Dell Streak 7 lines across the screen
I have the same problem.
I have a Dell Streak 7 without 3G, with WiFi
Purchased through Dell on May 19, 2011.
I am running Android Froyo 2.2.
I plugged in my Dell Streak 7 last nigh to the power charger and this morning there are small lines across the screen up and down if I hold in the Landscape position starting from right below the front facing camera.
I powered off and back on completely and I also used a paperclip tip and reset the Dell Streak from the side reset hole (sorry I forgot what doing this is called) Lines are still there.
Has this problem resolved for you and are there others with the same problem and perhaps a solution that does not require hardware repair/replacement.?
I witnessed this on a brand new Streak7 running stock Froyo, it appeared after the first long charge, but it has long since gone, so maybe yours will too.
White lines on dell streak
I also notice the same, I just got my dell streak 7 on july 29 from staples, just for $211 inc taxes, after charging switced off tablet, these lines are visible and a bit hot from back side, more over It's left speaker sometime produces cracking voice especially startup video of asphalt 6. Hopefully, I'll call dell and ask them!
I just talked to dell and they said hadn't got any information regarding issue, so better to go to stepples and replace it! Moreover, they don't have any information regarding honeycomb.

Going to replace it with new one!
I had the right half of my screen give me white "streak" lines, which faded/refreshed after loading certain apps/videos (nothing specific).
Did not consider it normal, so I exchanged at Staples last Monday 7/25.

ok, I am a noob. I freely (and sadly) admit this. I have watched the videos, read the rules, searched the forums, searched the internet etc. etc. on this site there were 2 threads to help me and neither really helped so here goes.
I have a tmobile Dell streak 7 that i purchased on EBAY. It works great EXCEPT the accelerometer is off. I cannot play TempleRun without the little guy running to the side of the screen. I downloaded a bubble level app to check it just to make sure it wasn't the app itself. the bubble app has my bubble sitting about 28.5 degrees to the left of center. I know on my cell phone there is a G-sensor calibration option but I have looked everywhere on this silly tablet and cannot find one. i did have to do a hard factory reset because I was stuck on the spinning Dell logo and I had hopes that it would fix the calibration issue at the same time but it did not. Can anyone help me? Thanks much friendlies
I guess thr problem may be hardware. Sent it for warranty. Also make sure you bhave the process com.oem.engineering.calibrate running

So after 4 exchanges I was happy when I opened the box and found it didn't have screen lift, the speakers worked great, and it didn't flicker.
After using it for awhile I noticed new problems never experienced before...
1) It wouldn't shut down completely. You could power it down, but it wouldn't turn on unless you held the power button for over 10 seconds to force a restart or if you plugged in the charger the screen wouldn't come on showing it was charging. It seemed to happen most of the time, but sometimes it would shut down like it should.
2) The touchscreen would become laggy/unresponsive after awhile. This mainly happens while playing games such Nova 3, the screen becomes unresponsive and makes it impossible to play the game. Or it happens while browsing in Chrome, it takes a couple swipes to move around the screen or when you try to input something on the keyboard it will miss every other key press.
3) If I installed certain programs Wifi performance would die. For whatever reason when I installed Dropbox wifi performance on my N7 would suffer. Instead of getting steady downstream speeds it would be very slow and constantly pause during a download. I saw this anytime downloading an app in Google Play or it was impossible to watch anything on Youtube.
Tried doing a factory reset twice to track down the problem and it came back each time. Did a goog search and found many other people were dealing with the same problems so it isn't me.
The Google rep felt it was a hardware issue so they're sending me another N7... at this point I don't care if the next one has screen lift, if it doesn't have the above problems I am living with it.
The non responsive touch issue is a pain. Exchanging mine tomorrow. I canfix screen lift, but the lack of response, i cannot.

I received my second replacement abut 17 days ago (which I'm using now) and thought everything was OK until I noticed the screen lag/unresponsiveness and the headphone output doesn't work properly

I have a new n7 with no problems at all no screen lift all I did was fit a screen protector on the front and buy a yobo high quality case for it loving it got from Currys uk.
I've actually just contacted Google about returning mine due to a screen issue, at first the screen was semi responsive, then stopped working completely, no longer can i control the device unless i fully remove the back, or have the lower left portion of the back lifted while I'm using it. I've contacted Google about an exchanged and am now waiting on a response.
The screen does not respond, if I go to the main screen and put the back on, it registers a constant touch on the lower left side.
I have tried developer options, hard/soft reset, factory reset, etc.
I am unsure about what to do other than what I have but it's clear that this is a hardware issue. I am no longer willing to use the N7 I have because it literally feels like it's falling apart as well, with the creaks and such.
Thanks to Walmart and Staples for allowing me to return a total of 5 N7's and finally landing a perfect one. They all hand the common problem like screen lift, unresponsive screen, screen flickering and cracking speaker.
My suggestion is to buy it add a brick and mortar store that has no questions asked return policies, like the ones mentioned. Trust me it at the end it'll all be well worth it.

Returning my 1st one screen lift and wifi issues. Bought from the play store in UK called up and right away they sent a replacement out just send in my old one after I get it. It was a C60 from Ireland so we will see if the next one is a newer batch.

I have one from Staples bought July 18th that is perfect, a little bit of screen flicker but it's once in a blue moon, haven't seen it do it in a while, it's a c60....my other N7 was bought at Wal-Mart August 4th, c60, nothing wrong at all. As far as I can tell from doing the bezel test it's perfectly flat, no lift on either one. I push down on the left side where people say the lift starts and it doesn't make any noises on either one. If I do have it it's pretty minor, as some people are saying we "all" have lift in some way. I'm just not seeing it...and I have a blurex case that doesn't cover the bezel at all, so I can see the edges at all times. There are some c60' s that are good out there. Heck, I've been reading on here people having major screen lift with the c80 batches.

