Google Maps Disappeared - Nook Color General

I just installed Froyo onto my new Nook Color. When I rooted my NC, the Google maps app was installed and detected my location, using the wireless signal I'm assuming. However since installing Froyo this app has disappeared. The maps.google.com website on the dolphin browser works fine (but slow), and cannot detect my location. Visiting Google Maps 5.0 on market.android.com indicates that the app has already been installed and will not download ("the device is not supported").
What should I do to either reinstall the app or make it visible on my app library?
Thanks for any help.

Android Market WORK Around using AppBrain

So I have been able to get appbrain 5.51 and newest fastwebinstaller2.11 loaded on my Nook. I have a seperate account on appbrain.com for my nook setup. After a little trial and error I was able to get Angry Birds and a few other protected apps to load using fast web installer.
Seems that once I have installed a protected app using appbrain they show up in the market as well.
NOTE I have only tried a couple protected apps so far. If folks have a list I am willing to try any, I just am not sure what is protected and what is not. I have not ran into but a few I could not see in the market.
Steps
1.Install Appbrain 5.51
2.Install FastWeb installer 2.11
3.Setup Appbrain.com account
4.Run Appbrain app on Nook, login to account setup in step 3
5. Go to preferences and enable fast web installer to your appbrain account
(note the first time I did this I got can't enable, went to settings>app>fasteweb clear cache/force close, restarted app brain and it worked) I need to go over this again and figure out exactly what I pushed.
6. Now if 5 worked, search either via appbrain app, and install or via appbrain.com must be on wifi for this to work of course. If your in the appbrain app you will see three options at the bottom of the app your looking at, share/market/install. hit install!!
Hopefully this works for folks.
I am running 0.6.8 on sdcard, 1.1ghz.
Helped another with the 0.6.7 on sdcard all inclusive image get setup and it seems to work.
WARNING do not use the same appbrain account on your android phone as appbrain will then push apps to both devices.
Good luck
didn't work for me

NC Honeycomb Some GApps Not Working

I recently rooted my NC and installed Honeycomb on it. I was finally able to (after days of trial and error) install the google apps on the Honeycomb via my Mac (I didn't have access to a PC).
Anyways, Maps works but that's about it. Gmail, Market, Talk do not work.
They don't even open and sometimes if they do they force close immediately. I never had the option to set up my google account when Honeycomb first launched on my NC. I'm wondering if that is the problem considering the apps that require your Google Account do not seem to be working.
I've tried to clear data from the application settings and even unistalled and reinstalled of them.
Anyone have any suggestions?

[Q] Google Map Download

I have been wondering that after using cyanogenmod for some time now I and my wifes N1s could not download or update google map from the market unless we use market enabler..
So what I do is go to freewarelovers.com and dl latest map there, any idea how this can be fixed guys? ta
Probably the downloaded Maps is not compatibile with market (some differente version or sign).
Try to complete uninstall it and re-install from market.
It could be that google ran into licensing restrictions in your country and that is why it was removed from your market. The gmail app cannot be downloaded in Germany without using Market Enabler since google doesn't own the gmail name. All gmail addresses in Germany will show as @googlemail.com.

[Q] Unable to download from market with 3G

I have the Droid 3 and recently updated to 5.6.890.XT862 before the push and now unable to download anything from the Android Market only using 3G. I get the orange triangle stating : Download size requires Wi-Fi. Does not matter size of download.
I am able to download via Amazon appstore with 3G. Also once connected to Wi-Fi downloads work fine.
Any suggestions? is this a glitch with the S/W update?
Thanks
Settings > Battery & data manager > Data Saver, turn it off
I love it when its something dumb that I did. Thanks for the help.
I am also on a "pre released" .890 update and now the Market doesn't inform me of app updates.
I was browsing the market last night and noticed at least 5 app updates on my own. Every app was checked for automatic updating, and I checked my Market settings and the "Notifications" check box is absolutely checked! WTF.
That's been happening to me lately. I read about a google maps update and when I went to "My Apps" it didn't have any update available. I had to search for google maps then it had the update tab. It has done this on about 3-4 apps so far that I've noticed.
edit: I just noticed that I can't install any of my paid apps in the market unless I uninstall the market app update and install everything that I want until the market updates itself. I have no custom rom, latest .890, and rooted (no apps deleted/frozen). Any idea's?
edit 2: I turned off my wifi and market is working fine on 3g. I can download paid apps over wifi with older market app but not new market. I can download free apps from the market with wifi on. Weird?

I use a supplemental market called appbrain... A lot of times, I notice when I open that, it finds updates that the gmarket either normally wouldn't have found, or is just slow about doing it's job... :/

Google Maps won´t download offline maps

Hey all,
Tried the board search for a possible solution to my prob, to no avail so far:
I am using a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, GP5110, android 4.0.3.
Fully rooted, avast! security installed as firewall, running in whitelist mode - I rather allow those few application I like internet access and have everything else blocked by default, with the ongoing permission-hunger of most app developers I figured to be better safe than sorry.
My problem: Googles` Maps App is running perfectly fine, however when I try to download any offline maps (settings -> make available offline) it just opens a tab called "My Places", showing my map indicating 0.0MB/0.0MB, download never starts.
I tried whitelisting a number of different system processes - such as was necessary to get the youtube app running - but was not successful identifying the correct ones.
Anybody out there who could help?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Chris
Can you not turn the firewall off , download the maps you want then turn it back on ? I have managed to download offline maps but avast firewall was not on ..... just a thought.
Would probably work, but I'm rather looking for a permanent solution than a workaround... Thanks for your suggestion though!
Go to settings -> Clear all offline maps
Then open Google Play, uninstall Google Maps, then update Google Maps, Restart Device,
Now it works on mine. There should be a notification section called "Downloaded Maps" which tells you the progress, as well as inside Google maps.
