Hey guys,
I just found a blue foil over the antenna of my 2x. It's inside your device directly under your battery. I just removed it and experienced better connectivity and that the signal is no more jumping that often between 2G and 3G.
Give it a try, maybe it helps you as well.
cheers,
where exactly is ths blue foil? perhaps its better if you can take a photo of it.

Jep, just start on the very left site. That's not the area where the antenna actually is. It's save to remove. It's just a delivery safety thing..

Just wondering, if it just a foil how come it affects reception negatively? I would assume it is there for a reason ?

It looks like the foil which was placed right and left from the usb connector. So I strongly assume that it's a delivery protection or something. Can't imagine LG put something important there what you could easily remove.
Ye was thinking about that one too, removed it now and it does seem like just delivery protection. Especially since it's not "supersticky" like something that should remain there, real easy to take off.
A thin plastic foil will not give any change in performance... Its a protection for the antenna and recommended to leave it there. Any change in signal strength is placebo.

You might be right... but don't forget about capabilities of special foils. Look at anti static foils for example. Any... my signal strength increased measurable. If that's a placebo, than I'm fine with it
Mine is working much better after removing the sticker too.
Thanks for the tip

thats the foil i think.
but not going to remove it untill im sure i dont mess up warrenty
I removed mine and it has nothing on it thats it is to protect the antenna. I will agree with most that it just looks like that blue "anti scratch" foil you get on your phone when you get it back from the repair shop.
So I pulled mine.

Did you notice any diffrence?
I will give it a day or 2 to test it out and see if it really makes any difference considering it all.
Won't that void the warranty and maybe increase the sar level?
I shall try sending an email to LG and ask if they can help with this blue foil issue.

It's meant to be removed.
A. It's the same material as everything else you're meant to remove
B. It can't provide any other functionality, just look at it
C. Serviced manual doesn't include it as a component

Has anyone try to remove the ugly AY&T Logo from Tilt? I want to see if it can just be scraped off without leaving a mark. I am not brave enough to try yet. Thought I would give it a try here.
Thanks.
Sugar cubes. Works wonders. I've used them on an Apache.
Re: Removing AT&T Logo
I've seen cheap skin packages for $3-$5 US for 8925 on E-bay that will cover the AT&T logo.
I too am wondering about this. The thought I had was if the sugar would damage the dark patina on the metal.
anyone do this yet?
as ay&t is not sending me checks to rep there logo I would like it off my phone lol
I'm also interested in this. Let me know if you guys get it off.

Can you explain more?
TIA
Supposedly you can remove the logo by moving a sugar cube back and forth across it. The sugar is supposed to be hard enough to remove it but soft enough to not scratch the metal.

We are talking about the logo that is physically on the top of the Tilt.
I never tried this, so I don't know if it works...
but shouldn't nail polish remover do the job? if not similar chemical products strong enough to wipe the paint but not strong enough to corrode the metal.

Anyone have any sugggestions on how to remove the at&t emblem from the top right corner without marring the finish?
sugar cube or grains. use search.
DO NOT USE SUGAR, you WILL mar the finish.
Use "Goo-Off" or Nail Polish remover. DO NOT LET IT SIT on the surface. Apply a small amount to a Q-tip and rub in the direction of the grain. (top to bottom on a tilt) So it gently and do NOT over soak the Q-Tip. Go over several times lightly. You want to have several light layered rubs instead of a few heavy ones.
That should do it...

Wrong. This will NOT even phase the att logo. As far as I know, there is no way to remove it without ruining the finish under it. My first tilt (i was returning it anyway for an exchange) I even took an exacto knife to the logo and removed part of one letter to find its kinda etched into the finish under it. Until I see a picture of someones that sucessfully removed it (with no other visible damage under it) in a post here, I wont believe its possible to do.
Yep, I tried all kinds of sugar cubes (cane sugar, crystal sugar, rock sugar) and also nail polish, 100% acetone professional studio strength -- didn't do anything.
Anybody have any bright ideas?
I used thermite to remove the logo and it works great.
Just a side note if you leave it on to long it will eat clear through your phone

Next, start to peel off the keyboard to expose all of small screws that is needed to be removed. As shown in Figure 6, unscrew all the screws and lightly remove the display assembly from the slide mechanism and keyboard. For further assistance in prying apart, use safe pry tool and do it slowly and carefully.
Weird that i really just peels of like that, hearing from the OG droid you have to be extra careful and it doesnt mention anything about that so hopefully its just a quick peel of then.... put it on lol?

FWIW the keys themselves are simply stuck on to the back membrane with adhesive tape. So if you just want to replace one or more keys, then just ease them off, and then swap them over. I managed to remove my A key by accident on my XT860, and have just used double sided tape to re-attach it.
Cheers,

Why not use a Drill or something and drill some random holes from the back of the phone all the way to the speaker enclosure. This seems like a pointless thing not to mention that that dust filter is there for a reason. If you wanted better sound there are other things to mess up with (and that requires adding extra holes in the speaker enclosure by taking the phone apart).

Trial and error engineering at its best. Unfortunately with that approach there's more error than success.:silly:
So what you're saying is.... the sim tray tool is making the speaker holes bigger?
Not likely. Not sure how the plastic tool is supposed to make the holes bigger...
Looks like you're just poking at/moving the filter out of the way so you're more susceptible to getting dirt and dust in your phone.
Sounds like a placebo at best...

Hi all,
I just noticed a dark mark behind the phone right beside the NFC logo and it's quite obvious from certain angles.
I don't use the phone extensively - messaging, twitter, instagram, non graphic intensive games.
Anyone know what caused the mark? I suspect its the processor or graphic chip.
Do you think it's a valid reason to head down to the repair centre and is it covered under warranty?
Thanks.

I have a white one also and I can see a sort of "halo" around the NFC from certain angles with certain lights, but nothing worth saying!
EDIT: Now I see, looks like it's about 1"x1" darker spot on the left? Seems rather weird indeed, do you have a protector on this side? You can look at a disassembly video to see if it's close to a processor... Surely is weird!
I can see the square from your pictures and I can say this, back cover is in glass and there is not way that any chip or whatever can do such a thing. Only 2 things can be, 1- the paint of the back cover (which I suppose is not on the glass but is under), 2-Back Plastic protector. I will suggest to take off first the plastic back protector and check if the square still there.
Hi all,
Thanks for your help.
I removed the protector but the mark is still there, so it's on the phone itself.
I'm thinking if the mark got to do with the chip heating up the paint or back panel thus causing the dark mark?

This protector behind is in case you break the glass to not hurt you...and i think it's impossible to heat sufficiently to make a dark mark like that.

The glass has a sticker protector, all Z1 have it in both side.
If you watch this YouTube clip. There is actually a square heatshield for a chip in that region behind the back cover. Maybe that would cause it. I don't know if my eyes tricked me but it looked like his back cover also had that square.
