I am deaf. i am able understand about android sdk fastboot cmd thing on youtube. do i have to rom zip moved to internal sd then wipe Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache, and System in cmw then flash rom img fastboot? i wanna install borked rom. my phone is vivid.
To flash a Rom if you are s-on
1: download the Rom
2: backup everything ( apps sms.. )
3: extract boot img from Rom
4: power off your vivid, pull battery, hold down power button and volume down button and when the bootloader screen pops up use the volume buttons to navigate to fastboot.
5: connect vivid to pc and flash boot IMG with fastboot flash boot boot.img command
6: reboot into recovery and wipe dalvik, cache, and do a factory reset.
7: flash rom
8: reboot and enjoy sense 4.1

Most of the time all you'll need to do is flash the new Rom.zip in recovery and wipe dalcik cache and cache. If more steps are necessary ill make sure you all know. If you're running into trouble or weird stuff. You'll need to full wipe (data cache dalvik and system), and then flash the Rom.zip

Hello, sorry for my probably noobish question.
I'm, trying to flash Evervolv's Aosp TexasIce Cream Sandwich on my gf's N1. I've followed all steps, installed Blackrose, set the suggested values, flashed the custom hboot. Then I've downloaded the ROM zip but I'm not able to flash it via fastboot.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash zip Evervolv-Perdo-2.2.0a6-passion-20120720.zip
sending 'zip' (110555 KB)...
OKAY [ 19.447s]
writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) zip header checking...
(bootloader) zip info parsing...
FAILED (remote: parsing android-info fail)
finished. total time: 30.279s
Could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I've also tried to uninstall Blackrose and try to flash the ROM via recovery, but Blackrose keeps waiting for the device and that's all.
Tried to flash the original hboot but Blackrose keeps installed...
Any help would be really welcome...
Many thanks.

I've been looking for the tarball but all links are broken. I supposed there was no problem flashing a rom via fastboot...
Could anyone share a mirror of the tar.bz2 file?
@Taodan, I'm not able to access the recovery and I also cannot load the current ROM, it gets stuck at the X logo...

I cleared cache with Android's own recovery. This phone was on 2.3.6 stock rom.
I flashed the latest 4Ext (4Ext classic recovery img) but it did not flash, as it does not appear once I boot in recovery mode.
Will try to clear cache from fastboot, that's my last hope... Thanks for the suggestion Earth08

Download latest version of 4ext recovery
check ur hboot parttion, is it the one require for Texasice ICS
and also pls check ur cache size,
and also try fastboot to flash to flash recovery and for booting into recovery
caz i was facing the same prob when i was on lower cache size on stock 2.3.6
The question is, i have a custom rom installed now, if i download and install a new kernal that didnt come with the rom. Will i have to reinstall the rom and all of im data, or will it just reboot as it was before the kernel change ?
Are you soff or son?
If your not soff you will have to flastboot flash the kernel. Than you will have to flash the kernel to get the correct kernel modules (needed for WiFi)
If you are soff then just flash the kernel zip and your good to go
It wont delete the ROM...as long as you don't wipe data, I usually don't wipe anything but some people wipe cache and dalvic cache
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
You should always wipe cache and dalvik-cache after a flash

I am s on. I just wasnt sure if i could do that and not loose everything. Thanks for the help !
Use a program from the play store called flash image GUI. It works great on S-on devices. I changed kernels and what I did was use the program to flash the boot image for the new kernel and then I booted into recovery and installed the kernel zip. Worked great. If you have any WiFi issues afterwards, you might have to move some files to a system folder. I'm sorry, I can't remember the files right now, but if you had problems, I could look for them for ya. The program is just much easier than flashing through fast boot on a computer.

I went into recovery and wiped system, data, cache and delvik cache. Does this means formatting all the partitions?
Sent from my Incredible S using xda premium
If you are using 4ext touch recovery, it is available in the wipe/format menu:
"Format system, dalvik, cache and android.secure" (all partitions except fat32 micro SD partition).
Use it every time you flash a different ROM. Or search for the ARHD super wipe script in the arhd thread in the Dev section. The ARHD Suprr wipe script zip file does the same function when flashed from recovery.

