I downloaded this app and it says my phone doesnt run a kernel supporting extended sound controls. Is there something I can do to enable this app to work on my NS?
Install a Voodoo enabled kernel from the dev section. Make sure you read up on how to do so.

1. Is there a description on all the settings?
2. The default settings are the best?

I personally still recommended oclf as a way to improve a phones performance for a newbie or someone who is not ready to flash kernels or ROMs yet.
If you have an external SD card in, remove it, uninstall the ext2 tools, install them again and try the lagfix again. Once you get it to work, remember to undo it before flashing your first kernel.

I personally still recommended that NEVER use oclf. It's outdated, with very ugly install scripts, a plague to remove and nightmare to fix with a post flash to retrieve data (if you don't dare lost data it's ok).

I didn't have a problem using it, or removing it....and I have a feeling far more phones were trashed by people rushing in to flash kernels before they knew how then have been damaged by oclf.

The creator of the app left XDA for lots of reasons, very few to do with technical issues. Yes I recommended it as a simple way for someone brand new to android or sgs (as I was) to make his phone more usable.
You can try to use it again, or flash a kernel directly via odin...either way I hope it works out for you.

I bought one samsung captivate SGH-I897, But after i got it i looked on it and found there is no option to install out of market apps. Everytime.i try to install somthing from outside market it says " for security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not obtained from android market".
I somehow manage to root to using oneclick root but still there is no option to install outside apps and it stil says same thing.
Please help, i want to unlock it use on my tmobile too.

You have to enable non-market apps using Odin,
Or install a rom to your phone like continumm this will automaticly allow non market apps

On the oneclickroot program there's an option to " allow non market apps" to unlock your phone you'll need to SEARCH xda or Google/xda on the one click unlocker for captivate. Some captivates it works others are to new. + galaxy s unlocker in the market has proven to work for some.

If u spend like 20 minutes (if even that) searching for this topic/issue, you will find your answer. Try it out.

What version of the kernel is used on the Droid 3? This will be very important to finding exploits to obtain root access.
If you go to settings and look under "about phone" kernel version is 2.6.35.7

I don't own one. I am an Atrix developer. I was curious if I could help root it. As I expected, it is a newer version. I will still investigate now that I know the the version.
Thanks! Can't wait for this beast to get rooted things can only get better

i know there are a lot of people with their PayPal accounts ready for the first person to successfully root the D3.
When did they close up the sql-lite root bug?

How about /proc/config.gz. Knowing what kernel options are turned on is important.
