Seriously?! You were entirely unaware of their app store plans and missed the dev site that they setup many months ago? (Ahem, along with a press release in what? November/December?)

Since T-Mobile has UMA/GAN supported phones, and with the Kineto Wireless guys having a UMA/GAN setup that is compatible with Android (and that they demoed on a Vibrant), is there a possibility that it could be ripped from another device and ported to the Vibrant?
I am not exactly very well versed in what would be required, but I would presume that since it is all a software handoff anyway, I don't see why this wouldn't be theoretically possible. Of course a driver is probably necessary for this, but if they were demoing it on a Vibrant, then maybe this is something that is already built into the radio firmware to support?
I would assume that if its an apparently, we'll be able to pull it and make it work, but it depends on the intricacies of the setup...
Edit: it's available for download on tmonews.com, but only works on froyo

I saw an article on tmonews that there will be an OTA for "select new phones" that allows UMA. I have to assume that the Vibrant will be one of those phones.
Now my question is...I'm running a custom ROM, should I switch back to stock to get UMA?
Hopefully one of the devs will be able to capture the .apk after download and integrate it into the new custom ROMs
I'm definitely very interested in this as well! Subscribing to this thread in hopes the apk will be available/extracted soon!
They company that developed this software didn't do it for modder cred, they did it for money. The only way this gets released is if T-mobile pays them for it. Until then don't hold your breath for the apk to get released into the wild.

I'm not expecting it to get released into the wild, I'm expecting it to be sent OTA to all of us with Vibrants. At that point, I imagine that one of the devs might be able to grab it and incorporate it into the custom ROMS.
IANAL, but I doubt it would be illegal, since the only people who would be using it would be the t-mobile customers who were covered under T-Mobile's license...
is there an official date yet ???
Nope, only rumors of mid-october.
Yea mid october hopefully

Agreed. Do people not know how to use the search feature? Or even better, how to look through the forums for something that obviously already exists? Not trying to flame here, but it's just spamming up the forums.
Found this pretty interesting, I think I'd drop our ****ty charter communications for this.
Google seems to know how to relate to consumers if you ask me.

As you've already seen the existing thread I think we all know what's coming next.
Thread closed
As we all know Google officially launched Android 4.2 on Monday the 29th of October, they updated the Android.com Website but there is no ETA for a Android 4.2 Update or Source Release on any of there Sites.
So if there is any you know, post here in this Thread to keep the Forums tidy! :good:
Android 4.2 will be released to AOSP and begin OTA rollout to current devices when the Nexus 4 ships or shortly thereafter.

a Google search could have found your answer Very Quickly.. Guys play nice..
It will come after the Launch of nov 13th... The announcement was 29th not the launch day. GO read the 29th announcement and read when the new phones will be out..
I have to say this forum is getting full of Common knowledge threads and post..
I dont know... a lot of people here just posting that this is thread is going to be closed but
1.) I cant see any other 4.2 Thread
2.) Why are you posting such garbage in this thread? What belongs in this Thread is only Informations about the 4.2 Update
So please!

Thanks to you both for a bit of polite sanity. I think it's great when folks get excited, some may ask obvious, and sometimes slightly pointless questions. But to become the master of the universe, and declare a thread should be shut down, is plain childish.
The only lesson worth learning if you are an ANDROID user is. Buy a NEXUS device. At least then you have a reasonably good chance of getting a timely update. So spare a thought for the folks who don't own a NEXUS device. LG Optimus 2X users (The world's first dual-core phone), are still running Ginger Bread. yikes.
Have fun. Anil

Nexus 7 will get 4.2 between 12-14. And I am sure we will get source of 4.2 on 11th.
Google's Nexus 7 page says the n7 comes with 4.2. Obviously this isn't true and they jumped the gun, but this means it's coming... very soon!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
4.2 will probably hit AOSP next week, before or around the release of the Nexus 4, custom ROMs will appear a day or two after and OTA for the factory image will be release a few weeks later.

To be fair you'll probably find if you order one from Google now it will ship with 4.2 on it, but if you buy one from a shop it obviously won't.

No, if you order it from google it still ships with 4.1.2
Has anyone gotten confirmation on when the 3G model will be released? Also, will it be released in stores or just Play Store?
I've read at many sites that it should be out on 11/13, but those sites also said the end of October a month ago. I also read a T-Mobile internal document that said there will be a 'T-Mobile SIM included' version, but that's going to be available only on Play Store. Another site said it will only be available with an AT&T SIM.
So.....a lot of conflicting information. I hope to pick up one a Sams Club on 11/13, but am not sure if that's going to happen.

He can't, maybe because they're not complete, but definitely because of the SDK agreement. I don't think Google would have a problem approving his apps, and but I think they're waiting to get more content providers on board first before they start *****ing about DRM and things like that.
i know why he can't release them, the sdk is still beta so Google won't let anyone release yet. I can't wait till he does though. I was wondering more so how he hasn't been offered a job at Google yet lol
hopefully this will be just as easy to do with google drive.
