Hello guys! Some of you may have participated in the beta of Killswitch, our app for tablets and phones with cases.
We need some feedback from people with the Xoom. Could those of you that participated please leave some comments and thoughts on improving the app's functionality?
We have just released a major update that should solve some sensitivity issues and wonder if this has affected Xoom users.
Just downloaded, mainly because my son makes me mad when he doesn't turn the screen off (I have a 10 minute time out set) when he closes the cover.
Maybe this will help - well see.
Ok, so in the first 2 minutes of playing.
When using the light sensor:
I work in a dark room. I have my Xoom open next to me all the time.
But regardless of what I set light sensor sensitivity too, it wants to trigger.
When using acceleration sensor:
I just don't realize that the device is on its face or not when the case is closed.
Light sensor would be the best option for me, if it is possible to set it to when light = 0 turn off (because when the case is closed it should get 0 light in to it). But 0% sensitivity, 100%, 50% they are all about the same.
Usually I don't have a problem with the sensitivity. What I would like is for it to turn back on when I press the volume keys. I did not participate in the Beta but I have bought the app.

Please try increasing the Activation Delay! This may help if you have a less than cooperative sensor...

Im aware of this problem, today's update included a log backend which should help us uncover the cause. Ive seen it both work and not on my own xoom!
I too have seen it work ocasionally on my old Xoom. Until it was destroyed lol */ crying \* but on this new one it has not worked even once.

It works like a charm on my rooted 3G.
You can use the free aLogcat app from the market.
Launch it, run Killswitch and duplicate the error. The go back into aLogcat and pause logging. You can then send the text through the app directly to [email protected] or copy it to a pm with a discriptio of the problem.

Hello, i got you logcat, but it is not verbose enough to show any problems related to the sensors.
Could you please use debug mode in Killswitch and repeat the process please? (Its a new feature i want to test as well!)
Hello? Could you please send a debug logcat?
I sent you one yesterday. Did you receive it?

Right, got it thanks.
I have one little problem, if I have installed kill switch and I'm playing radiotime app and want to turn off screen it will not let the application run on the background, even if I disabled kill switch, I uninstall kill switch and it plays on the background ok. It's this going to happen always or there's some thing that can be fixed.
Thanks.

Hi, could you please tick "Debug mode", then use the free aLogcat from the market.
You can then run your radio app and repeat the error. Then go back into aLogcat and send me the text. Post here or PM me, or send it to [email protected].
Lets see if we cant fix your problem!

Sorry about the delay, I was getting ready to do the logcat, but looks like its working fine now, I didn't bother to unistall and install before, but now that I installed back kill switch its working fine, radio time its working properly in the background.
Thanks for this killer app.

No problem!
As I said, its working perfectly on my own Xoom. Android sure can be pretty obscure sometimes
Im going to add an interesting feature that should improve the apps general usefulness greatly this week, so stay tuned for some updates!
FYI on KILL SWITCH & customer kernels..
If you are changing kernels or updating kernels, there is a small glitch with home switch not working. I have found its caused by Kill Switch. I have to go into Kill switch, disable and re-enable kill Switch for the button to start working..

Does anyone know how to make the lower buttons, back, menu, search, and home buttons not light up when I receive a message our missed call while using the NoLED app?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I don't believe there is that option within the NoLED app. The BLN has to be built into the Kernel I believe.... I'm sure there will soon enough be a supporting Kernel for this as there is much support for the Galaxy series phones and this sort of thing. As I am not a dev I have no idea how easy/hard it would be but I cant wait
The op was trying to turn the lights off not on. As far as I know it just needs to be updated for gingerbread/ns so that the bottom lights don't turn on. You can follow the original app thread here. It looks like the dev won't be working on it til after the holidays.

As in the camera flash? Well if your phone is laying on it, that probably doesn't work too well
Plus that LED is bright. Not sure what it's power requirements are compared to using NoLED.

That's what Back Light Notification (BLN) is and it needs a supporting kernel to be ported over.
Didn't want to start a whole new thread just to ask a question, but for whatever reason, NoLED doesn't work for me. I'm on Android 2.3.1 running stock (not LP or AWD). I've read the FAQ and I believe I have everything set up correctly. I call myself and miss it and I've emailed myself (different accounts) to test it, but I don't get anything on my black screen.

Yes to both. I have the widget set to "on," restarted my phone, and before, made sure all the settings were correct.
Still, nothing shows up after sending myself emails and giving myself calls (didnt' pick up, of course).
Doesn't seem to work; I'm running 2.3.1 with stock launcher.
Just read the FAQ. It's the "No Lock" app that's preventing NoLED from functioning. That's a shame because sometimes when I'm at home, I dislike having to swipe or enter my pattern key to unlock the phone.
NoLED works fine now. Thanks y'all.

bln are built into all of our kernels these days
I've used NoLed since I purchased my phone in Sept with no problem. In fact, the wife and I both use it. Uninstall and reinstall and see if that works. Also, you should add the NoLed widget to your home screen and then tap it, colored dots should appear inside the box. At that point it's activated. If you reboot your phone I believe it does it for you.

