[Q] Samsung sources - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there
Is there a leak about the date of public release of samsung's sources ?
I'vers put jvk and the great juwe rom, and the only thing left to get a perfect phone id supercurio's voodoo Sound improvement...
Btw, i'd wish to tell everyone, and specially those like me who aren't flash addict ;-) ( thx to them, they're helpfull for the "basic user") that the juwe's rom 3.1 id really stable and smooth, and his b&w theme is just wonderfull.
Sorry for my poor english...

I doubt if there will be a source leak of the released version.
Et je pense que tu parles bien l'anglais

My current configuration has 10,000 points in quadrant.
But it'll cost you $100
Why ? Cuz #stupidity-costs
Quadrant benchmark does not says "real" scores...
Try things instead of relying on benchmarks.
A good start would be to run a recent rom (android 2.2.1 like JS5), something light if you want speed (like essential rom or doc kitchen if you want more stuff in it). About kernels some of them support OC/UV (like hardcore kernel) also ONE nand kernel are very smooth (but can be problematic if you plan to get thousands of app...).
So if you want real speed I would say Essential rom + trasig kernel (one nand).
If you want something fast and useful, go for doc kitchen rom and K13C kernel or laststufo super optimized.
Note:
Before flashing your final rom, make a clean flash with repartition using odin.
The best configuration is the one that you like best and works the best for what you want to do.
For me, that's either Doc's ROM with hardcore kernel or CM7 if I feel like it.
Thread reported, this is not dev, pointless discussion.
There is no BEST ROM

this is not a post for android development!!
quadrant doesn't mean anything deinstall it!!! if it is running smooth be happy if it lags -> ext 4 lagfix
best config for me cm7
cm7 ftw
samsung galaxy s cm7
archos a101 urukdroid
desire hd stock 2.2.1 :-(
But CM7 for Galaxy S is beta and not stable?

so what works super smooth would never go back i can live with those small bucks
why do you need a high quadrant? if it is just for your friends as a "contest" u could use some ext2 loops but it will just fake your results

archos a101 urukdroid

What rom to pick? (noob alert)

Hi,
My brother would like to use a custom rom. But he isn't technicsl at all, so i'm gonna help him with flashing. But i see too many custom roms available for the galaxy s.
Now i would like to know what custom rom you guys recommend us? I prefer a VERY stable rom which i can flash as one package using odin.
My brother currently is running on official froyo jpy.
Thx for your help ^^

for a very stable custom ROM i suggest you head over to www.romkitchen.org
make your own ROM to your own liking,
all you will need to do prior to this is get 2e / CWM recovery, either through flashing a kernel / CF-Root through ODIN, or apply:update.zip through recovery
EDIT: romkitchen seems to be under maintenance try http://romkitchen.org/m/ instead
Agree rom kitchen but not Gingerbread as its not ready yet .
Stable for me is .
XWJS8 rom with Hardcore kernel .
jje
I would suggest trying the insanity ROM. Very easy to install, quick, and stable.
Have to agree with JS8 + Hardcore kernel built by RomKitchen (see my sig).
I have tried almost every rom out there (including CM7, MIUI, JVB, etc) - they are all quite wonderful and each have their own pros and cons, but since I use my phone a lot (be it work or entertainment), I just need a ROM that has all the necessities (besides the obvious stability, performance, battery life etc) for me like Voodoo Sound, BLN, working 3D, working Navigation app and so on.
try juwi's rom..
it based om gingerbread 2.3.3 ..
perfect..

+1 soooo smooth and amazing battery
If you are just new and not too technical then docs kitchen is best because the instructions are easy to follow and its the simplest. also check simply honey, good, ready instal l and get you up and running well

Rom kitchen is the most stable Froyo ROM you can get. GB roms are currently unstable (including the stock GB rom as they've been recalled pending bugfixes)
darky's rom amazing

Darky's ROM & Juwe's ROM v4.1 are quite good.

+1, haven't run into any show stopping bugs yet.
I have also used GoaTrip v1.7 found it very good but issues were BT not working and many times found lag in the system.
Currently on Juwe's v4.1 not such issue's. Works really well and smooth.

