Hi,
I just bought a used nexus one with Cyanogen 6.1.1 and 5.08.00.04 radio, and the call volume is too low, barely I can't hear the other side. Is there any tweak that I can make? Should I replace the Rom / Radio / Kernel, or is this a faulty unit?
Thanks.
Try an audio boost kernel or faulty hardware, even though people complain about the boost being too loud....
Install a ROM with the audio boost. Cyanogen or similar.
I already have the Cyanogen 6.1.1 and it don't solve this problem.
Can anyone suggest any 'good' solution? kernel or otherwise to fix this $#@$# 'bug'??
Would really appreciate all the help!

Hello
I got one Nexus One with last oficial update.
When I used the audio cable or the bluetooth the sound is OK, but when I use the phone directly on my ear, the sound is too low... Can anyone help???
cyanogen ROM has the audio boost which makes a world of difference. you really need to just flash a kernel with the audio hack enabled.
But is this a normal problem from Nexus One? Or it´s better to send it to warranty?

Its normal for most of us. I need a ROM/Kernel with the Audio Boost too, but some people say they don't.
I have the same issue since I picked mine up when froyo came out. I deal with it since i don't make many calls. If it is too loud to hear a call I just use speaker phone (maybe adjust the volume and hold it backwards up to my ear even). Bluetooth and speaker phone seem fine. However I am considering loading Cyanogenmod 7 once there is a final build.
You can use the DSP Manager and boost treble, HTC doesn't like bass like nokia

its basically normal. just about all HTC phones come with audio that is too low out of the box. the audio boost hack originally made it so loud that over 50% volume would blow out your ear hole. then they lowered it slightly to make it about perfect.
stock volume will always be low and there's nothing you can do about it without installing the kernel with audio boost.
Many thanks to all!
I will use a cable audio, its the best....
Regards!

This is driving me crazy, I'm not sure if its as a result of the dt beta script or cm itself, all my notifications, ringers and sound coming out of the loud speaker are low, a few restarts fix it but its driving me crazy.. can anyone help...
Noticed it on the official cm and unofficial versions as well

Yes it is the DT script. I hear the older official one works fine, but the newer beta's have the low volume bug.
The consensus that every other restart will have low volume, so if I have to reboot, I just do it again.
Also worth trying an audio boost (AB) kernel. I've moved on from dt a2sd to s2e from the market.
havent messed with this personally
but if its really bugging you this might be able to ease the pain a bit

Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing problems with the volume of my microphone when I'm in a call.
The persons at the other end of the call can only hear me very silent.
The problems are only exists with the standart phone app, when I'm using a third party app (like sipdroid) my volume is fine...
I'm using Cyanogen 7.0.3 on my Nexus One
Is there a fix for this Problem?
With the stock ROM I don't have this problems but I need a ROM with trackball wake because my power button fails.
I can't RMA my Phone to HTC right now, because I'll be not at home in the next three weeks. Therefore I need my mobile phone with me.
I'd use an other ROM which has TB wake support and no microphone issues but at a quick glance through the forums I couldn't find a suiting one.
Thanks for your efforts to help me
hey, i have a similar problem but i noticed that using different kernel affect the microphone. I'm a noob to this so im not entirely sure if kernel is related to microphone.
Well basically im running miui rom 1.5.6 right now and i was using redstar kernel 38.4 and then i upgraded it to redstar kernel 38.5. Then i called my girlfriend and she could barely hear me. Then i reverted back to 38.4 and she hears me now much louder but not the clarity isn't as good.
You using DT a2sd by any chance?
Damn, my phone froze today at work and I had to pull the battery.
Now I can't power it on again due to the not working power button...
Battery trick doesn't work either.
So I guess I have to take the bitter pill and RMA it right now.
Holy sucks! What's the battery trick...just incase.

If people hear you very quiet - look up the mod to disable noise cancellation. If the problem will disappear with noise cancellation disabled - it means your 2nd mic is faulty and needs replacement.

Nope, people hear me well. Its that I cannot hear well. Specially in traffic, I usually tell them that I shall call them back
Any help?
Look up Gingerbread volume control app in Development forum. It can override the system settings and make the volume much louder than the maximum stock, AFAIK.
Thanks, but this app is not working for everyone AFAIK.
Hey, I've been having issues with the sound level from my Nexus One earpiece lately. I'm currently running CM 7.0.3. I was having the issue as well with an older build, can't remember the version number. Did a complete wipe including cache when I upgraded to this build. I have also tried replacing the actual earpiece with one I purchased from eBay, no change. The volume level is so low that I have to have nearly complete silence around me to be able to carry on with a phone call. That or use a headset/speakerphone.
Anyone have any suggestions for what else I can try?
Have you tried changing ROMs to see what it sounds like on other ROMs also you could always try flashing a kernel with an audio boost.
Hi All,
Ive been running Cyanogen Mod for sometime now and its frustrating as the External Speaker volume is low, I go back to stock and its normal.
Ive tried a few apps that ive read in threads, but yet haven't been able to fix this, Does any have any info on how to get this back to normal volume, Music is a little low, but ring tones are very low compared to stock.
Cheers

Latest CM or PA have the low call volume fixed, also using Yank555 kernal with the re-vamped boeffla engine solves any low call issues.
Hi All,
this is my first post on XDA

Volume fix walk-thru
Hi,
I've tried and tried using different custom ROMs on my S 3 GT-I9305, but I still have the same problem.
I'm getting extremely low inbound call volumes - I can't hear the other caller speak. It's especially bad when I try call-recording, which I need for my job. I've tried volume fix apps too, they don't work.
I understand Foxhound has a built-in call recorder for their S4 rom, but that won't install on my phone right?
So I'm left with trying to fix my favourite ROM, LiquidSmooth 2.9.
Can someone please walk me thru getting the right kernal, installing it and any other steps?
Hi,
I'm running the PAC man rom on my I9305 and I had the same issue with sound. I flashed the AGNi kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2339848) and now no more sound issue and some interesting tweaks to improve battery life.
