[Q] wifi problem - HD7 General

It seems thats since I did the nodo update my phone has stopped connecting to wifi. Every time I try to connect I get the message that my phone cannot reach the wifi. I cannot even connect to my home wifi. I have tried a factory reset, I restored my phone on zune back to the original setting, and then redid the nodo update and still unable to connect. Any suggestions.

I have you tried restarting your WIfi Router?
NODO update also gives your MAC address now in the ' ABout your phone Section'
You could always try to add it to your wifi router
have a poke at your wife router settings and see there
best of luck

I have the same problem on my HTC HD7 imported from Taiwan.
Firmware: 2250.09.16901.707
Radio: Software: 5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U
Radio Hardware: A.102.0.D4
Bootloader: 1.69.2250.0(117833)
It just doesn't connect to any wifi, be it secure or non-secure. I am extremely tensed, as HTC in my country won't cover it under warranty
The error that I get is "Connection Unsuccessful. Your phone couldn't reach the network XYZ."
A little help needed here, please!

Do y guys transmit the SSID? If not there is a HTC app in Marketplace that does the trick. Did you already delete the exisitng connection and reconfigured it?

I just rebooted my home WiFi router and not had a problem since.

Yes SSID is being transmitted. I have tried almost all combinations possible. WPA,WPA2,WEP,Open and b,g,b/g. Rebooted my router many many times. Nothing works! HTC service center care guys have no clue what's going on when they see that message.
I read somewhere about the "wi-fi" bug in some HD7 devices and Dell Venue pro. Is this the same thing?

Wireless LAN Setup

The WiFi functionality of my AT&T Tilt was working then suddenly it couldn't connect to my home network. It displays the network as available but when it tries to connect, the icon turns to unavailable.
The home network is protected with WEP, but even if I remove the security, the phone will not connect.
I restored the phone to a very early Sprite backup when everything was working correctly and it still would not connect.
Is there something I could to (besides 'clear storage' that would reset WiFi?
perhaps it would help, if you go to:
start -> setting -> connections -> wlan -> energy-mode and set to optimized for performance
at me this gives a bit more speed at loading webpages, perhaps you will get a better connection
(perhaps this differs to you, cause i have a german rom and the workthrough above is translated in my mind )
bye andré
Thanks - I have done that and still cannot get a connection. It seems as if the HTC does not like something with my router (but that was not always the case).
Bill
deleting profile under wifi and resetup also won't work?
i run on wpa2 / psk security with no problems, perhaps an problem with wep?! but if you tried without security, this shouldn't be the problem
do you have the chance, to try your kaiser t another wlan at a friend or at work? to see if the problem is not your home-network
Thanks - will try another network just in case however I have 2 laptops currently running on the network with no problem.

Same problem, I tried everything from changing settings on the phone, on the router. Hard reset, soft reset...etc. I am running the stock HTC rom 1.56.405.5 and radio 1.27.12.11
Any help??

Unable to connect to detected wifi signal

hi everyone, i have some problems with the wireless function of my kaiser.
yesterday i tried scanning for wireless networks in my Uni and though I can detect wireless networks I couldn't connect to it at all.
i am not sure whether the set i bought has problems with the wireless networks.
On the Wireless Lan, somehow SSID , bssid tx and rx rates dont appear, despite clicking on change network and selecting on the correct network.
it says it is connecting then changes back to available without giving any error messages.
going back to WL, status is 'unconnected'
ip is 0.0.0.0.
When I try clicking on renew IP, nothing happens. the IP remains as 0000
under LEAP, the correct SSID and authentication type is displayed.
but when i try to enroll, enter my user id and password (Server is my ssid ?) and retrieve certificate it tells me that i am unable to do so.
How can I use it to connect to Uni network?
Is this server name the ssid ?
Is it a Cisco access point ? If it is for some reason youwon't be able to connect. I have the same problem as well

possible. i mean the it helpdesk runs the place like a military camp. doesnt tell us anything.
using a cisco vpn client though.
anyway i tried something by accident. i didnt bother reinstalling vpn client or the login software or attempt to connect to detected networks. simply tried connecting to the sch's intranet. somehow, it worked. though i didnt venture pass the homepage
I had the same issue
I hade exactly the same issue with the Cisco router we have here in my office.
Originally I thought it was my HTC Wizard as it would find the SSID but not log on, it would report it as unavailable.
I changed over to the TyTN II and exactly the same problem.....
However I have resovled this issue and I now connect semlessly to our metwork.
Basically I flashed my TyTN II (which was an O2 Stellar when I bought it from the UK) to the HTC shipped WM6 ROM and it connected straight away with no need to setup the wifi settings.
It may have had something to do with the fact I had to HardSPL it first and that sorted it our or just replacing the ROM.
Having only had this phone for a week I was a little nervous flashing but as long as you follow the very easy instructions it is fool proof.
I hope that helps.
I have similar problem with my Kaiser, can I ask which ROM/Radio you flashed and a possible link to the files ?
I'm on T-Mobile in the UK although the phone is an HTC Sim free handset
Rom 1.56.405.5
Radio 1.27.12.32
The phone went away for repair at HTC in the UK, it came back with a new ROM installed and since then I've not manged to get it to connect to my wireless router