Hi Guys. This is the link for Android Revolution HD 30.0 for HTC ONE with Sense 5.5 and Android 4.3. I have an international HTC ONE with android revolution HD 12.1 by mike1986 and android ver 4.2.2 . I would be very grateful if any one gives a tutorial on how to flash this rom on my htc one. I am asking for a tutorial because last time (when flashing my previous rom) my phone got nearly bricked (no wifi , no storage were the least of my worries) . I managed to unbrick the phone somehow but this time i want a proper tutorial. PLZ anyone post this tutorial. I will give a thanks to one who posts it...(I have already downloaded Android_Revolution_HD-One_30.0zip file) And i have a TWRP recovery..
You need to unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, makijg a preliminary assumption you have done so. Download the file. It will be in the download folder. Once downloaded boot up recovery CWRM or TWRP, whichever you installed. Make sure you have a NAND backup of existing ROM yoyu are currently using, safety measure.
Wipe data/ factory reset via recovery
Wipe cache partition
Wipe dalvic/cache
Install zip from sd card
Search for Android_Revolution_HD-One_30.0.zip in download folder
Follow Aroma Installer Option
Reboot
Wait for full boot may take a few minutes, be patient
BTW if you experience boot loop which you shouldnt just hold down power button for 15 seconds. Once phone turns off hold down volume down and it will boot into bootloader.
From there volume down to recovery option and try again

So my phone is stuck on the Motorola Dual Core logo after trying to flash a 4.4 Rom. I am still able to get to get into my recovery and into fastboot. No matter what rom I try to flash it still seems to go into the boot cycle. I have tried flashing to stock firmware with no luck. Anyone know what I should do?
After trying to flash stock again it seems like it is on but the screen is pitch black. When holding down the power button it gives the the vibrations after a little bit. Really not sure what this means. When plugging the device into the computer when the screen is black windows does recognize that there is a device and plays the noise but it does not show up in the devices list.

Alright, try flashing back to stock manually. Unzip the .zip, open the .xml in notepad(++) and on every line you'll see something along the lines of operation, partition, img. Open a command prompt in the location of the folder that contains the .xml (not the .zip, shift-click on white space in the folder and click open command prompt window here) and flash each line by typing
Code:
fastboot operation partition img
so each should look something like
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Just don't do the one that says "GPT_MAIN1.img" or something of the sort (should be one of the first ones). Also type
Code:
fastboot -w
before you start.

Hi all,
I have the same problem... I cannot flash CM 11.0 builds. In the first boot it works, but if you reboot, it will get stuck in Motorola's logo.
I also tried to restore original images (using sbf dot droid-developers dot org / phone.php?device=7 AT&T 4.1.1 image), but with no success.
CM 10.1 build works fine, so that's odd.
My fastboot bootloader says:
"
AP Fastbot Flash Mode (NS)
10.9B(*) (sha-2e68372 2012-11-17 23:33:08)
eMMC Info: Size 8GB
Device is UNLOCKED, Status Code: 1
...
"
Is your bootloader unlocked?
Yes
What recovery are you using?
Tried CWM 6.0.38 and Philz latest.
What ROM did you try to flash?
CM 11.1 nightly (cm-11-20131217-NIGHTLY-mb886.zip)
How did you flash it?
Wiped everything and then flashed
How are you trying to flash back to stock?
Using RSD Lite.
Thanks very much!
Did you try updating to Phiz latest here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552622
It is my understanding that the latest CWM is required to flash 4.4 and higher roms.

Yes, I downloaded it last night... Is it better to use Philz or pure CWM?
My atrix HD broke however when it was working I was able to get cm11 on it by flashing using this recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2421418
When flashing cyanogen mod, wipe EVERYTHING basically /system /cache dalvik and then storage as well, this prevents the emulated/0/0/0/0/0 directory type of thing from happening, then after flashing factory reset clear cache and wipe dalvik then start up the phone. This has always worked for me and makes a squeaky clean install

I currently use Touch CWM which Philz is based upon. From my experience, the latest release for both will do the job.
