[Q] GT-P1000M Bell mobility - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just want my tab to be able to use voice call feature and wifi. Is this possible with the canadian version of the tab? And if so what rom/firmware is recommended?
Firmware version 2.2
Baseband version P1000MUGJJ7
Kernal version 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1

It is perfectly possible. Follow the advice on the forum and you will be fine. Sorry I cant remember the thread.

Below you'll find a "step by step" tutorial on how to flash your Samsung Galaxy Tab Firmware to the European version ( unbranded firmware ) and therefore enabling the phone calls option ( and 3G data + 850/1900Mhz WCDMA ) that has been purposely stripped out by certain providers, Ex: Bell, At&t, T-Mobile, rogers etc..
What do you need?
Download the following package:
Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/444576369/Samsung_TAB_Euro_Flash_Package.7z
What's in it?
Kies_2.0.0.11011_16_5.exe
Odin3 v1.31
P1000XWJJ4
P1000XXJK5
modem_bell_i9000
Preparation:
A. After downloaded the package and extracted with 7zip Install and then reboot: Kies_2.0.0.11011_16_5.exe (this will install properly drivers x86 or 64 depending on your OS configuration, needed for your Tab and Odin to communicate correctly ).
B. Extract Odin3_v1.31_PITupdate and put the all the files contained in P1000XWJJ4 into Odin3 v1.31 source folder.

}
C. Set you Samsung Tab into "Download mode" ( Hold volume down and power button until the device boot up. You'll see a yellow android sign and some warning text like :do not turn off target) and connect it to your PC with the USB cable.
D. Start Odin3 v1.31.exe and make sure that the com post is yellow highlighted and check off Re-partition.
E. Load the following files as shown in the screenshot below:
F. Hit Start and then relax, hopefully it is going to be ok and in about 2. min and 50 you'll get a green highlight and pass stamp in the same Odin screen which will also reboot the Tab. It will be In Russian, but not to worry. keep reading below.
G. Turn offf the tab and set it to download mode again. Transfer over the Odin folder the P1000XXJK5.tar file re-start Odin, Connect the phone.
H. Leave the "Re-partition" unticked and load into "PDA" the tar file. Hit "Start" and wait again about 2min and 50 sec, you'll get the same green pass and the tab will reboot.
I. This is the final step. now you are going to flash the tab with the right Modem files. Again like Put the Tab into download mode unpack the modem_bell_i9000.zip into Odin folder then start Odin up and select "phone". Load the modem.bin up and hit Start. Wait for the Green pass and you are DONE!!!

no, i myself thought it was a hardware problem...its not
and what goes in trying?
I did the erase entire cp thing now my imei has lots of 0 but still same network issue.

Now you have to restore your IMEI!!!! Without IMEI lot of things wont work at all
as i said, nothing goes in trying. its better than going for repair, paying and waiting
sorry for you mate
baseband maybe?
Are you sure the SIM card is ok ?
I had a SIM card die, I still had access to all the data but the network was unavailable. It did the same in 3 different phones (one of them being a "dumbphone" - Nokia 3410). The network operator replaced the card and the new card worked without a problem ever since.
So, before doing anything drastic, check if the SIM card is still working in another phone, if it's not, then the card is dead and you have to change it, if it works then your phone has problems.
Edit : the girl at the phone store said they have about 2-3 "dead" SIM cards each week, all of them work ok (you can see the phone numbers saved in them) except they cannot connect to the network, so it seems the new SIM cards are more sensitive than the older ones.
What's the reason for causing this?
If u tell, it may help others before doing that wrong step
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
It was actually a SIM card failure! Tested it with a new one and worked! Now someone knows how to change the IMEI back to the original one?
search in the question and answers thread there is atleast one thread about it
one maybe "no sim card inserted"
I did it but i didnt used Hyperterminal .wich was way to complicated for basicaly simple task, I used putty and it worked flawlessly! if needed i can make a simple tutorial using putty!
shall we have to connect the pc and phone with USB cable while this procedure ?
A video availability is appreciated.
all this is made with the phone connected to the pc
you could add it to your OP in case anyone needs it in the future
I though I was finally close to restore my IMEI.
...But: As soon as I change from AP to CP USB Mode, my device only connects for a second and then disconnects. With AP Mode is works like a charm.
Thanks again for the great tutorial.
EDIT: I suspected this to be a problem with Windows XP, but using Ubuntu indicates that if a change to CP USB Mode, the device only briefly appears and then disappears.
Hello guys! Trying to save my girlfriend's phone here...
So the imei write command is not working, showing an error msg, although it shows ok to at command...

Unable to backup my IMEI/NV data

Hi, I just got this I-9305 a week ago and I finally wanted to mess around with it a bit, it's been rooted since day one with no problems but after reading around the stickies a bit it seems like backing up my "IMEI/NV" data, whatever that is, is pretty important before flashing anything on my phone. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915 )
I followed all the steps in that thread to a T but when I get to the part where you add a new port it doesn't seem to see my device or display the correct ports
this is what I see

and after adding that "com1 - serial" port it says "no phone".
Does anyone know a fix for this? I'm willing to provide whatever more info about the phone that would be needed.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah I used it to install some apks.
So your PC can see your phone okay, then try another version of Odin.
Maybe remove your drivers, reboot the PC and then reinstall them
I had this also just unpluged usb from phone and put it back in and it showed up.
So either it's dodgy drivers in which case reinstall or get a better usb lead...

