Can't flash Evervolv's Aosp TexasIce Cream Sandwich - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, sorry for my probably noobish question.
I'm, trying to flash Evervolv's Aosp TexasIce Cream Sandwich on my gf's N1. I've followed all steps, installed Blackrose, set the suggested values, flashed the custom hboot. Then I've downloaded the ROM zip but I'm not able to flash it via fastboot.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash zip Evervolv-Perdo-2.2.0a6-passion-20120720.zip
sending 'zip' (110555 KB)...
OKAY [ 19.447s]
writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) zip header checking...
(bootloader) zip info parsing...
FAILED (remote: parsing android-info fail)
finished. total time: 30.279s
Could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I've also tried to uninstall Blackrose and try to flash the ROM via recovery, but Blackrose keeps waiting for the device and that's all.
Tried to flash the original hboot but Blackrose keeps installed...
Any help would be really welcome...
Many thanks.

I've been looking for the tarball but all links are broken. I supposed there was no problem flashing a rom via fastboot...
Could anyone share a mirror of the tar.bz2 file?
@Taodan, I'm not able to access the recovery and I also cannot load the current ROM, it gets stuck at the X logo...
Thanks for your help guys...

@kindgott your recovery might be corrupted. Flash recovery again. Do not uninstall blackrose and you need custom hboot for ICS ROM

Thanks Xeloni, but these are only JellyBean ROM links (3.0). Don't know if they are stable enough to be flashed.
Taodan, will flash another recovery, thanks!

Forgot you wanted to flash ics lol

My main problem now is that I've flashed 4Ext recovery but it is not working. Boot in fastboot mode, select Recovery and it gets stuck with the android screen... ¿?

I cleared cache with Android's own recovery. This phone was on 2.3.6 stock rom.
I flashed the latest 4Ext (4Ext classic recovery img) but it did not flash, as it does not appear once I boot in recovery mode.
Will try to clear cache from fastboot, that's my last hope... Thanks for the suggestion Earth08

[Q] Changing from CWM to 4EXT Recovery touch

Hey,
I want (well not want, it's necessary) to change from CWM to 4ext recovery touch. i donwloaded the 4ext recovery updater, flashed the recovery from the app and rebooted to recovery. still there is cwm. i tried again with the classic version of 4ext recovery but the result remains the same.
i'd be glad if anyone can help me.
regards
If I'm not mistaken they are integrated..... Synergy!!!!!
i don't know what you're trying to say. my point is that 4ext recovery does not start when it should start. instead cwm is starting.
I'm trying to say that 4ext recovery is integrated into your cwm recovery to allow for 4ext partitions and backwards compatibility to 3ext. If the recovery isn't working you haven't told me that your original h-boot is 2.0000.
yeah right, i didn't told you that.
thanks for your help anyway. i managed to get it working by myself through flashing it via fastboot.
Good to hear no problem.
I am having the same problem. May I know what you mean by flashing using fastboot?

I asume you somewhat know how to use fastboot or read up on it. Havent flashed through fastboot for some time now but I think the line would be "fastboot flash recovery recoveryfile.img"

Just my 2 cents, but you can't install core Droid with 4ext, so I have to wonder at it's advantage over cwm.?

Hi,
I don't know how you solved this, but I had exactly the the same problem with an HTC Desire, can't upgrade to 4ext from CWM v2.5.0.7.
In my case, I solved it by running unrevoked again, but specifying the 4Ext recovery image. (I used the 4Ext app on the phone to download the appropriate .zip to the SDCard, then transferred it to the PC and extracted it there.)

Just came along this thread by accident.
Just for reference:
This is nonesense
4ext recovery has nothing to do with cwmr and they are not integrated.
You need to be s-off to be able to flash a recovery from inside your rom.
In the case you are not s-off, just download (or install) the recovery via recovery control/updater.
It will prepare your recovery config, but it cannot effectively update the recovery partition when you are not s-off.
So after you did that, you need to flash it manually.
You will find the recovery.img you tried to install or downloaded via recovery control in your sdcard's download folder.

is it possible flash a rom without s-off?

as the title, my phone couldnt get into adb to get s-off
You need either HTC Dev unlock
or revolutionary s off to flash a custom ROM
That's the simple explanation

You can
And make sure you fast boot flash your boot.img as well
Sent from my Nexus 7
If you're unlocked through htc dev, just flash custom recovery (4ext touch recommended) and you can flash custom roms after that.
Just make sure to flash boot.img through adb as said by mark. Always do this after flashing new rom when you are s-on.

Every time you flash a new ROM or kernel you need to open up the zip of the new ROM and fast boot flash it, otherwise it probably wont boot unless there is a similar kernel already

If you use the app to install recovery, make sure to extract the recovery.img file in the downloaded zip and manually flash that through fastboot. Only have to do this while s-on

Most of the time all you'll need to do is flash the new Rom.zip in recovery and wipe dalcik cache and cache. If more steps are necessary ill make sure you all know. If you're running into trouble or weird stuff. You'll need to full wipe (data cache dalvik and system), and then flash the Rom.zip

get rid of cwm...

hello,
would you be so kind to help me remove cwm and install stock recovery?
I tried to flash own recovery with All-In-One as well as through command line

could you help me with that

You need to flash the stock one as you did when you flashed CWM in the first place

You could try and flash the correct firmware.zip or a Stock Rom Reset
Don't think you can just flash a stock recovery without flashing an RUU or indeed one of the resets.
Don't understand why you would want to though...

Yeah you can. Find the stock recovery you want (pull it from a decrypted ruu zip for example) and flash it like any other recovery. Make sure ur bootloader's unlocked first.

Well, I can bet I tried this already and after flashing stock recovery and booting into bootloader I had initial cwm screen and then cwm is freezing (no menu)...
Is it important to do any specific action after flashing stock recovery?

If you had the recovery.img pulled from the RUU and you STILL have CWM after flashing, then either flashing went wrong or the recovery.img is NOT a stock recovery.
After flashing the stock recovery there shouldn't be anything with CWM anymore.
