Does anyone know where to get a replacement screen and how to change it out?

That's a great question. Did you local BN have any advice? It wouldn't even have occurred to me to look for 3rd party parts. Do they sell those for phones and stuff, too? Like if I cracked the screen on my DX, for example?

Alright found a cheap way! It has been past 30 days so I can't add insurance. On amazon, ebay, and other sites, they sale Droid 3 digitizers which is basically a replacement of the top part of the phone (the screen and piece around it, has to all be replaced). The digitizer costs anywhere from $50-$70. That is not bad at all considering your doing it almost the same price as an insurance claim
Just thought I would let anyone know in case they were as lucky as me to break it already, or may have another phone w/a cracked screen, just search digitizers

How did the replacement go? I knocked my daughters phone out of the car and broke the screen and I feel awful so I'm going to give it a try.
I ended up just selling the phone as is and got a bionic. But honestly doing it yourself can be dangerous. Break one ribbon and the phone is useless. However Motorola did say they would replace for $110+ shipping as a standard price.

I actually cracked an incredible screen that same way. It just takes one lucky fall. They normally never scratch but yes will crack. No they don't suck because they are shatter proof so even if you crack your screen you aren't out a phone permanently. I recommend a screen protector cause if it does crack with One on it normally doesn't crack the main part of the screen.

Which screen did you buy? I cracked the glass on my HTC Vivid, but everything is working fine still. As my Nexus 5 comes in today, I figure I'll give it a shot at replacing the screen one of these weekends. I found some tutorials online but I'm just not sure which screen to buy since there are so many options online.
I started tearing my phone down, chickened out 1/2 way through. Ended up paying $125+tax although I traded 2 old phones in and got it down to $60.

im not sure which one, got it off amazon. it was $20.00 though so it wasnt to expensive
Ran over my thrill in my driveway after I didn't notice it fall out of my pocket. Anyways, the glass is shattered and I can't see anything but random colors where it isn't cracked. My question is, do I need an LCD and a digitizer? Also, where do you guys recommend I buy these parts? I have a Galaxy S2 SkyRocket now but I would like to fix this phone and have it as a backup. Thanks!
Any time I've fixed an old phone I've used eBay to get the parts. Usually you can find what you need at a reasonable price.

Would I need the LCD as well?
How can I tell whether a digitizer is fake or not. I feel able to replace it myself but looking through eBay I can see some of them have HTC logo some of them hasn't. Is the logo part of the screen? Is it part of the digitizer?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I don't really think there is such thing as a "fake" digitizer. The ones that doesn't have a logo is most likely digitally blacked out on the photo to avoid legal issues.

I would take the chance... A digitizer is a digitizer... Of sorts... If it was a LCD that would be a different conversation. think you'll be alright.

Hi,
One out of the two 32GB touchpad has had this weird series of lines going across one section of the screen since day one. It appeared intermittently in the beginning but now it has gotten worse. I used to be able to just turn the screen off and on and it would go away but now it won't anymore. The touch sensor still works over the area where the lines are. Just checking to see if anyone knows what the root of the problem is and whether replacing the digitizer will correct it? Thanks.

I would say its a problem with the LCD screen, not the digitiser. Each can be replaced independently of the other, just so ya know
Cheers
Thanks. I know it could be one or the other. I wanted to try to narrow it down so I won't have to buy both.
