[Q] Firmware with RIL working as expected? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello forum members.
I have a development Galaxy Tab. I was directed to replace the stock firmware with a «more open» one.
First I tried MoDaCo firmware. Great disaster, device was bricked, internal storage destroyed... I was able to somehow make the device work again. Flashed the device with MoDaCo just to find out, that many of the original stuff was not there any more: Bulgarian language support was incomplete, keyboard had no Bulgarian layout.
Second attempt: revert to stock. Before the disaster I had written my original version (*#1234#*):
Code:
PDA: P1000XWJJ7
PHONE: P1000XXJK5
CSC: P1000OXFJK3
I found the «original» firmware set from http;//www,thegalaxytabforum,com/index.php?/topic/112-samsung-galaxy-tab-firmware-list/.
However after flashing it, I found out the versions were wiped:
Code:
PDA:
PHONE: P1000XXJK5
CSC:
Yes, the PDA and CSC are empty.
Third attempt: Overcome Rom 1.4.1.
I found it does not handle battery well (dies at 77% charge, but starts with 75% when full).
The problem with this firmware is that I can no longer obtain neighbouring phone cells. After obtaining system information (*#*#INFO#*#*) and phone details, I took a look at the RIL log (*#RIL#*) and found out something disconcerting:
Code:
D/RILJ ( 2579): [0174]> REQUEST_GET_NEIGHBORING_CELL_IDS
D/RILC ( 2378): [0174]> GET_NEIGHBORING_CELL_IDS
D/RILC ( 2378): [0174]< GET_NEIGHBORING_CELL_IDS fails by E_REQUEST_NOT_SUPPORTED
D/RILJ ( 2579): [0174]< REQUEST_GET_NEIGHBORING_CELL_IDS error: com.android.internal.telephony.CommandException: REQUEST_NOT_SUPPORTED
This is something I need working.
Today I tried flashing the JK5 again, just to find out, that the versions are:
Code:
PDA: P1000XXJK5
PHONE: P1000XXJK5
CSC: P1000OXAJK5
And RIL does not supply neighbouring cells again!
I am COMPLETELY SURE it was working with the original firmware!
Please advise: what firmware set supports Neighbouring Cell reporting?

[Q] Can I recover baseband (phone) version on galaxy I 9000

Hi all,
Me and myfriend have the same galaxy s, and we did next...
We wanted to enable 3 button combo, and DID NOT READ ENOUGHT so:
A month ago, on my phone we changed registry of kies, so kies thought we are in Canada, and sucesfuly updated frimware trough kies.
Than we realized that I have Canadian Bell frimware, which is not fuly suported in our country, and tried to rollback frimware.
In midtime, I tried *#272*hhmm#, and used option BMC, whitch preconfigured my phone, like I bough it in Bell. WTF, i had bell app on my phone...
Than pain started.
I was playing with odin.. Tried several frimwares, had some serious issues with signal reception ( in area with 2/3 of signal strenght, had no signal), market did not work, or did not wont to download anything..
******
Bricked phone several times
******
Whic by the way, proved me, that this phone is fabolous, because it is sofware indestractuble... (ONLY THING TO WATCH OUT ---- FULL BATERY, AND ENABLED 3 BUTTONS COMBO---)
And after few days of resarching, used ROMmanager, backuped friends Galaxy S, put in my phone, used backup, and evrything works fine.
EXCEPT
PHONE: I9000XXJM1
I have on my phone PHONE: I9000XXJG1
Does have enybody an idea, where to take I9000XXJM1, from friends I9000, where on his phone could it be found?
The problem is, that baseband version and PDA/CSC do not match, and kies regpatch does not anymore work.
On my phone, I have:
PDA: I9000XFJM3
PHONE: I9000XXJG1
CSC: I9000OXFJM1
and I should have:
PDA: I9000XFJM3
PHONE: I9000XXJM1
CSC: I9000OXFJM1
P.S. I used again *#272*hhmm# set the sealer code VIP, sealers code is fixed, but baseband version is still unchanged.

You will have to register if you have not done yet, but you can find the firmware your search for there.
Also, you didnt "brick" your phone. Bricked means its broken, wont turn on, wont allow to be flashed and is a paperweight and needs some kind of hardware replacement. I would use the term screwed up the phone, or hooped it, or f'd it up But bricked is the incorrect term
Cheers!
Tnx for the try, but i need
PDA: I9000XFJM3
PHONE: I9000XXJM1
CSC: I9000OXFJM1
I looked there and there is no I9000XFJM3...
My question was, if u have on your phone
PDA: I9000XFJM3
PHONE: I9000XXJM1
CSC: I9000OXFJM1
can u take PHONE: I9000XXJM1, and put it on another device, I managed to do it with PDA and CSC..

