CityID wont install on Thunderbolt - Thunderbolt Themes and Apps

Im running the perfect storm 1.2 rom and I cant seem to install the cityid.apk file. Ive done everything from copying it from my sd card to my system/apps folder using root explorer to changeing the permissions. It just wont install. Says application not installed. How do I get cityid to install?

You can try city caller id, google it

it worked you have to use the cityid from the leaked ruu. system dump.

Try this one. It's the old version.....and you don't have to pay monthly for it.

Google Maps 3.3.1 update.zip (use this if you are getting signing errors)

Here's an update.zip for those having difficulty installing Maps from the Android Market. Details about the update are in the other thread. This updater should install cleanly over the old version (it did for me). If you have issues with FC, try uninstalling the previous version and possibly clearing out the dalvik cache.
Note: Those who are more comfortable with adb can simply extract the apk from the zip file and manually push it into the /system/app folder.

Was getting the signing errors. This worked great, thanks!
Does it support navigation outside us?
I uploaded the APK to my site if anyone needs it...

login failure on latitude
If you have AOSP_ADP_1.6 here is what I had to do:
I had to go to the /expstick/vsapps folder on the ext partition and delete the (mine was called) GoogleMaps.apk there then goto recovery and update the Maps_3.3.0_update.zip file I downloaded from the apps forum to get Maps 3.3.0 to work...

Yes, works! Including Latitude. Regretted removing the previous Maps but now that it all works again I'm happy
Many thanks.
I just did it as the update.zip and it worked like a charm.
I did delete all associated data and remove the previous version of maps before hand though.
I then went into the market and installed over it in there which it did straight away so that I will be notified of any future updates and hopefully be able to install them.

No. This copy is not hacked, it is the original file (you can check the posted md5 against other sources if you like).
How do i apply the update.zip?
I also tried the .apk
didnt work...
/expstick/vsapps folder on the ext partition

Same way you would use any other update.zip: put it at the root directory of your sdcard and reboot into recovery. The apk file has to be pushed into the system app folder to work.
Decided not to say what I had to say - edited to remove it.
Unable to update using any of methotd mentioned here...
I have ADP1 with 1.6 ROM and I am still unable to update Maps. I have removed the previous Maps (3.2. "hacked" to allow European navigation), now I have Maps 3.1.2 installed (I don't know how to uninstall these, there is no option to do so in Application manager).
1) Using the Market results in "INstallation error: Package file was not signed correctly."
2) Using the update.zip provided here results in "Aborting Install" when the yellow bar reaches the middle.
3) Trying to install Maps.apk provided in this thread results in "Application not installed: Maps could not be installed on this phone"

Sounds like your 1.6 is not based on ADP (not using the test keys). This updater is for folks with "rooted" phones only (test keys as opposed to release keys).
BTW in order to uninstall an application contained within the /system/app folder, you have to remount and remove it manually. Application manager cannot do that for you.

My Build number is "dream_devphone-userdebug 1.6 DRC83 14721 test-keys". AFAIK, I downloaded this from the official ADP1 firmware page.
I removed Maps.apk file from /system/app/ folder but still the same problem persists, as described above.
Success!
Update: After I did "pm uninstall com.google.android.apps.maps", I was able to install latest maps from the Market.
Edit: ahh glad it got sorted out.
Was using stock CM 4.2.7.1 on mytouch3g and had nothing but issues trying to upgrade but thanks to this it did the trick, thank you for posting it.
Just realized 3.3.1 just got released, the 3.3.0 file allowed me to upgrade without getting any errors.
cant you just delete is using adb then reinstall it from the market?

[Q] help! accidently deleted some system files. cant download market apps

have a g1 running 1.6 dmd64
So I rooted my new g1 through androot method, tried to do some stuff to get a rom, but it said I wasnt fully rooted.. and this is over a month or so time so there were reboots throughout the process, so I tried installing busybox, it said I didnt have enough space in my /system/ folder.. so I read online that its okay to delete some files in /system/apps so I delted the files com.amazon.mp3.apk, im.apk,
improvider -1.apk, gtalkservice.apk, im.odex, improvider.apk, and talk.apk
so installing apps from the market worked for a while. then I rebooted yesterday and whenever I tried to download it got stuck at starting download. at that time google talk and im werent showing up under my apps list. so I tried putting those files back in the system/apps folder, reboot, stilll doesnt work. now I do a wipe of the phone through recovery mode and i'm still have the same problem.. except I have all the default google apps except those that I uninstalled, cant download any others, and cant get any off my sd card because I need a file manager from the market in order to do that.
so is there any way to fix this or am I screwed..? please help!

