I'm having a bit of trouble with CWM recovery and my rooted Nook Color. Quick background, I'm running CM7 RC4 on the eMMC with CWM v3.0.1.0 & OC'ed Kernel.
When I boot into CWM, I'm getting a few errors:
Code:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
When I attempt to do a backup, I'll get the following output & error:
Code:
SD Card space free: 13593MB
Backing up boot...
Backing up system...
Backing up data...
Can't mount /data!
Has anyone else run into this before? I'd like to be able to make backups prior to flashing an updated OC kernel.
Thanks in advance.
How did you install CWM?

You can't install from ROM Manager, because it doesn't install the recovery kernel correctly. If thats how you installed, that may be the problem, which you can correct by installing from the flashable zip in this thread...

I actually forget how I ended up installing cwm. It may have been from the CWM SD Image. I'll give that thread a look.
EDIT: Following the instructions in that thread helped. CWM is now working as expected. Thanks again danger-rat

I installed CWR on my nook 1.1 and i booted into it, did a backup to my sd card, and now it wont let me reboot...can anyone help?
There may be a way to fix this, but I tried for hours and scoured the forum but didn't find a way to get out of the loop. I had to go back to Stock BN. That fixed it. Then I rerooted.
Yea I actually ended up doing the same thing... we can close this thread, thanks
There is about 10 threads in the general forum to resolve this. Just FYI. The fix is to use Monster CWR bootable SD card to flash CW-removal.zip and remove CWR off the internal memory. Stick to using the bootable CWR instead.

Yep, try here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922870
Wish I'd seen this the other day. . . .
Or, before removing CWR, try this adb command from CWR:
mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /rom
echo 0 > /rom/devconf/BootCnt
Then reboot..
Ignore any error from mount command, this is just in case rom isn't mounted..

Problems with my clockwork mod.
I was wondering if you could help me out.
I tried to install clockwork mod 3.0.0.5 in froyo and what's happening now is everytime I try to reboot into clockwork recovery it gets stuck.
it's no longer showing the green recovery but the orange one. However it freezes right there, the up and down options dont work. The only way to get it running is by taking the battery out and then turn it back on.
The error message that shows right below the orange clockwork mod says:
E:failed to open /conf/recovery.fstb (No such file or directory)
E:unknown volume for path /cache/recovery/command
E:Cant mount /cache/recovery/command
E:unknown volume for path cache/recovery/log
E:cant mount cache/recovery/log
E:cant open cache/recovery/log
E:unknown colume ofr path /cache/recovery/last_log
E:cant mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:cant open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:unknown volume for path /cache/recovery/command
What can I do?
I flashed CM7 onto my LGO2X successfully then tried to put a Vork OC kernel on it and after installing everything through CWM everytime it reboots it goes straight back to CWM.
I've tried to re-flash CM7 back onto the phone with no success and when I try to wipe the cache and do a factory reset it says
' E: Can't Mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't Open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't Mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't Open /cache/recovery/last_log '
if anyone has any idea what I can do to solve this please help me out thanks

i guess the last resort for you is to go back on stock thru nvflasher..
here is the link to nvflash, go back to stock

Looks like an old version of CWM on an ext4 rom. What version of CWM are you using?

I have the same problem, installed the latest cm_p990_full204.zip and then instaled a neoblaze kernel...worked fine until i restarted the phone!it was stuck at the second lg screen...got the battery out and now it get's into cwm and gives the same errors!
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I'm using Clockworkmod Recovery v5.0.2.0
Please help me!
I don't think it would be this simple but anyways, did you try going to mounts and storage in CWM and mounting /cache?
I did,it says Error mounting /cache!
Ohh nevermind
Did you try this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229407
If this didn't help either then I guess you will have to use nvflash to get back to stock.
Hi,
Every time I enter CWM it says:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I tried putting Cyanogenmod 9 on it but I bricked my phone. Luckily I managed to get it back to 2.3.4.
I am using quite an old version of CWM because I read that some mods don't work on it.
Thanks
If you installed cwm 4 on stock, then the message is normal. Once you install a custom rom, the mesaagws will disappear..
use cwm 5 and above. they are very stable use cwm by squadzone...
Hi all
Ive rooted my phone using the update.zip but i then decided i want to flash custom roms etc. So i flashed CWM flashable zip and when i go into CWM i get these errors:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I dont want to flash a custom for if it goes wrong due to these errors?
Any idea what is wrong with my phone? Ive tried a different sd card and copyied everything across to it....but well the same happened.
Thanks
Vizzy
edit: i can still boot the phone etc, everything works fine except i get these errors on CWM.
if you can browse sdcard through the option of "install zip from sdcard" then everything is ok to flash the rom
Let me guess, you're using 4.x.x.x ? If so, it's normal.
If nothing works flash cwm recovery again thru odin!!

Hi there,
Just wanted to install a custom recovery image for the first time on this device and make a nandroid backup. Well, not everything went as expected
here's what I've done:
-unlocked the bootloader via htcdev.com [worked]
-fastboot erase cache [worked]
-installed TWRP [worked]
in TWRP I wanted to create a Backup and selected everything. However it gave me an error message that /cache couldn't be mounted (or something like that, can't remember exactly, but read on). So I tried it with CWM (again, first I erased cache with fastboot, then installed CWM) Well, these are the messages I get when I try to make a backup:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
then it backs up boot img, recovery, system and data, which works flawlessly. Then, the error messages continue:
No /sdcard/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage. [seems logical, as I don't have an external sdcard]
Backing up cache...
Can't mount /cache!
Is it possible that it can't mount /cache as I erased it via fastboot? Or what could've caused the issue, and how do I resolve it? Thanks in advance.
Doesn't matter, just ignore it
EDIT: To expand on the above, if you've not booted the phone up since flashing the recovery there is no cache to backup
Didn't think the soultion was that simple haha, but thanks

For reference, this bit:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Seems to be present in both CWM or TWRP (never used TWRP personally). It's never affected the backups I've made in the past
