[Q] Trouble with the Camera (Video) - LG Optimus 2x

Hi everyone,
i'm having some hard time with the camera app. Either Stock or Modaco Gilgamesh ROM. Doesn't matter which one i use.
The first time after flashing i can shoot video perfectly. After the first reboot of the phone i can't shoot video anymore. Neither SD or HD, internal or external SD Card.
Taking pictures is not affected by it. I simply don't know if i am the one messing it up or if the camera app is just plain buggy. Anyone else experience this as well ?
I'm sitting here now with a useless video function
Thanks in advance,
Ben

I was using GOTO Lockscreen before and it was crashing my camera app. I couldnt use the camera when GOTO was installed, but after i uninstalled GOTO the camera started to work as normal. If you are using GOTO Lockscreen then uninstall it and see if it makes a difference

Hey Tookie,
thanks for your reply, i'm not using it though. In fact the app doesn't crash, i can use it, it just does not record any video file anymore. I can hit the record button and it makes new files on the SD card, but all with 0 bytes though.
The timer doesn't start counting as well.
EDIT: Am i really the only one experiencing this problem ? :S

Video recording problem

Hi all, noone know how to handle with the issue (and it seems is a common thing with a lot of rom) of Videocamera recording app, where the volume button dosen't control the Zoom in/out anymore after the update into 2.1? (i'm absolute sure when i buy it with 2.0.1 they works), it's really strange because with the photocamera app they still works.
The downside is, i can't find ANY third part app from market (or else place) for replace the default video recording application -.-
I'm hunting down a solution for that, any suggest? maybe install videocamera app from another device or whatelse?

Camera app broken? Panorama, coupling shot, etc not swing results until restart

Hi,
as you can read in the headline I have a problem with the main camera app on my unrooted Sgs (Froyo 2.2 through Kies). Every time I take a picture with one of the special camera features (panorama, coupling shot, etc) it starts the process and everything goes.fine until it tries to show the results but it just shows the last taken picture of the standard setting.
However when I restart my phone all the pictures I did are there, even in the right order.
I think either the camera app are the gallery app are broken or even something else.
I tried to replace both apps with SGS-tools from the market but nothing happens (I think I need root for that?).
Other file browsers aren't showing the pictures too.
Anyone else having the problem?
Is it possible to temporary root my phone with z4root to replace the apps and unroot again or wouldn't you recommend that?
Thank you a lot.

Edit: it seems I can access the pictures through the file browser but it takes a looooong lag before finally showing them in the gallery app and it only shows them in poor quality (panorama pictures are pixelated like hell ) until I restart.
Its so weird since I don't have any problems when shooting in standard mode.

[Q] Camera Having to Rescan Media?

Anyone else annoyed by this? When I take photos with the default 2.2 camera app, they don't show up in the gallery. I have to install and run the "rescan media root" application. Kind of annoying when you want to share a photo quickly.
This problem is especially bad with the Camera Magic application, which is a great little free app, and has a gallery button, but never shows the pictures in the gallery until I have run rescan media root.
Please move to Q&A if you want, I thought this forum was the best place for this.

The default camera shouldnt be doing that. The 3rd party camera on the other hand... only real solution to that would be write the app devs.

[Q] HELP! camera will not work

Hi,
My camera will not load properly , the app launches and I can see images through the camera, but none of the buttons load and so I cannot take an image!
as there is no dedicated camera button I am left with a fancy view finder!
can anyone help me with the stock camera APK? or some help on how I restore the camera function without reloading the stock ROM again please?
thanks
bit more detail-
I installed Camera360. and it would appear that once I uninstalled that app it screwed up the native camera app. If i put Camera360 back on, that works with No issues but the native app still does not work.
Camera 360 does not scale correctly to the screen which is quote annoying

I guess it is just question of time. Root will be needed. 15s restriction is set up because of limited internal storage and for avoiding of transfering big video files via BT to phone.
I'm currently loading up several different camera apps to see if they make a difference to get past it. I've tried a couple that did - but the video came out all bad. Trying some more and will let you know.

I was actually planning on building a camera app today to test out on the gear that will remove the time limit. I am thinking that I should have a storage overlay as well so that you know if you are running low on space. Will update when I have something to test.
I've decompiled and had a look at Samsung camera apk, but couldn't find any where to change it. I'm sure it's there, just not sure what I'm looking for

I've tested a few Camera apps - can say that a lot of them force closes or records weirdly. However, UCam Pro is working without the 15sec limitation:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ucamera.ucampro&hl=en
Its free too.. not too bad of an app but a touch on the fiddly side.
thank you guys for the reply, hope some one can make a new camera apk which get rid of the time limitation!!

Just flash the amazing Null Rom. Has a 60 second video limit plus loads of other goodies.
