As the title. Oddly the streak will be powered by it when the battery is removed (it shows the "battery missing" screen.
The battery I have is a third-party Chinese thing I got from the amazon market. It seems to do the job for other handsets I have (HTC Raph, Couple of nokia handset)
Is there anything I can do to make it work?
The USB input on the Streak requires 1000ma @5v to charge so many of the chargers on the market won't work. I just picked up a Just Mobile Gum Pro 4400mA from Amazon and it seems to work fine. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet other than to make sure the Streak shows "charging" when it's plugged in.
Here's a link.

Thanks for your info. Would appreciate if you could post your findings later.

Phjnky, have you tested it further? How long does it take to charge the streak and how many charges can you get out of this?
Does anyone else has any external battery to recommend?
Found Duracell CEF23-UK on amazon which seems like a very good idea. But it only output at 1.4v, 360mha which is useless for the streak. Does anyone know anything similar that can charge the streak?
The mobile gum pro works really well. Went on a trip and used it to power and recharge the streak. I dont recall but it seemed to recharge maybe twice from around 25% or so. It does charge rapidly about like the wall charger but I was using gogo inflight Internet and listening to Pandora, reading blogs etc while it charged. It kept the Streak going all day while on two long flights. I never fully ran it out of juice but got down to one bar.

sounds good. Might get one.
Hi all,
I also have this problem, after power off streak, i discover third party band name "MOMAX" look like charging but if i press power button once time haven't charging screen show on streak screen, only genuine powersupply or charging with pc on usb can do this job, would you have any advise ? because i can't find genuine battery in hong kong, thanks a lot
Is there such a thing as an extended battery, external, for the Streak 7? Something in the 2700 to 3700ma range?

Does the Streak 7 use the same battery as the 5" Streak?
Related to the above: I can't seem to find any information of what kind of battery the Streak 7 uses. Could it be the same battery as the original Streak (5")?

The streak 7 has a fixed battery and therefore the are no user replacements possible. The streak 5 has a normal battery cover. There is no battery cover on the S7.

I know it has an internal battery. I'm thinking an external battery pack, not a replacement battery. Something like is available for many laptops. Something that can be plugged into the charg port on the Streak 7 and extend its run time.

Ah, of course. Well, just about anything that has a USB output would work, here is one from Amazon:

So from what I have read so far, there is no battery replacement for the streak 7? My streak 7's battery has gotten worse for some reason and I was hoping for a change. Does warranty cover replacing the battery inside?

It can be replaced at the factory. I'm not sure about the warranty. If it is really bad, it may be considered a faulty battery and be covered. But of course they cannot be responsible if the battery has simply been used a lot and is depleted.
External battery
one would work and last for a good amount of time.
check out amazon the have a battery backup that seems idealmade by isound.
I'm thinking about getting one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/i-Sound-Portable-iPhone-Blackberry-Silver/dp/B00439G3WS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307800469&sr=8-1
16,000mAh would be nice to have on hand.
I would check the output voltage. The Streak 7 wall charger puts out 5.35 and charges fine. Standard USB is 5 and charges so slow it looks like it isn't. It took 9 hours for my streak 7 to charge from 60% to 100%. When in regular use, it will discharge even plugged in on USB, just not as fast. If this is following USB standards and putting out only 5vdc, you may be disappointed with that, or any, battery pack.

It's not the voltage that is causing the slow charge, it's the amperage.
The Streak is similar to the iPhones and iPads in that it draws more than the ordinary PC or Hub USB port will supply. Normal PC USB ports are limited to 500mAh. Some hubs are known to supply 1,000mAh, but they're rare.
The iPad charger supplies 2,100mAh. The Streak 7 charger supplies 2,000mAh.
That's why the charger will charge up the Streak 7 much quicker than a PC or hub - roughly four times as fast.