[Q] Phone shows no PDA and no CSC

When I type *#1234# to check out what pda/phone/csc version i got, it comes up as this:
PDA :
PHONE: I9000XXMJ4
CSC :
I flashed to JM8 to update through Kies again, but Ive tried other roms aswell, with same result.
Tried the manual part from here but without any luck, my phone said "MUST BE THREE LETTERS!" or something, it showed at top "XEE" and below was just a empty spot, with a dot to the right i could click on, but that didnt helt neither, and neither did it to press the XEE.
Ive tried Kies-registryhack to update the phone, without any luck.
With using *#*#44336#*#* i get:
INTERNAL VERSION
VERSION:
PDA: I9000XWJM8
PHONE:I9000XXJM4
CSC: Unknown
Build time 2010.08.31. (weird sign) 09:45:32 kst
Changelist: Unknown
With using *#*#4986*2650468#*#* i get :
PDA : I9000XWJM8
approved PDA :
Phone: I9000XXJM4
H/W : MP 0.800
RFCallDate: 2010.6.14
CSC : Unknown
approved CSC: Unknown
Anyone know how to fix this issue with PDA and CSC? and also make it update through kies?
Edit: I figured out that I didnt try with the kies registry patcher program yet, did that and it worked flawless, phone now says JPA, wich is latest one in sweden, and csc is recognized aswell. Problem solved!

[Q] Returning to stock for a fresh start

Hi, My situation is the following:
I had a Galaxy S with the following stats:
MODEL: GT-I9000T
PDA: I9000TUBJG5
PHONE: I9000TUBJG7
CSC: I9000TUUBJG4
FIRMWARE VERSION : 2.1-update1
Baseband version I9000TUBJG7
Kernel version: 2.6.29 latin.umts(at)samsung #2
Build number: ECLAIR.UBJG5
I got impatient, and try to flash it to 2.2, after a lot of missteps and messed up stuff i got it working. Everything was fine until it started to crash and the wifi just stopped working a couple weeks after the change.
So, I want to go back to my stock status(like fresh out of the box), and then, with my new "experience" I'll try different things.
How can I do that? The main problem should be the firmware, I do have access to an other phone with the original stats(bought 2 that day) would that help?

Any experience with flashing Europ. firmware on Asian SGS ?

I would like to flash a new Europ. FW version (say XWJS8 = ver. 2.2.1) to my phone with PDA: I9000ZSJPD / PHONE: ZSJPE / CSC: ZSJPD and ProductCode GT-I9000HKDVD2.
Has anyone of you tried this? I am afraid of any problems since the ProductCode does would not match the Europ. Firmware.
Thanks for some feedback
i tried a long time ago from dxjg4 to xwjpa using kies(it was possible before)
totally changed my prod code from xso to kor hahaha
but i dont know about your firmware
I was on DXJG4 too but I flashed to European firmware without a glitch. Mind you, I only flashed the "international" european versions, the one with XX as first two letters. Just like stated above, the only side effect is that it will change your CSC product code to KOR. But just a couple of months ago I changed it to XEU without any problem.
EDIT: Oh yeah I used Kies (tricked Kies, not it doesn't work) before and now I use ODIN for flashing

[Q] HELP! radio down after flashing firmware

Hi,
I'm newbie with SGS, I tried to flash an official italian firmware 2.2.1 with Odin and 3 files. Everything appears ok, but now the phone module don't starts. On notification bar only a no-entry sign. Wifi works fine.
With *#1234# shows:
PDA: I9000RSJS2
PHONE: UNKNOWN
CSC: I9000ITVJS1
BUILD INFO: 2011.01
With *2767*4387264636# shows:
service mode... nothing.
Originally, the product code was from a portuguese device, the firmware a 2.1-update1 release.
Any chance to recover the situation? The phone enters in download & recovery mode...
Have you checked to see whether your APN settings are correct?

Phone should be I9000XXJPY, like all european 2.2.1 ROMS
Try to flash the modem only, check in ODIN that it lists modem.bin as being copied to the device.
Yes, I've tried to reflash a h3g rom (I have a h3g sim).
And it is not an apn problem, I can't access the phone signal at all, I get only a no-entry simbol on tray notification and can't make calls. Now it's getting to be a bit worried...

Hi,
originally I think to remember something like WTY, or WTI... in the box there are 2 manuals, 1 in english and 1 in portuguese... that's why I thought it could by portuguese firmware. The one I fashed was JPY, like you said.
The roms I downloaded in the package contains a modem file in this format: MODEM_I9000XXJPY.tar.md5. Not .bin. Can I flash it alone, with no pit file and "re-partition" option disabled? That's correct?
Thanks to all for your attention.
Another try, I flashed a JP1 radio from recovery, the process has gone well, but the phone still seems to not recognize radio. After *#1234#:
PDA: I9000RSJS2
PHONE: UNKNOWN
CSC: I9000ITVJS1
BUILD INFO: 2011.01
The telephone does not show the IMEI with *#06#... nothing.
Have to send it to assistance?