NoLED was a great option prior to the popularity of "BackLight Notification" or BLN.
If you have a compatible kernel, I think it's a better way to go. It doesn't differentiate between different "kinds" of messages like NoLED does, but it's cleaner, and doesn't use the LED screen at all, potentially saving battery and protecting your screen from potential burnin/out.

I never could get that app to work right on the Fasc. It used to be the bees knees, till people started realizing that the lights never turn off until the message has been cleared. In other words, the 10 sec, 15, 30 second versions all stay on till the notification is cleared, despite supposedly having a timer. Newer versions of the BLN app have come and gone, yet I have heard nothing positive about them in the Fasc forum.

BLN does not have a timer unless it is set on blink mode, and there are no working kernels with BLN 2.3, which is required for blinking for the Fascinate. The "timer" you are likely referring to is probably for the timeout for the buttons when the screen is on. Since DJ05/DL09, the buttons stay lit as long as the screen is on.
To control the blinking rate, use "blinky" from market
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Blinky 2.3 (download zip from thread, flash in Clockwork) works on the Fascinate. Blinky 2.4 (Market version, no flashing) works to turn BLN on/off, but doesn't actualy blink stuff.
Try sms popup, works like the handcent pop up, but works for the stock messaging app which is what i use

Really? Do you recall the release of BLN? Now it appears the developer has added internal settings. However, the releases in October-November could be downloaded via XDA and came in .zip format with an option in increments of 5-10 seconds up to 30 seconds. Despite the option, the light never turned off until the notification was cleared, even with a supportive kernel, resulting in rapid battery drain in my case. This was a turn off for me and I have not reviewed the product since. Now it appears that the lights blink instead of constantly glowing. I will have to check out the newer version.

I would appreciate independent verification of this.
Music control returns to notification shade after being disabled and after a reboot.
Doesn't happen all of the time, may be related to using ADB
Box in music app remains unchecked and must be checked and unchecked again to make controls disappear again.
Home screen displays momentarily before lock screen.
Multiple reports
No apparent impact but it shouldn't happen.
Happens with WidgetLocker too.
External SD does not mount every time.
Can't be seen, can't be remounted
I think it only happens after a "reboot" not a Power Off/Power On cycle
Only known workaround is full Power Off/On
Not sure if it's widespread so independent verification would be good.
Multiple exchange accounts disabled in LGemail app.
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=986385
Workaround is to use Android Exchange client (see here)
Camera brightness not listening to "auto" brightness, but uses the manual settings.
Independant verification would be good.
Workaround is to use manual brightness setting.
Stock Lockscreen showing all messages, unread or otherwise
Only happens if you use an alternative Messaging app (HandCent, Chomp etc)
Displays total number of messages in stock app
Fix is to remove/lock messaging and mms apps in /system/app/ (see here and here)
This has consequences (nothing major) so read up about it first.
Can anybody verify behaviour with stock messaging app?

Great thread. I hope these listed oddities can be patched up by LG. Is there any way owners can submit bug reports to manufacturers? If any 2x follower can recall, in Engadget's review in ref. to the Gallery app crash (search "Gallery" in the article) that appears to be fixed in the retail units as no user here has listed that as a reoccurring problem.
Or... I suppose we simply have to root this beast.

about the messages on the lockscreen:
it shows unread msgs in stock msg-app. Open stock app and read your msgs, you'll see.
setting Notification off in stock app makes no difference, i tried that right away.
My "fix" was to use goto lockscreen instead.
I suppose one could just freeze the msg-app with titanium, but i haven't tried that myself.

I just got my Optimus 2X from Three ( 3 ) in Sweden. It has two pixels wich are constantly blue and says that it is an incomatible handheld with my sim card. Yay...
I thought it would be nice for both users and developers what to expect from next update to fix or be fixed. I'm gonna give a kick start to known bugs, so that we can be aware of the faults of 4.2. Don't shoot the things you didn't like here since it is nothing to do with this "bug" thread. Here I go..
1. I keep telling myself this should not be a bug since it is so obvious but there is no reason for it to be implemented that way. Which is the hour segment of lock screen time being bold and the other half is normal font.. Maybe there is a reason for this hopefully..
2. Pull down the notification bar from top, when it is down, pull down from the top most again. Notification center will continue going down and out of the screen. It applies for both quick settings and notification center.. Major bug! - 1 to googles test engineers.
Now you can add your own test cases and bugs and maybe we have great devs to sort them out and develop great custom roms..

