If you have an LG Optimus 2X and have downloaded Tango Video Calls from Apps Market, you will have noticed that you can not use the front facing camera.
Anyone know a fix for this?
Tango Video Calls is similar to Facetime for iPhone.
I have a support ticket open with them and they say they are working on it.
I suggest you open a ticket with them as well. the more people notify them - the higher it will be on their priority list.
For me the front camera works, only the image is upside down.
I'm on CM9 though (Nova HD plus)

It's probably due to the half camera implementation in CM9, it's a hack'n slash solution in lack of proper kernel so it's pretty nice that it even works.

Hey guys,
I was recording some HD videos yesterday/today and I noticed that I have some choppy video recording. Whenever I move the camera, it shakes and lags. I even used the lowest settings and it still does it. I am using the latest build from temasek's CM7. What gives?
I'd like to know this as well as i'm using MIUI 2.4.6 GB and experience the same issue.
For the interim i am using lgCamera (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDMsInJ1YmJlcmJpZ3BlcHBlci5sZ0NhbWVyYSJd there is also a pro edition), with the action setting which removes the 'choppyness' on the playback videos (i.e. looks choppy while recording but fine on playback), and this application has an exposure correction to make the vids less dark. The only issue is that the exposure settings re-set themselves after you hit the record button which means any indoor vids are very dark. Also the sound recoring is very quiet.
Anyone any other ideas?
Well....HD 1080p does this chopping problem. But I if you record with 720p you will get more
Fps.
And its tested that its camera struggle on low light.

If you're using the default CM7 camera, that could be the reason. Try flashing the stock LG camera; to me it makes a noticeable difference.

Yeah, your kinda missing the point. I am aware that 1080p has a lower frame rate, the issue is on any setting used using the miui video camera the frame rate is about 5 unless outdoors. This did not happen when on a stock rom but does now that i'm on a modded rom (MIUI and CM users seem to experience this).

Could you explain how to get the stock camera back on? I'm using LG Optimus 2X P990 and have tried installing the stock APK but to no avail and have read that the stock cam for this phone will not work unless running a stock rom?

Never mind - found out the problem (downloaded file was corrupted but on 2nd download everything was good!). Thanks added!
I own both a O2x and a galaxy r (both tegra 2).
Yesterday i installed the lg camera from playstore om my galaxy R and noticed that i could refocus during video capture by touching the screen. I installed the app on my 2x but it didnt work. I like the camera in cm7, because It focuses before starting the videorecording but I have never found an app that can refocus on my 2x (apart from illusion camera but it cant record HD).
Anyone got it to work? any camera mod och app that can refocus?
Hardware limitations on 2x?
(The galaxy R dont autofocus or touch focus in the stock camera, thats why I wanted to see if 2x could do it too in lgcamera, but it cant?)
Try ucam the manual focus works in full HD

Thank you. when I tried it I just got it to focus at the beginning, couldnt get it to refocus when recording..
gonna see if theres some settings that eanble it.
What I mean is this:
When I record with my Galaxy R and lgcamera I can start recording on my daughters face when shes 40 cm from the phone. It focus on her. If I move the phone and film the window 3 meters away, its out of focus. If I then click the screen it refocuses on the window so its sharp.
On my o2x and lgcamera/ucamera I cant refocus on the window. I have to stop recording and then when I start again, it refocuses..
I tray with many applications but the continuous autofocus doesn't work... i thinks that's for the hardware of the camara on ours LGO2X.
(sorry for my english, i'm from Chile)

Hello people.
A friend in another forum wanted some info about the p880 wether to buy it or not and wanted me to imfom him about the weaknesses of the 4X.
One thing in my opinion : The CAMERA APP.
After exchanging pms he recommended me some other app for me to test in case there is an improvement.I tested the LG camera pro and these are my observations
1) The lighting quality is equivalent to the modded camera app v5, since i had the tweak installed i didnt see any improvement nor drawback.
2) This app has many options to choose from such as audio and video bitrate quality.
3) Most importantly it has an option in both photo and video capture to set the autofocus to your need.To mention some of that setting it includes auto , infinity m macro , fixed and others which seem to make the difference at least in my point of view.
There is nothing to lose and test it for yourself and see the results. No root required.

