucks to lose everything but have you tried a factory reset?
Tried the google talk solution, no luck.
Will try the OTA flash; all it will take to get me virtually back to stock is to unfreeze everything, since that's pretty much the only thing i've done since I rooted the phone. Is that all I need to do prior to trying, or do I need to unroot or something?
Haven't tried a factory reset, but wouldn't be that huge a loss as long as I back up my contacts and texts.
