I have CM7 RC2 installed on my nook emmc and it's been working great, but I want to flash dalingrins OC kernel... I flashed CWR through my Clockwork app and anytime I try to reboot into recovery it never does, just goes straight to the CM7 boot animation then boots normally... can anyone help? Thanks
I've noticed that the power button + N button combination on the Nook Color seems to be a lot more touchy and prone to error (i.e., not booting into recovery when pressing it) than the analogous key presses on my EVO.
Try holding down the N button, press the power button, and letting go of the power button about 2 seconds after pressing it (keep holding down the N button). I noticed if you hold it too long or not long enough, you'll go straight into the CM7 boot logo. This almost always works for me.

You are either doing it wrongly, or the volume-down button isn't working. It's as simple as that.
To diagnose, make absolutely sure that CWM is properly installed by following steps 1-3 in this guide.
EDIT: Actually, if volume-down isn't working, you won't be able to start the phone in NVFlash-mode either.
Then try to start recovery again (also by doing it exactly like the guide says.) If you still can't access CWM, then you know for certain your volume-down key is broken and you need to get the phone repaired.
Maybe a "quick shot" but why not to ask: do you keep power and vol down keys long enough? You have to keep them pressed both for quite a few seconds before CWM mode is activated and CWM menu appears. So, just power off your phone, then keep power and "vol -" buttons pressed until the LG logo changes a bit or the CWM menu appears. On my phone it takes about 15 seconds, so no hurry
I have a i9000m, with CM9 and IcyGlitch, and I'm holding down Volume Down, and then pressing and holding Power for 10 seconds. Icy Glitch shows up and it restarts if I hold it any longer. Or it just boots into the ICS splash screen, and then continues for ad infinitum. I have backups which I want to restore but I installed the lagfix script which must've messed it all up. Sighs.
Then press power-, home- and volume-up together ... Named 3-button-combo ...
I don't know exactly, but your combo with only 2 buttons is for galaxy ace ...

Hello everyone.
I got a new Galaxy Ace S5830i today.
I rooted it and installed CWM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552792).
After that I did install Retribution beta 4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806471).
Then after rebooting I ended up getting a boot animation loop and neither the recovery mode would work nor the download mode.
Could anyone of you please help me? I feel very uncomfortable with a brick in my pocket. :x
I'd be surprised if neither were working, particularly if you are getting as far as the boot animation.
To clarify, to enter recovery mode: Switch off your phone (pull out the battery and re-insert if its looping and the power button won't work), hold down power button AND home/rectangular button AND volume up button. When you see the Samsumg GT-S5830i logo, let go of the power button but continue to hold down the home and volume up buttons for around 5 seconds then let go of everything. Recovery console should appear on screen.
To enter download mode: Switch off your phone, hold down power button AND volume up button AND volume down button. Warning about custom OS's should appear, followed by download mode after pressing volume up again. If this doesn't work try taking out battery, sim card and SD card, connecting USB lead (screen will be completely powered off) and then trying the key combination.
Hello All,
I for some reason cannot figure out the button combo to get me into recovery from the phone being off. Anyone know what it is? Thanks!

Hold power and vol down until it turns on and once it gets to the lg logo, release the buttons and press and hold them again until it gets to the factory reset screen. Hit the power button three times and it will boot into your recovery

Thanks fellas!
The phone has to be powered OFF for the stated and linked methods to work for recovery access.
To power the phone off (if, say, you're stuck in a bootloop),
Press and hold the power and Vol- buttons for 10 seconds do not release, hold for an additional 3-5 seconds. The LG logo will flash briefly. When the screen is black, let go of all buttons. Now the phone is off, you may process to use the previously stated commands to enter recovery.
Hold volume down + power until the LG logo appears....once it appears release the power button and repress it and hold until youre into recovery... :good:
I've loaded the recovery, ROM and pico GAPPS into my Nook HD+ and it boots & runs OK.
But I can't boot back down into TWRP recovery.
I turn the Nook off and wait about 30sec.
Then hold down the VOL– and POWER buttons.
After the fake Nook bootloader and CyanogenMod bootloader screens go by I let go of the POWER button while holding the VOL– button.
After a long wait I see the Linage boot animation, followed by the normal Android desktop for a normal boot.
What am I doing wrong???
Try holding power and the Nook home button until you see something on the screen then release both.