xperia wifi problems

i have a linksys WRT54GX4. When I try to connect to it using the xperia, it tries to connect for a few seconds and then the status shows unavailalbe then a couple seconds later the status of the router goes back to available but i can never connect to it. The router is running a DHCP server and the wireless security is WEP 128bit and the authentication is open. I don't know why it doesn't want to connect. I really need to sort this out. Anyone else experience this problem? The phone connects to other routers in my neighborhood though, so it might be the router, but i have other devices connected to the router and they are just fine.
Haven't used that router before but maybe you could try updating the routers firmware to the lastest available.
These should be available from the manufacturers website.
already tried its the latest.th erouter isn't giving me any problems on my othe computers/ laptops. Is it possible that the x1 just isn't compatible with it?
Do you have any other security, i.e. MAC filtering, turned on?
no i never mess with the more advanced settings. BTW I even tried disabling all encryption basically unprotected, and it still gave the same problems! Thanks for the quick replies also.
Hmmmm......
Ok, I know its a pain but try changing your security from WEP to WPA.
Everyone with wireless should really use WPA or above, WEP is quite crackable with various free tools floating around the net.
yea but shouldn't it have connected with NO encryption whatsoever?
Hpoefully a hard reset will fix your problem?
I had the same problem but i thougt it was becuse ny router but i tried to connect to other networks aswell an got the same problem, well later on my phone stopped accepting files thrue the usb cable. and didt want to install some cab files that i had istalled before and knew was working.
I had enough and decided to hard reset it and it really fixed all my problems.
so hopyfully it will for you too..
Good luck.
yea i'm gonna try now, hopefull that will work, did u hard reset thorugh the iption in settings, or did you do it physiclaly through buttons>?
Havent had that problems ... what i do is allow only my devices mac address to connect ...
my psp as well as gf psp
2 desktop + laptop
htc touch cruise
xperia
and home media player
Everything else gets denied, cant really beat mac address filtering.
ok just tried a hard reset and still didn't work. The signal strength is full but the phone never even gives me that automatic message that there is a network available, but it does this for other routers in my neighborhood.

Actually, you can, but that's for another forum
OK PROBLEM SOLVED. Did a factory reset on my router, then the phone connected. But when I went to change the channel from auto to 10, the wifi stopped connecting. After that, any susequent changes to the channel; whether I tried a different channel or set it back to auto, did not work and the only way to get it back was factory reset the router. So basically I have resseted my router, and have not touched the channel settings and it is working fine. BTW the dedicated Xperia tech support line is AWESOME, even though they weren't the ones who figured out why i had the problem (and they wouldn't have because it was the routers problem) they knew what they were talking about and are actually from the US!
n4v1n, did WiFi work for you in other networks (with other routers)?
I have the same problem with my phone: only reset of my house router allows the phone to reconnect.
I am not so convinced that it's a problem of the router, because two of Samsung phones (Omnia HD on Symbian and Wave on Bada) connect always without any problem.
does your router have a physical easy connect button? try to use that before connecting even you already have the proper setup on both devices. sometimes somehow that happend to laptop, phone, wifi card. and with a single push solved most of the quirks.
if i remembered correctly, older wifi support only up to 7-1 devices. and my phone seems never connect to anything higher than channel 6.

Wifi problems

I am unable to get Wifi to connect to any network! The device shows me the available network and everything, but it says it's connecting to them and then it just says they're available. It was working fine for 2 weeks on this rom Ultimate-X2.V9 and just stopped yesterday. Its a Kaiser
Any solutions? Suggestions?
if they are not your wifi router networks they could have added mac filtering to keep you out
otherwise maybe their firmware require an update or they just need a restart all the connects handheld devices make often confuse the dhcp in the router
I've got the same problem, but they are my networks, and they've all been restarted.
One network especially doesn't have mac filtering applied, but has SSID hidden, which is fine, but it still won't connect.
I have been dicking about with changing Roms recently, but am back on the stock HTC rom, so wondering if something could've messed up the Wifi abilities.
Thanks,
Hi,
I have the same problem on my kaiser, with every rom I've tried.
On a previous rom, I found a reg key which prevented wifi to connect, and it resolved the problem, but now I can't remember what the key is...
Wifi APs are detected, identification is sent, PPC asks for the wep/wpa key, identification seems to succeed, sometimes I even get the right IP, but nothing happens, and the PPC stops the connection to the AP after a few seconds...
Very annoying
I should add, all routers in use are fully up-to-date with their firmwares, and recently I've been receiving a message saying "Shell32.exe" issue.
I get the option to send the report to M$, however the ironic problem with that is I need the network to use it!
I've just flashed my phone back to the original Orange ROM, so I'll see how that goes now, but when I did manage to connect to my home network, it would connect, allow me to even refresh my IP, but not allow me to access any websites, use any installed applications etc.
same problem
but it happend after i installed moorhunn.
Little better after i uninstalled it but my kaiser still drop the connection in a few seconds and want to turn on the 3g connection instead...
I getting an error message that says"no active programs is started".

HTC one mini 2 wifi problem

Hi i am having a strange problem with my phone connecting to my WiFi at home on my phone. I find it will not stay connected to my router. I put the WPA2 code in and my phone says connected then it forgets the network and asks me for the code again. My phone connects to WiFi at work so i thought it was my router but my computer and Xbox work fine still on-line. It just seem to be a problem between my phone and router. I have tried lots of things from hard resetting my phone to changing the security on my router and resetting it I am now at the point where i am at a loss and have no idea how to resolve my problem. I have updated the software on my phone but still no joy Does anyone out there have the same problem or able to advise
Thanks
Hi,
I can't find anything relevant for you, so I will have your thread moved to your device section. ?

I'm not sure but I read somewhere this is a bug in the htc software. You can fix it by having a wpa code shorter the 6 characters I believe. Or maybe try changing to other wifi security protocol

If your phone connects at work with no problems, than its not the phone. The problem will be between the connection to your router. If changing protocol dint work, you can try open network (No pass, just for testing) if connects then its the security.
You can also check in wi-fi advance settings "wi-fi frequency band" its set to auto.
