Hello everyone.
I got a new Galaxy Ace S5830i today.
I rooted it and installed CWM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552792).
After that I did install Retribution beta 4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806471).
Then after rebooting I ended up getting a boot animation loop and neither the recovery mode would work nor the download mode.
Could anyone of you please help me? I feel very uncomfortable with a brick in my pocket. :x
I'd be surprised if neither were working, particularly if you are getting as far as the boot animation.
To clarify, to enter recovery mode: Switch off your phone (pull out the battery and re-insert if its looping and the power button won't work), hold down power button AND home/rectangular button AND volume up button. When you see the Samsumg GT-S5830i logo, let go of the power button but continue to hold down the home and volume up buttons for around 5 seconds then let go of everything. Recovery console should appear on screen.
To enter download mode: Switch off your phone, hold down power button AND volume up button AND volume down button. Warning about custom OS's should appear, followed by download mode after pressing volume up again. If this doesn't work try taking out battery, sim card and SD card, connecting USB lead (screen will be completely powered off) and then trying the key combination.

So you can't get into recovery mode while the phone is on?
The only way is to (re-)boot.
Recovery mode requires: the (file)system is not in normal use by apps or user.
It's like replacing the sparks at the engine of your car. It's not possible while engine is running and the engine bonnet is closed.
turn the phone off wait for it to vibrate or the LED's to go go off. Then Hold Vol Up + Home Button +Power all at the same time when you see the boot screen (black and white text saying Samsung Galaxy S I9000) let go of power and keep holding Volume and Home and it should boot into recover mode.
Be care full if you hold the home button to long it selects reboot device and you have to do the above again.
Alright. Tanks! I didn't now what boot in to recovery mode was, but now i now, it's just starting the phone in recovery mode.
My Samsung galaxy s7 did and update and now it won't turn on. I tried reset but all that shows up is a small blue recovery booting···
Which flashes on no matter how long I hold on to home and vol. Up
My phone is not going in either of the download / recovery mode. I tried many times. Both 'Vol up + home + power' and 'Vol down + home + power'. But the phone runs in infinite boot loop until i release the power button, after which it starts normally.
May be i should try this . But as per what i found in google search is that the 3 button issue was only in 2.1(Eclair). And mine is already on 2.2 (Froyo) which i updated officially through kies. So has it been disabled intentionally or the bootloader is buggy version which i need to update using this guide ??
try to hold the power button for 4 seconds exactly. Release it just when the logo screen disappears. Sometimes if I hold it too long, it doesn;t work.
Also, if your phone is working, try an app like QuickBoot that will take you into those modes automatically.
For some people have problems getting in to download mode, try volume down home and power it worked for me.
Download mode is Volume down not up .

I tried it, its not working. I release the power button exactly when the boot logo disappears. Then the phone boots again (boot logo is displayed again) and phone starts normally.
Also app like QuickBoot is not much helpful as i'm thinking of flashing through ODIN and i need both the modes working before starting the flash procedure !!

Yeah i have tried factory reset. And i dont want to use the USB jig just now. USB jig is for emergency i suppose and u can only go into download mode and not recovery mode. I want download mode and recovery mode running normally. My question is that, i it possible that these two modes are disabled as mine is 3 UK branded phone ?? Should I try this ??
I did a search but couldn't find anything. Are there any button combos to boot into download mode or recovery mode or is ADB my only option?. I tried what worked on the GS2 but not luck.
Depending on the rom, it should be volume down + power. Hold both until the samsung logo flashes then comes back the 2nd time and let go of power, keep holding volume down and it should boot into recovery. You can also try alternating with volume up + home button + power, same method as above.
hi, i Did NOT install any rom to my phone. i just used cwm to click " go to recovery mode "
after that the phone just restarted and and hangs at the boot screen. the one that says samsung galaxy S3GT -I9305
I Tried the
hold power button together with the both up and down volume keys as well as power +up button and power+ down volume key but it just like restarts back to the same boot screen
when i insert the usb cable to my phone via my laptop and my wall mounted charger there is no light being shown that it is being charged
whats going on ?any ideas guys?

Remove the battery for a few seconds and plug it in, then do this.
Push the volume up + home button + power (start with volume to home to power, keep holding all, dont let go) until it boots.

Good, apparently you are a major noob ( ), do read some guides before doing anything from now on.
I'm now finally trying to flash the T-Mobile version onto my sm-g998u1, When I follow the instructions to get into bootloader it just restarts the phone normally like a regular reboot? Any guidance on getting this done correctly. Below are the steps I saw how to reboot into bootloader:
Turn off your Galaxy S21.
Connect it to your computer using a USB cable.
When the charging percentage level animation stops, hold the Volume UP + Power keys simultaneously for 5-7 seconds.
Keep both the hardware buttons pressed until you enter the Android Recovery mode.
Once you enter the recovery mode on your Galaxy S21, highlight Reboot to Bootloader using the Volume Down key and select it using the Power button.
Your Galaxy S21 will boot into the Download Mode
Much thanks and sorry again for the many posts.

Hi mate
Maybe step 3 is not quite right, you can check this thread it has a lot of information
Reboot Phone in Download Mode: Connect USB-cable to your computer. Hold down "Volume up" and "Volume down" at same time. While holding down, connect the USB-cable to your phone. Or use the command "adb reboot-bootloader"
Do not wait for the % animation.....
Further information here
You can also do it via ADB (adb reboot download)
Thank you. Appreciate it.
Glad I could help