I can understand the first one but you clearly didn't understand the second. This is a major bug because a layout goes out of screen. They seem to not lock pulling down from the top most of the screen when it is already pulled down.. Result; notification center goes out of the screen..

This is probably a feature Not really a bug..
But on the lock screen .. Long tap the clock quickly.. you will see a big square highlight the unlock button Slide to unlock . This will take you to a STOP WATCH TYPE INTERFACE..
I Was hoping there would be a way in there to change the stupid bold hour number . That is gross to look at ..
Just to try it i Created a 3rd user..From the lock screen then you log into that user account to set it up. When it gets the point it ask for user Name SU Pops up asking to grant permission .. then give a message ..
SuperSU has granted superuser permission :/system/bin/id
tried 3 times .. if you let it set on that screen you will get Supersu isnt responding .. You click ok then it will allow you to continue setting up the account.
The second account set up fine.. Just thought i would try a 3rd and look at directory structure..
Can someone try and see if its just me with the issue. It finally created the account. with a reboot. but its unstable .Thanks Erica
Youtube is borked with stereo (a2dp) bluetooth headsets - sync issues, laggy, scratchy. They have clearly done some changes to bluetooth audio (you can hear the bluetooth headset mute/come alive when there is a moment or two of no sound).
Can't log into gmail with another account in chrome.
I used to log into another account in chrome that I haven't bothered linking. I went to gmail in chrome (not requesting desktop version) and I was already logged into my primary account. It's never done that before. I thought no big deal and signed out. Now gmail continually loops on the address constantly refreshing but the site never actually comes up.
And not a bug, but I'm annoyed Nexus 7 didn't get miracast. Can't imagine the reason for that. And the what's new page isn't clear that it is only nexus 4. http://www.android.com/whatsnew/
Yes it does say "Share what’s on your phone on the big screen." but the rest of the text and the page makes it seem like these are 4.2 features and not exclusive to N4. I'm hoping custom roms will enable miracast.
Also, not a bug but a feature lost, the camera no longer has the funny faces (big nose, small eyes etc). ya I know a dorky feature but I don't see why it was removed. I know the nexus 7 didn't have the camera enabled by default but we have the new camera app so I assume other devices lost those as well.

Maybe I should do a factory restore. I don't want to lose my game save files though, grrrr!
Um....why does changing dpi to 160 in build.prop not flip to tablet mode? I have confirmed it reads that way in build.prop after reboot....
Help...i will have to revert...

Anybody else having issues with Gmail 4.2 not having pinch to zoom? I installed the ROM and did a factory reset. Still no pinch to zoom.
EDIT:
As it turns out, this option is in the settings. User error.

What I told you is true I'm not being a dbag dude! There's no way for tablet UI on 4.2 until a devolver figure it out.

Thanks for the tip, I had a bit of a play. It looks like it's just the digital clock widget, it's probably just a matter of time before more lock screen widgets become available

I'm getting an issue when tethering via Bluetooth. This morning it was working fine, the update came down while I was tethered to my phone, after the install I can pair to my phone but it won't connect.
I've tried deleting the pairing on both, re-pairing, rebooting... Anyone else having a problem? Anyone else doing Bluetooth tethering?
edit: never mind, I worked it out, I had to go in and select that I wanted to use the "Internet Access" profile
Seems like realvnc doesn't like this new update crashes

Hello peeps,
I just bought the white version of the LG 4x HD but realized i forgot 1 issue and thats the lack of a notification led.
Now there is this app floating arround on XDA that lets you use the bottom bar but seeing that is a white led thats not really working for the white version.
This got me thinking and i was wondering if someone was able to make a App that plays your notification sound say every 5 , 10 or 15 min.
This would make it sound like you get a message every 5 , 10 , 15 min (whatever you set it up for) so you may not see your notification led but you will hear a sound letting you know you have a new message.
Im not sure if its possible to make a app like this but i would immagine im not the only one that finds a repeating audio warning usefull.
Sadly this coding thing is way over my head and im only good at thinking up ideas but am not capable of executing them and turning them into a product.
You can use the screen on button as a trigger to stop making the sound for example till the next message come in with screen off.
IF its even possible to trigger a repeating sound warning at a incoming message/warning.
and in a totaly ideal world it would even let you choose which apps should create these audio warnings.
So if anyone would be willing to make a working app like this (if possible) im surely willing to donate a few bucks for the effort and i hope more people are willing to do so.
Maybe this is an alternative.

i tried a boatload of apps but this is the only one that actualy works the wat i want to but its keeping the cpu active (most likely for the countdown) so it drains the battery like a maniak.
maby this is what will make a app like this ipossible as the countdown needs to use the cpu and that might prevent sleep.
