So you can't get into recovery mode while the phone is on?
The only way is to (re-)boot.
Recovery mode requires: the (file)system is not in normal use by apps or user.
It's like replacing the sparks at the engine of your car. It's not possible while engine is running and the engine bonnet is closed.
turn the phone off wait for it to vibrate or the LED's to go go off. Then Hold Vol Up + Home Button +Power all at the same time when you see the boot screen (black and white text saying Samsung Galaxy S I9000) let go of power and keep holding Volume and Home and it should boot into recover mode.
Be care full if you hold the home button to long it selects reboot device and you have to do the above again.
Alright. Tanks! I didn't now what boot in to recovery mode was, but now i now, it's just starting the phone in recovery mode.
My Samsung galaxy s7 did and update and now it won't turn on. I tried reset but all that shows up is a small blue recovery booting···
Which flashes on no matter how long I hold on to home and vol. Up

Hello people
I think my I9000 is what you call bricked.
When i turn on the phone, it goes to the Recovery Mode, and when i choose ~~Reboot system now~~ after like 30 seconds, it goes back to Recovery Mode again.
please help me out what can i do? Thank You
P.S Vol. down + home + power on or Vol. up + home + power both works.
reflash it with odin, you are lucky mine doesn't seem to work. ):
Hello everyone.
I got a new Galaxy Ace S5830i today.
I rooted it and installed CWM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552792).
After that I did install Retribution beta 4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806471).
Then after rebooting I ended up getting a boot animation loop and neither the recovery mode would work nor the download mode.
Could anyone of you please help me? I feel very uncomfortable with a brick in my pocket. :x
I'd be surprised if neither were working, particularly if you are getting as far as the boot animation.
To clarify, to enter recovery mode: Switch off your phone (pull out the battery and re-insert if its looping and the power button won't work), hold down power button AND home/rectangular button AND volume up button. When you see the Samsumg GT-S5830i logo, let go of the power button but continue to hold down the home and volume up buttons for around 5 seconds then let go of everything. Recovery console should appear on screen.
To enter download mode: Switch off your phone, hold down power button AND volume up button AND volume down button. Warning about custom OS's should appear, followed by download mode after pressing volume up again. If this doesn't work try taking out battery, sim card and SD card, connecting USB lead (screen will be completely powered off) and then trying the key combination.
After I tried to backup the device with TWRM, I am now stuck on the boot screen with "samsung galaxy tab s2, powered by android" screen.
I am unable to do anything: turn it off, power + volume up + home or power + volume down + home" nothing actually do anything.
The only think that change something is it to wait battery run out of energy, then the screen turn black but as soon as I plug the charger the same screen "samsung galaxy tab s2, powered by android" come again, I didn't even pushed the power button.
The device was rooted long time ago and was still with the original rom (5.0.1 or 5.1.1 I believe, i am unable to verify).
Any help is welcome!
bump,
I tried removing the back cover, now I can reboot the device more easily just removing the battery connector, before I had to wait the battery run out of power.
I trying the boot the device with the "volume up + home + power botton" pressed.
But still no luck.
Is there a way to boot an alternate rom on the device ?
it turn out that removing the back panel actually disable power or volumes buttons, so putting back the backpanel let the "power + volume down" reboot works, then shortly after doing "volume up + power + home" button let me enter odin mode, now I need a stock rom...
i recovered the device, i just had to install old version of twrp new version did brick the device

similar issue.
Constant boot loop, cannot turn it off. Can access boot options, even using the shutdown from that menu fails and returns to boot loop.
The notification led is on at max brightness, not flashing, just on. Won't turn off.
I DID manage to get to Odin (holding Vol Up, Home, Power, does not work every time), was able to successfully flash the stock firmware. (Which I was already on, Verizon Note 5 so no custom roms for me), didn't help. Once it finished right back to infinite boot loop, with no recovery mode or ability to turn it off.
Hello, I'm having some problems with my M31, it keeps going into boot frequently every day. Whenever there is a call or any activity like opening the app it switches off and only turns back on if I press and hold the power button with volume keys. I tried to reset it hard but it will not go into recovery mode. I press and hold the power and volume up button but instead of recovery mode, it turns on. I don't know what to do, please help!
Recovery Android12: press and hold Volume Up and Power then plugin USB cable to PC
Reflash full firmware if you cannot get rid of the random boots.
yeah go into download mode and reflash full stock firmware . I did from here https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-M315F/INS. but to flash unofficial twrp, still donno how to flash twrp after vbmeta flash its not going into recovery.
