My streak 7 won't charge at all. I tried to call Dell and they're giving me s*it about how I don't own this and someone else does even though I'm the first owner. Anyway, it won't charge whatever I do it just won't. Does anyone know what's wrong? Thanks!
More than likely your charging port is broken.

Hmm... I heard that it is supposed to be this way, which I don't like at all.
I have a dock. So it can be charged and connect to PC at the same time.
But yes, it is annoying, especially for a lousy battery life and you can't charge it using your laptop on the roadtrip.

Ya, that really sucks. I bought the dock as well, but it hasn't arrived yet.
Guess I will call Dell up to make a complaint, I am sure it is a software issue stopping it from charging, hope enough people complain that they change it.
It seems like it maintains without charging
This may just be me, but when I was plugged into my computer it seemed like it maintained it's current state without going any higher or lower.
Just wanted to know if any one here has tried this..

My streak is in the mail on it's way to me... I want to get a big battery, and a charge dock.
about 3 posts under this one!!!!!!
Every time i plug in the charger it thinks im plugging in a dock. All it would do is go into docking mode. Now the battery is dead and it won't do anything. Anyone have any advice on a fix or alternate way to charge. I tried every way possible of resetting before it died but to no avail. I appreciate any and all help guys.

My streak 5 did this to me, without any time to waste I went to Best Buy and bought one flat out, tried the new cable and I was good to go, I kept the good cable and returned the new phone to Best Buy.... crappy thing to do I know but i couldn't go without and dell was the only place to get cable.

Sounds like this might be a solution, unless it's the Streak7 that has the connectors wrong.
I'd guess that this has to do with the connexion points in the PDMI cable or port. It has pins that will trigger dock mode and pins that will trigger battery charging (iirc), so perhaps either the ones on the cable or on the S7 are switched around (or have some sort of jump going on due to poor QA).
Ugh, my new Dell 7 won't charge now either. I did charge it once, then flashed HoneyStreak, and now it won't charge. It can connect to my computer's USB port, but no charging.
I think I saw someone suggest to go back a version of HoneyStreak. Any suggestions?

The S7 cannot charge from the computer USB port; it only works with the mains adapter supplied with the device.

What's annoying is the LED goes red like it's charging, but it isn't... or it's draining faster than it's charging.

After looking further into my problem, i see now that part of the board where you plug it in at is broken. Dell sent me a new one, so im gonna crack it open and try bypassing the old charge port and put in a new usb port to charge it with. Then ill have two of them. Ill never know why dell didnt go usb on this thing anyway. Oh wait they did that so we cant buy aftermarket cables for it! Damn is dell owned by microsoft!! Lol. But thx for all the help and helpful ideas everyone!

I am having this problem with a new streak I got for one of my boys, the connector inside is broken. Did you ever get the part replaced? Or is it just an expensive paperweight? What did you have to do to change it out?

I think they planned to have an expansion port, where the connector was used for other things, like HDMI perhaps. HP did the same thing with the Slate 500.

Hi. I've had my Dell streak since November. One day it stopped charging. I am currently abroad living in Guatemala where the warranty is not covered, so I was wondering is it possible to open the dell streak and exchange the power source to a mini usb? Does anyone know if it has been done or any general thoughts on the subject?
Won't work, drivers and motherboard issues.
micro USB doesnt supply sufficient charge through the cable to support charging the device, you need at least 1amp to charge the streak 7 micro usb only delivers half of that
Guide
So... its been done before... I think I might as well give it a try... look at this

Ive got a dell streak 7 from a friend "given" hes says the charging port is bad. the 30 pin connector. my question is, if the battery was bad would the charging light still come on. It doesnt charge at all. i was hoping to get out of sodering a new connecter on. Oh it doesnt turn on.
What color is the charging LED? It's red if real low, amber about midway and turns green at around 90% full.
It doesn't lite up at all. Do you know if the streak 5, 30 pin will work with a streak 7. what I should say is do you know where to buy parts, sorry.
The connector is the same, the actual motherboard ports could be different though. (as in how they're physically anchored/etc)

I don't think a S5 cord will work and I have no idea where to get parts.