Save the contents of your folder carrier and try. I think it's working on zv4.
Hey guys. I tried this after I flashed my phone using the zv5 tot in another thread on this forum. The phone's sim worked for a short time (a couple hours?? I could browse without wifi but didn't test for calls). It seemed to reset itself and I've tried to use the above process but to no avail. I've noticed that the node.db file keeps changing to rw-r--w-- even after repeated attempts. Not sure if it's only this file that has changed or if a bigger problem exists. Your input would be appreciated!

Used ES file explorer before. Per your advice installed Total Commander. The file stays at rwrr now (thanks!). Phone still not sim unlocked, though
Edit: to be clear, when I first tried this, the node file stayed at rwrr. It was only later after the phone "reset" itself (not sure what else to call it) that it changed to rwrw
Edit 2: wait, spoke too soon. I went to settings and changed the network mode from "global" to "gsm/umts" and the node file went back to rwrw
In order to do a "clean" unlock using the steps above, I reflashed and rerooted my phone

After searching for how to disable OTA updates on my sprint lg g4, BEFORE I implemented your steps, I found that the uicc was locked in system updates, so gsm couldn't be used. After going through the steps above AND also blocking ota with debloater, I get the message "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped" when trying to acces system updates.

I dont know. I'm from Europe.
You can try, but first save the contents of your folder carrier.
I was just curious if it had the radios/antennas/ability to use GSM networks, or if it's just unlocked to CDMA networks.

I use gsm and cdma.

How to UNBRICK HTC desire 626 (When all else fails!!!)

This is made for the AT&T HTC desire 626, But It should work with other similar 'desire' phones,
just download the image for the model you own.
(Note: the buttons for 'download mode' and 'force reboot' should be similar for most models, look it up if needed)
So after spending around 8 hours trying to unbrick this phone, I finally found a working method!
This is a combo of about 6 guides, and some of my own work. so I'll credit who I can remember.
This guide is not meant to be noob friendly, it expects you to have at least some knowledge of android, and flashing.
Anyway, You'll need a few things.
1. Good Quality Micro USB cord
2. HTC sync manager (official link)
3. Stock Rom
(official links) find your model, and carrier.
-----
How to unbrick!
(NOTE, this will DELETE ALL DATA, including the built in storage for music/videos)
Step 1: Enter Download mode
unplug your phone, power off, and boot into Download mode, Hold: [Power]+[Volume Down]

Step 2: run the installer for HTC sync manager. (this will install the drivers we need)
Step 3: uninstall HTC sync manager. (only sync manager, we need to keep the drivers)
Step 4: Pause your anti-virus program, or allow the stock image flashing program.
Yes, I know how shady that sounds, double check the link, it's an official HTC program.
And yes, flashing firmware over USB is NOT something most programs often need to too. it makes sense it's treated as a virus.
If you're really worried, use a spare PC. [works on windows only]
Step 5: Connect to your phone via USB.
Make sure any other android devices are disconnected.
And if possible connect directly to the main USB ports, avoid using an (external) USB hub
Step 6: Start Flashing!
Run the Flashing program, the name starts with:
Code:
RUU_
It may take some time to startup, and you'll need to give it admin rights.
To proceed, you'll just need to keep clicking 'Next',
You'll have to agree to some terms, and eventually you'll see the "upgrade" button, click that to start the process.
It will now start flashing your phone, Your phone may reboot a few times,
and the progress bar will fill up to 100% more than once.
(it flashes each part individually, 'Boot image'. 'system', etc)
The whole process should not take very long, it should be done in well under an hour.
The main program will tell you when it's complete.
The phone will automatically reboot, and the phone will be returned to stock!
Notes:
-This will remove root, or any custom, recovery
-If you plan to sell the phone, please note, this dose not unregister the phone from your google account.
IF you want to sell the phone, re-setup the phone as normal. Then, sign in to your google account, and manually remove it
-This dose NOT re-lock your bootloader.
To re-lock, go back to download mode, and run:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
-I am writing this after only 4 hours of sleep, so expect some grammar errors.
And I don't remember all of the buttons prompts from the flashing prompt. but it's very straight forward.
----
Here are some issues I had when following other guides online, this may help some with similar issues.
---
1. phone stuck at HTC logo screen, can't force power down!
Answer: Hold [power] +[volume up] for 10 seconds, that will reboot the phone
2. I Can't get the software to run. (closes after a few seconds)
Answer: If you're running bit defender, it will block the program, unblock it, then turn off bit defender.
3. I can't get the program to run at all!
Answer: Try re-downloading. if you're on the AT&t 626, then the hash should be: MD5: f4d2bdab11290c367136067a96d3dfaf
4. Program fails to flash (stuck at 0%)
Answer: HTC sync manager seems to interfere with the flashing, uninstall ONLY sync manager!
5. Can't enter download mode
Answer: With your Phone OFF, Hold [Power] + [Volume down] it will take you to a weird screen. that is download mode
6. flashing stuck for more than 10 mins! (progress bar never moves.)
Answer: restart using the same method above for stuck at HTC logo screen, then boot to download mode.

Thank you. By simply uninstalling HTC sync manager on your PC allowed me to update and flash ruu thru adb. No more errors! ?

That's okay, if you can connect your phone to your computer and have a look in the phones storage to see if you can find anything that resembles the file.. I'd expect it to be in cache but you could try and see if you can access it

Are you able to boot your phone up normally though?
I think you might need to reflash the all firmware again otherwise I don't know what to do.. Bear in mind that you'll lose access to OATs if you reflash it :/
