[Q] Japanese Language Support? - LG Optimus 2x

Hello. I wanted to know if the Unlocked LG P990 phone has native Japanese OS language support? I live in Japan and thus it is rather essential, though in terms of text input there are keyboard download options.
I bought the unlocked Galaxy S i9000 phone last year and it only had English, Chinese, and Korean. I concluded that Japanese would be impossible unless the phone was released domestically, however I bought the Nexus S and now the Xperia Play, and both have all OS supported languages available for selection. I am not sure if this is due to both having Gingerbread however. It is that fear that makes me ask this, for the 2X is still running Froyo.
Thus, if anyone could help me out here I would greatly appreciate it.
Edit: I have just learned there is an application called "MoreLocale 2". Perhaps this would work even if the Optimus 2X doesn't support Japanese.

HTC Kaiser Availability in Hong Kong....

Anyone have any idea when HTC TyTN II possibly be released in Hong Kong? What could be the price?
i am in hongkong and i got my online devicewire.com in uk for UK437.5 shipped DHL to me in 3 days. i have no compliant on their service and price so far. the kaiser is the best wm phone i have ever had, and i have been waiting eagerly for it for so long.
I checked on expansys Hong Kong, they are selling it for HK$6280. So getting from device wire plus freight charges makes it a much much expensive phone.
Is there any feedback when HTC will start selling the HTC TyTN II in Hong Kong?
Should be released this week
Should be released later this week according to both HTC and Expansys HK, with the latter saying 13 Sep.
more money = playing with the phone now, less price = still no phone to play with + painful wait.
so i chose to pay more.
Kilowong,
I am assuming you use some kind of Chinese application like CE-star. My previous experience on cooked WWE WM6 with CE-star was that it wasn't too stable. Could you share with us whether the Kaiser's English OS with CE-Star or others are stable enough? Thanks.
Peter
i use monster chinese v5.3 build 050414 for view chinese characters, Monster SIP v5.2 build 060315. i installed handwriting chinese simplified and traditional for writing chinese.
i have zero problem with it. these softwares were from my old WM5 O2 flame and they work seamlessly with WM6.
i disabled all the other input methods eg. the keyboard, transcriber and ... in the registry and just left with the monster sip. everything is working very well so far.
i think MS has made great improvements in terms of stability and compatibility in WM6 unlike Vista.
Thanks for the fast reply! Really appreciate that.
Monster Chinese..... but where?

Big Fat Edit:
I have been busy trying to install the latest CE-Star V2.8R3A and Monster Chinese V6 which both promised to work with WM6.
So far CE-Star seems to be working fine (Using Simplified Chinese and Pinyin + handwriting input.
I will be testing Monster Chinese 6 soon too but I expect it will work like the latest CE-Star.
CE-Star seems to be working fine with the hardware keyboard.
No idea yet about Monster Chinese V6.
Although the fonts do not look very nice I'm working on replacing them with Windows Vista Simplified Chinese fonts and those look a lot better.
Anyone bought his unit from HK stores..except expansys?

I want to give my T-mobile USA HD7 to my Chinese cousin BUT...

I have a HD7 lying around and my cousin needs a new phone. I offered to give my HD7, but, unfortunately, WP7 does not support the Chinese language.
I was wondering if it would be possible to flash a Chinese rom on a T-mobile HD7? He won't be using it for texting or inputting anything. It's just that the basic phone menus should be in Chinese for him to understand.
If it doesn't work, I will have offer him my HD2 Android since it supports Chinese, and I will have to use the HD7 (which isn't bad but I prefer Android).
Try flashing a rom using goldcard method?

I don't believe there is a Chinese version of WP7 at all. Microsoft itself is targeting 'Mango' release to have Chinese support.
Of course, the phone should still be able to display Chinese characters, you just don't have Chinese menus and type in Chinese.
BTW, the latest report is that even though Mango will add a lot of new language support, it doesn't expand the existing handset's language support. So, your HD7 will still be English only even after Mango update. You will have to buy new models to get those extra languages.
There is a chinese ROM somewhere because when i got my HD7 it was completely in chinese, no chinese input but it was completely localized. Still you'll have to use the goldcard method to flash it.
Thanks for your help. Since there's no Chinese ROM readily available, I will try to get another HD2 from craigslist.

