[BACKUP]Stock Eclair backup with fastboot - GT540 Optimus Android Development

FIXED
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey guys,
I uploaded a backup of stock Eclair for all of you who want to go back to a stock Android 2.1 ROM. It's European Open with fastboot. Click here to get the download!
Note: you can flash this ROM only with recovery. ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.8 is recommended.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to go back to 2.1:
1. Download and the file and copy it to the root of your SD card (don't rename it, because the installation might fail)
2. Boot in recovery, go to "install zip from sd card", then "choose zip from sd card"(or something similar)
3. Wait for a couple of minutes
Tip: you don't have to do a factory reset before flashing, because this ROM automatically does it for you.

Thanks for the upload.

Looks like it's too big to be flashed with fastboot. I'll try to make a file for recovery as soon as possible.

I found a way to fix it. I'm going to fix it this evening.

The problem is system.img is too big to be flashed with fastboot. That's why I'm making a file for recovery.

Sorry, moved to 2.2. I only tested it if it works, because in the beginning, I messed something up. I think it has Greek language.

Does this have the function of when the phone is off, you plug it in and it charges without fully turning on (charging screen) (this gets rid of battery issues from 2.3 apparently)?

It's simple. Don't unpack the file. Put the file on your Micro SD card, boot into recovery, and tell it to flash the zip file. Once you've done that, you'll have a stock phone again, without recovery or anything.
Surely it won't unroot too though....will it ?!?!?

Sounds like you don't have fastboot. What ROM do you have flashed on your phone? Is it a stock Android version 1.6, 2.1 or do you have a custom ROM 2.1, 2.2 or 2.3? You need a custom ROM with fastboot mode enabled - an explanation of this is beyond the scope of this thread. Try this thread to flash a 2.1 ROM with fastboot enabled. Sorry to be brief but there are tutorials on flashing recovery images and this thread is really just a newsflash for a new release... HTH

You CAN flash recovery with a non-fastboot enabled ROM. Here's the tutorial:
JackG from MoDaCo said:
Yes there is, make sure you have the fastboot rom flashed and you are rooted, and download something called "flash_image" (from the attachments below) and put it in the root of your SD Card, get your recovery image in the root of the card too.
Then, download Terminal Emulator from the market when it opens press the menu button and select "Toggle Soft Keyboard" when the keyboard comes up type in
CODE
su
cd /sdcard
chmod 755 flash_image
./flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
(Change the recovery.img to the name of your recovery image eg. recovery_clockwork_2.5.1.8_swift.img or recovery_clockwork_2.5.0.5_swift.img)
Then, reboot the phone, and hold down the Menu+Power and you should be welcomed with the Clockwork menu.

Can't flash Evervolv's Aosp TexasIce Cream Sandwich

Hello, sorry for my probably noobish question.
I'm, trying to flash Evervolv's Aosp TexasIce Cream Sandwich on my gf's N1. I've followed all steps, installed Blackrose, set the suggested values, flashed the custom hboot. Then I've downloaded the ROM zip but I'm not able to flash it via fastboot.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash zip Evervolv-Perdo-2.2.0a6-passion-20120720.zip
sending 'zip' (110555 KB)...

writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) zip header checking...
(bootloader) zip info parsing...
FAILED (remote: parsing android-info fail)
finished. total time: 30.279s
Could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I've also tried to uninstall Blackrose and try to flash the ROM via recovery, but Blackrose keeps waiting for the device and that's all.
Tried to flash the original hboot but Blackrose keeps installed...
Any help would be really welcome...
Many thanks.

Yeah you can. Find the stock recovery you want (pull it from a decrypted ruu zip for example) and flash it like any other recovery. Make sure ur bootloader's unlocked first.

If you had the recovery.img pulled from the RUU and you STILL have CWM after flashing, then either flashing went wrong or the recovery.img is NOT a stock recovery.
After flashing the stock recovery there shouldn't be anything with CWM anymore.

I was hoping you fixed the issue. I don't know what to do.
It's a matter of unlocking the boot loader. Once you do that, you can jump back and forth between ICS-based ROMs and everything else.
Gingerbread ROMs include the boot loader (marvel and Huexxx).

Did you already try the alternative way without the app? Which means load the files to your sdcard and afterwards type the dd if=xxxx of=xxxx? This could show if it works or fails. And did you ever flash the LU5900 port? So the early ICS ROM released by Redy, Gabwerkz and me. Try the manual unlock first.

OK I have the terminal emulator on my phone.
I've read the thread and it says "Move this two files, bootloader and recovery to the root of memory sdcard;
Enter in the command line
su
dd if=/sdcard/u-boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p2
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
And reboot or reboot recovery."
I have downloaded all on my laptop(bootloader recovery and su) but I am confuse....what's with that "su"?
Do I have to put it on the root of the sdcard too?
Sorry for my noob question