GtalkService is an iffy one. If you delete GTalkService and GTalk, downloads WILL get stuck at Starting Download. You're gonna have to find this APK again, probably within a GAPPS package, and re-install it to get downloads to work again.
thanks. I just flashed back to 1.6 that I found online

[Q] New Market in 1.1 Stock?

Is there any possibility to get the new market (2.2.11 or 2.2.7) to work with the B&N Stock 1.1 image (rooted with gapps already)?
greetz,
fattymcdirty
Just need to get the apk and install over the included market. There was a thread with it and the old one in a thread not to long ago
Sent from my MB300 using Tapatalk
actually this doesn't work.. i took the 2.2.7 market apk and pushed it to /system/app/ - then rebooted. after that, market opens for 1sec and then just closes back to the homescreen. same with 2.2.11 - any other suggestions?

The APK should be "Vending.apk". Use Root Explorer or ADB to remount system as Read/Writable, then rename your old Vending.apk to "Vending.old" or something (just incase you want to go back). Copy the new market "Vending.apk" to /system/app. IMPORTANT: Change the permissions of the Vending.apk to match the other APKs in the directory. Reboot.
If after a reboot you are having some problems try clearing the Market's cache.
EDIT: I'm running 2.2.7. Haven't tried 2.2.11 since this is working perfectly fine for me on nootered BN 1.1.0.
could you upload the market version 2.2.7 you are running at the moment?
then i'm gonna give it another try..
hmmmmmmmmmmmm ....... :/
What is the difference between the different versions of the android market?
question now to anyone: has anyone the market 2.2.7 working on the nook with rooted stock 1.1? if so: could u please upload your vending.apk???
My market updated by itself yesterday to the newest one.
V 1.1 stock
And it works much better than the old one

On my froyo SD card install, i cannot get this method to work. I have replaced the APK there with the newest one (2.3.2 actually), but it makes no difference; the system still sees it as 2.2.11, and trying to do an "install" doesn't work either.. hmm
any update on this? can we get a newer market on rooted 1.1?

[Q] Manualnooter 4.5 App problem

I've got my nook color rooted with ManualNooter 4.5.18 but I'm not sure where to put the apk files. Do they go on the SD card and if so in which folder or just on the card. I also need to know how I then install or access them. Thanks
I just place the APKs in a folder called backup apps on the SC card, I don't think it matters much.
For some apps I did have to copy the APK to internal in the Nook, I just used a folder in the my files folder.
The important thing is that you can find the files once they are copied.
I use ES File Explorer to navigate to my APKs and install them. It's free from the market. As for where to put any APKs that you want to load manually, anywhere that makes sense to you should be fine. I have a folder on the SD card called "downloads" that I stick everything into.
When I use that program it says install blocked, and my phone is set to block installation. Any way around this?

I have the button in nookColor Tools checked. Is there another??

[Q] New Android Market crashing, unable to install old one

Hi Everyone,
Looking for help for an issue, I installed the new android market and was messing around with Titanium Backup (forgot to backup the app, dumb me!) anyway I tried to uninstall the new market to go back to the old one but when I did this the market app is gone from the manage apps area. My phone is a N1, running 2.3.4 and rooted, this what I have tried:
- Install the old market manually from a downloaded vending.apk, not working crashes to .com.android.vending every time
- After this I went to look in the /system/app folder for vending.apk and the app is not there, neither I am unable to copy the app using Droid Explorer or Root explorer, it says it is coping the app but is not there
- Re-install gingerbread update again to see if it gets the app back, did not work, still not in system/app folder
Does anyone know why I am unable to copy the vending.apk to the system/app folder? the phone is rooted but still can-t
Thanks!
If you're having problems with root permissions, try using ROM Manager to fix permissions. Another possibility could be busybox, so I recommend installing the version with Titanium backup (under the Problems? section of the menu).
Updating the market can be tricky, but I always find wiping data from Google Services Framework and (use app manager) Market (easier to use Titanium), and rebooting helps. Make sure you reboot before trying to use the Market...
I didn-t know about the Fix Permissions feature of ROM manager, I tried it and it work, I can now place the file on the system/app folder.
Thanks a lot!