[Q] Stock roms question

Hello everyone,
I have tried searching the Note forums section and checking out Sammobile's site but neither answered the question (that I could find).
I have my Note and it works great but the one I have does not offer support for asian languages (specifically Japanese input). I know there are apps I can get to input Japanese but I was hoping to get more native support in Swype. There is a huge long list of stock roms available but I am unable to find out which ones support Japanese as a language. Does anyone know if one does, or do none of them have it? If multiple ones do then maybe someone could recommend the best choice to me.
Thanks very much
-Xisdibik
I am guessing with 105+ views and no replies that either Japanese input natively is not that big of an importance for note users or no one has actually dug deep enough to check on their own notes. I am still looking for the information so if anyone does know that would be extremely helpful.
I did some research and stumbled upon an app called Japanese IME Kaede IME V3. I know you were looking for native input support but you could use this as a replacement for the time being.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything regarding native japanese input for the Note.

Hello dears,
I write here for the first time in LG 4X forum and I don't want people those who already bought this device to misunderstand me please
the device is really equipped with the latest and fastest hardware at factories,
But..
LG as company is not new, it was (Gold Star) company and replaced the complete ID of the cheap company with Gold Star with LG as new brand.
and the new department decides to get the latest in the market and hit it with the newest electronic weapons as your 4X
I got a past trying with LG devices, with P990 and P999 (G2X) it was really perfect as hardware but as software, it is still with GB v2.3.5 as the final stock ROM from LG, start from v2.2
I don't why LG can't support her devices to the latest software at google android !!!
So the point that I want to reach here is:
Don't expect LG to support your device to the latest ROMs of android, it will stop at 4.1.1 or 4.2 and stop there then you will see the support from MIUI or CM team, but not LG and will face ton's of change log's and (what working) (what is not)
LG is good for short month's of usage but not for long time.
Hope LG support department read this thread and try to support the software teams in the future.
hope you got what I means
Regards

lol, well said!
You are very optimistic thinking that reached 4.1 1

I disagree. It looks to me that LG won't even update our 4x to jelly bean.
Lg are bunch of noobs.
To lg - if you are planning to fight with the likes of Samsung/HTC - offer same type of service. Like Unlock tool for the bootloader. Or unlocked boot loader from factory. At least that way we can make our own way into future updates...
I hate myself for buying a lg! Wasn't even aware of locked boot loader. Next time I will sniff around1000 times before deciding to buy a lg.
How many updates to the firmware has there been since the phone was released? And where are the fix lists?

there are 10a to 10f firmware and i think the update only to solve the problem and i think there will be no update because they think they do a good job...... if they reliaze it!!

Fixes are fine by my book, ICS is already a very good platform to use. Sure, JB brings more improvements but it is game changing compared to GB to ICS.
Can you show me the fix list? I've searched a lot on google but no one seems to have it..
Perhaps we can hope that lg will upgrade the 4x hd directly to Key Lime, if the rumors about a sonn-to-come Optimus Nexus are true...

1. LG Optimus Nexus is not a rumor, but true
2. Yeah, maybe they're working about something (i'm f*ckin optimistic)
Although, LG's software support is crap, i'd still choose their Hardware over HTC's. And, just being chose by Google as the manufacturer for their new flagship device...LG will hopefully get more love by devs. The Optimus 4x HD is a true beast, it's a shame that LG won't unleash its true capabilities. I've been contemplating in whether to get an O4x HD (price is soooo cheap) or just wait for the LG Nexus G (which is most likely what im guna do). Either way, my next phone will be an LG. For some reason, i've becomed very bored with Samsungs, especially with my S3.
LG is going to make a conference on 24-25 oct, hope we'll get some infos about updates

LG need to much time, they will update.

Chinese characters not needed or wanted.

I have recently purchased a Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus. I did not understand how intertwined the Chinese language would be on this device. I knew some apps would be in Chinese and that I could either uninstall or disable them. However I was unaware that Chinese would be incorporated throughout the system despite my selection of English as a setup language. I am sorry that I cannot read Chinese (I wish I could!). I realize the tablet is made in China but so was my last phone (Huawei) and no Chinese on it. What do I have to do to translate this on the pad? If it has to be rooted then it's going back to the company with a long note.
Unlock, then install Global ROM

No root required, but Unlock yes.
Go through Unlock procedure (incl. 30 days wait), then install the Global ROM (https://xiaomi.eu/community/). This has proper translations and no Chinese native Bloatware.
Thank you for the quick response. I only seem to have one further problem. When I get to that website, how do I find what I'm looking for? Am I downloading the new MIUI 10? That wasn't quite what I was expecting if so.
If it were me (and it was since I also have one) I'd flash https://download.pixelexperience.org/treble_gsi/
It brings the device back in line with "traditional" interfaces we're used to in North America.
It's going to be far more complicated than rooting, but well worth it in my opinion.
Even deleting everything I could that was Chinese off the stock ROM didn't fix all the Chinese.