I tried every single ROM available in the Development section. Decided to stick with the DOC's ROM. It is the most stable, flexible and versatile.
JS8 + Hardcore Kernel
It has all the necessities including standard features + call recording. Battery life is very good. Works with almost any themes and supports most of the add ons. No FCs. Before, i used to change ROMs everyday which took so much of my time. I think, JS8 is the most stable and efficient ROM at the moment. I would like to try GB, but it is still unstable and lacks many features that I need in my everyday life.
Thanks.
After a bit of help from azzledazzle I went for Darkys rom well fast and stable, being new to Sammy's I had a bit of trouble at first especially when I just come from HTC s .
These phones rock especially with a new rom & kernnel

Yeah, I can recommend this one too, running Juwe's 4.1 rom in my sgs and it's very fast and reliable!

Try Darky's ROM 9.5 if you want a highly stable, clean and fast Froyo 2.2.1 ROM.
However if you want a Gingerbread 2.3.3 based ROM then you should try Darky's Gingerbread Edition Release Candidate 5 Build 3 over here:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...darky-v10-rc5-3-captivate-users-welcome.2420/
Although I must warn you, you need to be more experienced and be able to solve your own problems if you are trying out the rc version of darkys rom if you overcome any, however many have reported it is highly stable and ready for daily use.
+1 for Juwe's ROM I think its wonderful but sadly it lacks good Hebrew support so I'm currently using PilotX which is also good.
You can always try this flashing guide.
Froyo i suggest darkys rom 9.5
Gingerbread i suggest simplyhoney 3.1.... the best roms... easy flashing steps...

Chrack's V4
Best rom out there with there with TW and Samsung Apps.
Hope that helps!
I'm in stunner, for me the best but haven't spen. The best with spen its kingdroid 1.6 which its coming with the new s3 tw
Enviat des del meu GT-N7000
I've been trying some roms Midnote, criskelo, ICS Stunner and Kingdroid!
And my favorite is definitely Kingdroid, I still have my S pen apps!!! And everything is smooth. I've been for a week now on kingdroid and no problems since.
I've been on 1.5 since last night and very stable haven't had any FC yet (just like the previous versions), I am going to skip 1.6 since I use Apex launcher!!

[Q] Rom for my ACE

Hi guys...
Right now I have my Ace with 2.3.5 Stock ROM but I find out today that I can download 2.5.6 from SAMMOBILE.
I don´t like custom roms with apps running, using battery a lot, stuff like that. Is for that reason that I like stock ROM.
So there is any good rom, an custom one, based on a stock one ? I want to have a recent one, like an Ice Cream version or something like that...
Cheers

your kinda confusing dude
what do you really want? a custom rom or a stock rom
i use stocklite v8 wich is stock-based and works fine on my device
I think you have a misconception about "Custom Roms". Usually custom roms are more lightweight and optimized to run smoother.
Also, there are no "stock ice cream sandwich" since we never got that far.
I'd suggest you to check out the CM9 or CM10.1 roms that are available if you want something other than gingerbread.
First of all, there is no 2.5.6 for ace. The latest, officially is 2.3.6 .
If you want a custom ROM, take a look at CM10.1 by ericas it by Wayland.
CM9 is discontinued.
You could try CM7 too

Sorry for mistakes.. I want an custom ROM, based on a stock ROM, the newest possible... I know that for Ace the max version is 2.3.6 but I want a newer version adapted to be able to run on Ace..
Sorry for my rusty English...
So, what are the suggestions ? I want a ROM similar to a Stock one with no extras like "special locking" and so one...
I'm updating my Ace to 2.3.6 right now...
Cheers

Hi AnonFreitas!
Before trying a new rom you should always do a nandroid backup from the recovery, by any chance. So, you could return to your previous rom, BTW you don´t need Odin for that.
Good luck.

^ TRUE STORY
flash ROM
translation: you can install a custom ROM, but make sure that the benefits outweigh losses battery ( 2.3.6 from samfirmware is acceptable)
I already installed that rom and looks amazing.. one more thing, how can i change the boot and shutdown animations to the correct ones for ace ?
Cheers
How could I change boot and shutdown animations to the correct ones for ACE ?
Hi, I believe that if you want a SII rom you have spacecaker rom (he has more recent roms). If you want a smooth, clean updated rom based on stock you have M'irage rom by MatZ69 (see my signature). That's my opinion.