Personally, I really don't think it really matters *where* you buy it... Chances are probably better that you'll get a "good" one with the later serial numbers, but as we've seen, even some of the newest serial numbers can have problems too...
Shame on Asus for such a lack of Quality Control, but it is a great little device if you get a good one though! Extremely fast and stable device...

Many early build revisions of the nexus 7 seemed to have quality issues. I think it has been resolved. Can anyone recommend what build/date revision and later to purchase?
Just order one from play devices and you'll get the latest one....

I'm planning to purchase from staples. I have hundreds in staples gift cards to use. Any date/revision or later I should ensure I buy?
Wanted to bump this for information as well. Looking to purchase one for Christmas and purchase one for my grandpa who is having a slowly deteriorating processing condition.
Have the build issues been resolved?
I think they reduced the problems but never got rid of them. It's always hit or miss. I have an original model without problems, a friend has a c70 with squishy power button and another friend has c80 without problems. Don't worry, if there are problems just take it back to staples.

The one that I got on 29 October from Staples got the screen lift issue after 2 days. It had the serial #C09K (September built). I returned it and then got another one from office depot and so far no issue with the build quality. This one had the serial #CA0K (October built).

I have the latest CA0K and I notice a slight difference between the left and right side. The right side is flush against the silver trim and the left is like 0.1mm raised, it is hard to see. I can feel the difference by running my finger over the trimming where it meets the display. I might exchange it later when there is newer revision again since I have until January to return
Have a CB0K, which I assume is a newer model...has screen lift. :/

I bought a C07K in August which has a minor screen lift. I just bought another one CB0K model. Screen is perfect, but back cover where screen lift located is loose when you push it you can hear a creaking noise. So I exchanged it for another one CA0K model. This one is so far so good, solid built.
I think I will wait for like a CC0K model or something. I'm not sure if mine is even classified as screen lift as it's less than a 1mm difference but the display is a little recessed on every other edge so I assume it's not normal for only the left side to be a little higher.
Bought my Nexus 7 32gb model from a local walmart with first part of the SSN is C90K. Don't even see any screen lift on the device least that I can see anyways. I had the device for 3 days now and have not found any issues with it yet.
You can try running your finger nail slowly to each edge, the silver trim has a very slight elevation that should barely stop your finger nail from sliding up and over it kind of like a galaxy nexus. It's a subtle detail on the nexus 7

Because I bought it imported from USA , I checked calling ASUS that it has 1 year International warranty. So mine is also C9OK ( O letter , not 0 zero , ASUS explained that to me through their systems ) and its perfect. It came with 4.1.1 version preinstalled
I'm going to get my 7 today
It freshly arrived at Media Markt, after waiting for months.. (actually.. A few days , but it felt like months )
The sad: they claimed about tons of devices coming back due to damage etc... But okay, let's see...

I can proudly say, I don't even dropped my galaxy nexus okay, maybe it was because I paid 600€ for it... But it really lays good in my hands and since the 7s back is "rubber like", I'm looking forward to it and yeah... I'm scared as hell of opening the box.. But okay, life sometimes is risky.. no risk no fun

You are not serious i hope. Would you complain for something as minor as that? Shame on you and the paranoia going on in this thread.

Not 0.1mm but 1mm. How am I complaining? I am just stating what I see. I had my nexus for 2 weeks and I don't want to end up with what could develop into something more serious thus I may exchange it. No, I do not want to fix it any future problems myself and void the warranty. You are complaining about me being detail oriented. There's hardware revisions for a reason. I'm not saying my nexus 7 has a definite flaw that's why I discuss about it for more input.
Soon I paid for my Nexus 7 I told the cashier. I told the cashier I was going to open up the package and look at the device here in the store. I told them about the known issues with some of the batches. Turned the device on I bought right in the store and checked the whole thing out.
After looking it all ever turned out my device it good and solid.
A while ago I came across a YouTube video of a guy poopooing the Nexus 7 because while he liked the device he's had two have screens that suddenly went haywire. I fear my device is beginning to suffer the same fate.
Its a 32gb that I picked up from staples on day one of their release. Basically what happens is increasingly my swipes (long swipes... Not flicks) register as taps and sometimes don't pick up at all. Also from time to time the screen will behave randomly as if I'm seiping or tapping even when I'm not even holding the device. Normally turning the screen off will fix it but its gotten to the point that I'm now resetting the device a couple of times a day.
Basically I want to know what the best option is. Take it back to staples even though its been well beyond 30 days? Call Google support? Is there a known fix? Thanks folks.

Hey guys I've had my Nexus since a few weeks before Christmas, not long after it developed a weird mark on the screen that would only show up when the screen had just been wiped with a screen wipe but also shows color discoloration if displaying white. I took it back to Carphone Warehouse where they have told me to keep checking for stock and they will replace it, but after a disgruntled call to CPW Customer Services a few weeks after constant checking for stock I found out they are no longer selling the tablet. Now I either have the choice to send it in for repair and if they can't do that then I can get a refund. It's not an annoying problem, I could live with it if I needed to. Anyone heard of anything similar happen to their 7?
I had a similar issue with my previous nexus 7. There were two marks going up the right half of the screen. With mine they were not visible if I gave it a good wipe, but as soon as a swiped my finger across the affected area, they became visible.
I got it replaced at pcworld. I would recommend sending yours in. Even if cpw don't have stock, Asus will be able to replace or repair it.

I also got 2 weird lines on my N7 screen. First I thought it were smudges from my finger but I can't remove it its only noticeable from a certain angle when my tablet displays a dark grey color though
Sorry for my English