This a completely different app. The LG Camera Pro was developed for the LG G2X/Optimus 2X. It's a great camera app, although i do like the O4X modded stock camera app. AS far as changing the audioand video bitrate, you can also do that with the O4X's stock camera. Although, i believe you can only do it through the hidden menu. 3845#*880#
So does it work on the 4x?

The main feature i use it for is for the fixed autofocus option.
Quality is horrible, it's mad grainy

+1. Hence why i prefer the O4X's stock camera app.
yes at dark places the lg app makes better pics, today i see bad quality too... really grainy
I too agree that the stock camera is better.I use this only to record video with autofocus disable .

Anyone experiencing issues with Snapchat not recording the full legnth on AOSP Roms? I Can only get about 2-3 seconds worth when recording when usually it should be 10 seconds. If you don't have Snapchat, download for free on PS and test and confirm. It is no biggie, but just want to know it is just me..
Yep. Getting the same issue. I found that it allows recording in very low lighting but if you try to record in average to high lighting environments it bugs out. No idea what's causing it.

Yeah I noticed that as I recorded in the dark and it was fine.. you think you could edit the directory files to change settings? I am sure there's a way. Not a main issue, just the issue with CM10 roms camera app. I find the quality isn't as good, but then now that I am on a Samsung Rom its freaking laggy even with Yanks kernel.. I can never WIN haha
Yea I don't know, it may be fixed in a future snapchat update.
Camera JB+
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.moblynx.camerajbplus
After installing JB, video recording of LG Camera started producing videos with distorted images because of over compressing even with full HD.
I've recently found this application which is an advanced version of Google JB Stock Camera application and it works without any problems with 4X and produces better quality videos (the file size is doubled but the videos look much better.)
I recommend this application to every 4X user.

LG Camera is better but has a serious flaw in video recording. It uses a low video bitrate so videos look distorted.
This application uses a higher bitrate and recorded videos look much better than LG Camera. The cost of this is doubled file size.

I've been using LG camera pro for some time now and it works very well. No more focus issues for me at least.
It's missing a few functions like panorama shots and HDR, though filming is fine (i can set up bitrate to 100Mbits?).
If there's enough light. But I've got to say, this camera is much worse compared to One X. Esspecially in low light. Unless i'm missing something in settings, i always get grainy footage, while x ones is smooth and clear.
This camera apk has beter bitrate but only 22fps/sec

Thanks. I never fail to be amazed by how many people on here have bought devices worth hundreds of dollars, yet constantly refuse to spend a couple of dollars on an application to make it work better.
It's like buying a $2000 PC and refusing to purchase any software to run on it, or buying a $50k car and refusing to buy petrol.
I have tested this app in zaiben rom and it works. Videos are brighter and better in temrs of quality. The only bad thing is that the files are .3gp, like videos recorded in old phones.

Here are two samples I recorded with LG Stock Camera and Camera JB+.
LG Camera: https://www.box.com/s/61tn7rdjy5ut2x0z3uap
Camera JB+: https://www.box.com/s/9i9s8nxmpy7pivd9h229
Please view them on your PC to see the difference. Pay attention to the lower half of the picture.
I have had problems with 3rd party camera apps in CM10.1 such as ProCapture or Camera 360. Lots of nice options, but when taking a flash picture, it focuses, then takes several seconds then takes a shot almost by surprise. Can you confirm this app does not suffer from this problem?

3gp is just a container like mkv. The two applications both use the same h264 codec for video.

The color rendition is also completely different. Do you have a sample with a more varied background so one can compare other colors and objects?

It captures photos with flash instantly on stock LG ROM and it has the cleanest user interface and options when compared to the applications you've listed.
Since the application does not have a trial version, you can use Google search to find the apk to try on CM 10.1.

You can't just rename one extension into another - even though those extensions are different in many ways. My opinion would be to use another camera which saves to avi or mkv files
I made more tests with flash and noticed that it lags when you touch the picture to change the auto focus point and then click the capture button.
It takes pictures instantly with flash if you just click the capture button without changing the focus point.