I have a USB battery pack that provides 5vdc at 2700ma and when my streak 7 is plugged in, it does not charge after being plugged in for 20 minutes. But the streak battery gets down to 4% and holds for 3 more hours before totally dying. It's the voltage of the standard USB that is the biggest problem for an external power source. Normally u can plug a device into a battery pack like mine and recharge its battery. I use it a few times a week to recharge my phone. But the streak 7 needing 5.35 vdc means the best u can get is keeping it alive on an external source, but not actually recharge its internal battery.

I'm confused W.O.W. I was wondering where you got the 5.35v for charging the streak, so I went and grabbed my dell wall charger and my t-mobile car charger. The wall charger does in fact say that it is supplying 5.35v (at 2 amps)! (Sorry, I didn't believe you until I saw it for myself. )
The thing that I find very strange is that my streak charges just fine in the car with my T-Mobile Dell Streak 7 charger, and it only outputs 5.0v (at 1 amp).
So... I'm wondering why yours is giving you grief... Hmmm...?

How long does the Streak 7 take to recharge at that current? I'm guessing about 6 hours?
Sent from my Dell Streak 7 using XDA Premium App
I haven't had the streak do a full charge in the car. But on my commute I get about 20% top-up from a 35 minute drive. So that should be about 2 1/2 to 3 hours for a full charge.
Oh how I long for the days when companies follow industry standards. And for the days when companies wait to put a product out until it was ready. * Hey Dell, Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Barnes and Noble, how about a removable battery in the next series of 7" tablets*
So if we ignore the 500ma max for USB, and change it to whatever we like, we can cram all the current we like and still say it's USB? Ugh.
Thanks for the numbers
I'm gonna guess that the reason my battery pack only shows charging for 20ish minutes is cuz as it charges the Streak 7, it discharges, and after that time the voltage has dropped enough to not register as a charge, but since the electrons are still there, the tablet will consume them. In a car, the 5vdc from the charger is maintained by the cars charging system, so it never drops below.

That'd be my guess too.

It's the amperage for sure. The device will draw as much as it needs up to the max amount of amps the charger is rated for.
For example: If the device pulls up to say 750mAh when charging and you only supply 500mAh then charging will be slower. If the device will only pull 750mAh then throwing 2Amps won't do any better than a charger that will supply 750mAh.
How much draw the device will actually pull I do not know. Since the supplied charger is rated up to 2Amps then odds are the device will pull just under that.
You can get a high Amp car charger/usb adapter at RatShack: Model: 2730-501 | Catalog #: 270-057. I like at least 2Amps for my devices. This one is 2.5.
I mounted a home dock in my car and power it off of this adapter/charger. It works like a champ.
DO NOT throw more voltage at the unit then what is listed on the wall charger.
More Amps=Good
More Voltage=Smoking Tablet
this is the one im planing to get it has 5.35 v
amazoncom/gp/product/B004362208/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3E5K6GEFSI075
just add a dot after amazon
I got this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003M9Z5F6
I wanted to use it with my Eneloop batteries, but two units down and no dice. It'll charge for a couple of seconds and then die. I may simply opt for a refund.
I've had my Nexus 7 plugged into the USB port on my laptop for the whole day, and I'm seeing the battery level dropping slowly throughout the day at the rate of one percent every few minutes. The battery indicator shows that it's charging. I've rebooted the OS a few times, and I don't run any apps after boot up. The tablet is warm to the touch, and Battery Disc shows 34 degrees celsius, which abnormal for the idle state (it's usually in the low 20's). Attached is a screenshot of all the running apps. I upgraded to 4.2 two days ago, and this just started happening today.
This shouldn't be a case of USB port not providing enough current, because the same port charged my N7 fine before.
Any ideas?
Do you have the same issue when using a real charger?

I'm not sure actually. I'll have to find out when I get home as that's where the charger is.
My streak 7 won't charge at all. I tried to call Dell and they're giving me s*it about how I don't own this and someone else does even though I'm the first owner. Anyway, it won't charge whatever I do it just won't. Does anyone know what's wrong? Thanks!
More than likely your charging port is broken.
