Kill that rom .
Flash to stock Froyo using Odin with pit 512 and repartition checked .

you might wanna try another modem... check out romkitchen.org for a full new rom modded to your liking or check on xda forum for flashable modems (are enough around).
Also you might wanna check your IMEI to make sure it isnt screwed in any way.

Try JP5 , JPP, JPB modems. take time, check each one for atleast 2 days then decide. i prefer JP5. currently checking out JPB.

I'm in the US with an unlocked Captivate, traveling to India in August [Mumbai/Andra/ Kerala]. I would like to carry optimal modems, best if cwm3 Recovery flashable. Links?
I'm using Cyanogen Mod 7.1 stable version. I'm having extreme battery drain, about 8% per hour on standby. I think it is probably due to incorrect modem. Just flashed DDJV5 an hour ago, but it seems problem hasn't gone. Which is the best modem for India?
Also could there be some other reason for this problem. Should I change the kernel?
Hi at all,
after several try , i m actually on a stock gb rom JV1 a bit modded by me.
everything is really nice, GPS ultra fast battery not so bad perf are good.
i had before that tryed a lot of roms, but always get issues with gps not taking signal, or things like that.
i m thinking goin back on froyo, bacause got some annoying bugs (phone lagging as hell when i use orange radio, sometimes after a tel conversation i just cannot open phone screen won't turn on, and some reboot / fc.).
The problem is i m almost happy with this rom, and because it s ginger with 3 recovery, i cannot back up it, or i don t know how.
Could you give me some advices ???
-should i got back to froyo with a CWM working to test/backup all romsuntil find one good.
-should i stay with the little issues i have until official GB rom ?
-or do you have a trick to backup up my GB, test froyo and restore it if not happy ???
Thanks at all for your experiences returns, the gps is really my problem with foryo rom, even with the stock one.
should i stay with the little issues i have until official GB rom
personally i would wait and whilst waiting read the varying GPS faqs and posts and try some of the fixes .

Version 2.3 was released in some countries but later google halted it . . . Is it again available if so is there any way i can get it officially from Kies . . by changing some parameter in kies ?
Its currently available through Kies for Sweden (XEE) and Finland (NEE). If you have your phone rooted you could used "spooffw" to trick Kies into upgrading your phone. Otherwise, I would probably wait until the update is available in your region.
Is the standby life good on gb? Im on froyo n i get only 3.5 days the max i wonder if thats normal 4 u guys.
I used the XXJVK Gingerbread that was released on here, I then went back to 2.2.1 to see if it was available on Kies, but as I was told to use SpoofFW to trick kies.
I didn't get anything for the GB update (Im in the UK), so I then went and flashed MIUI. It's not too bad to be honest, nice and fast, but the only annoyance for me is the headphones don't work with phone calls. Perfect for listening to music though. Oh, the latest MIUI is based on 2.3.4 gingerbread btw, that's why I mentioned it. But because it's very loosely based on CM7, it does have battery drain issues. The stock XXJVK wasn't too bad on battery drain, but you can easily wear it out with heavy use in a few hours (as with any phone really).

Hi guys,
I met the same problem on my GT-I9000, please see the attach configuration:
GT-I9000
Firmware version: 2.2.3
Basedband version: I9000XXJVK
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVK-CL75655
[email protected]#2
Build number: lidroid-sgs-2.3.4
I charged the cellphone in the evening and played for a while, the battery was left 60% and I fell asleep and turned the cellphone into a flight mode.
4 o'clock in the morning, i was woke up by the low battery notification, only 10% left, what is going on?
Thats a known bug! try to flash 2.3.4!
Try Juice defender
My Galaxy S, after having installed 2.3.3, had the same battery problem.
Waiting for 2.3.4 (expected 3. Q 2011) I installed Juice defender 3.5.6 (free version) and now I have a big improvement in battery capacity !
After switching to "fly modus" in the night I have in the morning the same charge as one day before.
Please try and let me know
Thanx franco, but i tried that too, n i cant keep my fone in flight mode at night, coz i get calls all d tym...... If u can , plz tell me abt wat CMW/CMV is? i hav no idea abt it, n dont even know how to get it. reply apprreciated.
PLz HelP!!!

Thanx for ur advice, but i dont know how to do dat. i mean how do i "flash"(wats flash?) odin into it.hod do i get odin n 2.3.4?
This will help
I too had this problem after upgrading to GB...
After searching thoroughly on internet i found that it is a bug in 2.3.3
The solution(temporary) to this problem is that after playing games on ur Galaxy S just turn off and turn on ur device(reboot)..
And do this before sleeping at night.. this will bring back normal usage of ur battery( which is actually better in Gingerbread).
If u don't know much about flashing(like me) just stick to this method till samsung gives an official update. ( i read 2.3.4 is going to be released in this quarter).
hope this solves ur problem(it surely has solved mine)!!!
I also experienced same problem in 2.3.3. Solved now after flashing Ficeto's Jvp rom. you can search for the rom by googling Ficeto's Jvp or darky rom website. Detailed and simple procedure for flashing is also described there.
one thing more i forgot to mention, always flash/ update with 100% battery to avoid battery calibration issue.
Battery draining depend in the kernel too, try semaphore or galaxian then uv it you will be happy with your battery.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Hi all,
owner of an old Galaxy S GT-i9000.
I've installed CyanogenMod 10.1-20130501-nightly-galaxysmtd directly from old standard Samsung installation.
It works fine (Apollo have some crashes but I can wait a stable version)
But there is a problem about modem.bin file and settings.
My offices are partially shielded so with the standard Samsung OS the modem signal go up and down like a yoyo but works (a lot of patience) depending also from position (no openable Windows ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/frown.gif )
With the CyanogenMod (also with stable version and not only with nightly) the line don't exist ...
Not only but if I go along the street the line is off ... I must restart the phone and all works with good performances.
I'm thinking that the modem.bin in CyanogenMod is for a different country of mine.
I'm in Italy and my provider is Wind.
Maybe there is a better (older?) version of modem.bin for Italy & Wind?
So I can install it via Odin in the phone or insert the zip file in internal SD and load it in recovery mode.
Any suggestion is accepted ... I can also testing several versions if it is necessary
Please an help is appreciated ...
Hi...I would suggest you to download getril from the market and check if your ril and baseband versions match...if not you can have some pretty bad problems when it comes to reception.
Also when ril and baseband don't match you can get the, i think it was the jvu ril from the app itself....then flash the jvu modem from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870460
Another thing that could be is, that the 3g reception in your area is a bit weak....try to force 2g networks and check if it is getting better for you

The reception 3g or 2g is weak because the building is "shielded" (many iron and iron gates so it seems a faraday's cage) ...
I'll try to dl the app you suggest me and I try to use the jvu modem version ... the std should be the jw4 ...
thank a lot I'll give you all feedback
help me plzz...
