[Q] PPP support on gingerbread JVK with Voodoo - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
Im using JVK + the hacked Voodoo kernel from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=975349) and it seems im missing PPP support now so my VPN tools that use Point-to-Point Protocol do not work. I have tried compiling the kernel modules myself but Ive had difficulty finding source code and config files that work.
What I need is to enable the following modules:
-PPP Support for async serial ports
-PPP Support for sync tty ports
Can anybody help me with this?

Thanks everybody, great help.

A nobody knows
or B you will have to wait for release of Gingerbread .
It has not yet been released .
jje

I dont know why its taking so long to release the source code. Seems to be the route of all my problems at the moment.

[Q] Leaked Froyo and tun.ko availability

Hi,
I was thinking about upgrading my SGS to XXJPH, but as long as one of the apps I use daily on my device is vpnc (an ipsec vpn client), I'll need a tun module to make it work (well, obviously root & busybox are needed too).
Does this firmware come with built-in tun.ko, or should we wait for sources and compile one? Did anyone here test Openvpn or Vpnc on it?
Thanks!

[Q] Is there any custom ROM that support Wiimote appairing?

Hi
I just flashed my SGS with 2.2.1 and it seems that the bluetooth stack has not changed!
So is there any custom rom that contains the original bluetooth stack and that is will allow my SGS to be appaired with a Wiimote?
Thanks in advance.
I'm looking at the same thing. But I believe it would require some patch to the kernel's bluetooth modules.
The pairing mode is not supported by the kernel used on the phone. This could perhaps be ported from another source, if the hardware supports it...

tun.ko for 4.1.57

Attached tun.ko for 4.1.57. Works for me with VPNC. I put it in /system/lib and the VPNC Widget can load it.
awesome!!!! i was waiting for this to be able to connect to my cisco vpn!
great post!!!
Note: network connection tracking does not work
This means that after you connect to VPNC, disconnect from VPNC, turn wifi off, and then turn wifi back on, your connection will be hosed. As a workaround, you can run the VPNC widget settings pane and retoggle wifi. This resets the network state.
thx for this tread.good job
Thanks for shared! this file working well on 1.83 too
It's working perfectly on the Brazillian version of Atrix from Claro carrier.
I really wanted the possibility of compiling other modules for my Atrix stock kernel.
I really wanted to use some volume encryption functionality... As such a tool does not exist natively for Android, I`m thinking about using some kernel functinoality such as Loop-AES, LUKS, DM-Crypt or even some userspace FS for encryption (FUSE).
So, could anyone point me where i can find the source code for the Atrix kernel to try to compile those modules for it? I really think that this could be a great thing. One of the very fews things that i miss on Full Linux.
Thanls in advance.

Victor, are you using the stock kernel with this or did you need to recompile it?
I'm very sorry for the looooooooooooooooong delay in the answer.
And yes i was using on the stock kernel (Claro Brazil Android 2.2). Now i'm trying to use OpenVPN on the latest 2.3.6 official rom and it's not working anymore...
I'm thinking in some workround... any ideas?
Cheers.

The tun.ko module doesn't work, I was going to compile one for 2.3.4 (at least the stock kernel) but it seems my desktop killed itself, and I'm not going to install linux on my laptop (it seems to suck with booting from CD, and USB doesn't work... no idea why, but it works fine with Windows Discs)
Might consider using Faux's kernel, it has TUN/TAP (I've never tested though)

[Q] tun.ko requested

Hi,
Since there isn't a subforum for the Samsung Galaxy Gio (GT-S5660) yet, I couldn't help but post here instead.
I've recently updated from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 and unfortunately, my tun.ko module no longer works. I searched hours and tried dozens of different tun.ko files to get one working under 2.3.3. However, I cannot seem to find one that will work with my new kernel.
I've tried to compile it myself in linux using a couple of guides but always got stuck somewhere in the middle. Even tried to modify the file in a hex editor so that the kernel version checks out. Alas, to no avail.
I really need a VPN connection so I can connect to the network of my company. So if anyone would be so kind of compiling a tun.ko module for my specific kernel, I would be forever greatful.
My phone specs:
Samsung Galaxy Gio (GT-S5660)
Android 2.3.4
Buildnumber GINGERBREAD.XXKQG
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL561540 [email protected] #1
Thanks in advance

[Q] sound settings in cm10

I asked in cm10 topic but i get no answer.
please help me to redirect sound to dock.
at first builds of cm10, cm9, cm7, stock i had no problems, but things changed...
i have write to application software developer (galaxy sound redirect) and he told me this :
"Please have the CM dev supporting your model verify the correct mapping exists between the ROM audio device and the kernel audio path (commonly set in libaudio).
Example: DEVICE_OUT_ANLG_DOCK_HEADSET in ROM should map tothe path PLAYBACK_EXTRA_DOCK in the kernel."
i dont know nothing about programming software so i'm asking you, is there any chance to have sound redirected?
le: i have to mention that yesterday a flashed cm9 an still not working
le2: cm kernel doesnt work with dock system, but SEMAPHORE does!
thanks in advance!
does the new partition layout (builds after 17.08) changed the sound settings?
i wish i knew some basic programming things
up!
maybe there's an answer.
Did you find something?

This is really annoying....with CM9 and the early CM10 builds it worked...but now? And i have no clue about where to add this "missing" mapping...
Hopefully they fix it, use my phone with car dock....
none of developers have car dock in use...
so till then...just with stock rom...
so sad...
