Lost Icons - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I have GT-I9000. with GB 2.3.3. XXJVK stock Rom.
Not sure but most probably, as I turned off while syncing with Google account I have lost the "Phone", "Contacts", "Message" icons on Bottom Bar of idle screen, it remained only "Applicarions" icon.
How can I bring back those..

Did you try rebooting the phone, or doing another Google sync?
Also, do those apps still appear in the app drawer?

"New Message(s) - You have an unread message"

Hi Guys,
I have a problem with a notification I always get. Im getting it since two days now and dont know if its a bug in a program I downloaded the last days or if its due a system bug. Anyway Im using "GO SMS" instead of the Samsung, and I always geht the following notifaction when I get a text, the phone rings both times aswell.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17212932/CAP201101051342.jpg (Notification bar , left icon (the mail))
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17212932/CAP2011010513421.jpg ) (Bottom notification)
I turned of the Samsung notification already and it was working normal. I put a new generated Doc ROM on my phone too (without wipe).
I think the notification came once even without getting a text! The weird thing is also that my system language is german and the notification is in english?!? So is it sth. to worry about? You read those scary virus, trojan news lately . Anyway someone know whats going on?
Hope one of you can help me .
Thanks
Rob

Yo, i had the same problem and found a solution.
I think you installed baeutiful widgets?
Just try add widget "Beautiful SMS" then settings popup and turn off
"Show notification" - this is it, that notification show on top of the screen even if sms is readed...
Then You may delete that widget from the screen.
When this setting I've turn off, don't have this problem no more
hey ,
yeah right, this was the solution! I tried sth. else aswell, I deinstalled the second animation addon and it was gone!
The first one made no problems.
So in the end, yes it was beautiful widget .
Thanks
Greets

[Q] How to get rid of second battery icon?

Hey all... I just finished flashing speedmod with darky's rom 9.2 extreme and noticed what appears to be 2 battery icons. If I tap the left one it displays the date then goes back to the battery icon.
What is the purpose of that and how do I remove it?
Also I don't seem to see the samsung email social hub. Is it no longer in production? It worked nice for push emails.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, you get rid of the left hand side icon just first pulling down tho notification slider and then just press the row that displays the unplugged since.... Then menu -button --> close --> yes.
Same can be done by opening the circular battery app from your apps and pressing menu -button --> close --> yes.
Got it! Thanks.
Another question regarding this, the battery icon on the left seems to be the one that changes color whereas the one on the right is always green/grey.
Is it possible to remove the one on the right and keep the one on the left?
Or to make the one on the right change colors as the battery changes?
Thanks in advance
It is not possible to remove the right battery icon. At least i do not know. You can simply uninstall the app circle battery indicator to delete the left one.
If you think the right one is ugly or must be same with the left one , you can install the configurator and check the option "circle battery icon". So now after the reflash you will be surprised.

[Q] 2.3.3 Update | No more #s over icons

Hi all,
So I've updated to 2.3.3 and now I no longer get my 'unread' notifications over my icons (specifically Messages and GMail). They do appear in the notification bar, however, so as far as I know everything is turned on as much as it can be.
Is this because of the specific ROM I installed (below), or is there a setting I'm not noticing?

Thanks a bunch!

Have you added just a shortcut to messages rather than the widget for messages?
I think it's a shortcut, but this was the functionality I had in 2.2 - the icons were still in place after the update to 2.3.3 but the notification numbers no longer appear.

For an app shortcut, you don't get the unread numbers. Remove shortcut, add widget.
OK, noob question time...
If I add the Messages widget, I get something other than an icon - I get a large thing that displays messages. Am I missing something obvious?
This is what I did to get the icons on my home screen: Personalize > Add items to Home > App > Messages.
Thanks again!

Ooops you're right sorry, I'm sure that was what you had to do in the old Android 1.1 days though. Maybe I'm mistaken.
Perhaps something to do with your notification settings in messages?
Haha! No worries. At least I'm not as dumb as I thought..
All notification settings are 'on'. Thanks for your time!
In case anyone else runs into this - remove the app from the home screen and re-add it. Seems to have solved the problem.

[Q] HD 8.9 Status bar prob

Tried both Apex and Go HD launchers (installed in /system/app), and both show the same problem: The status bar disapperars when there's a new notification. Instead, the open app starts to jerk down intermittently, and I can see the status bar trying to show up, just to disappear again. Mostly I have to reboot to grt it back, but now and then it reappears all by itself. A bit annoying, so: Anyone who has an idea about what to do to fix this?
<edit>The status bar reappears when the notification is cleared, i.e. I open the Mail app, the mail notification is cleared (I guess), and the status bar appears and behaves like normal again. That's the only way to restore normal functionality, it seems.</edit>

The problem you are having is caused by gmail. There is a way to fix it, they discuss it in another thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896958&highlight=gmail+notifications
Just go into settings and turn off notifications to gmail
Thank you! I've disabled the notification, and keep my fingers crossed. If worst comes to worst, the std mail client on the Kindle is quite workable too.

I almost like it a little better. Since I have multiple email accounts.

Yeah, I agree - it's quite good. However, on all my phones, I have GMail in the GMail app, all other mail in Email app, and I'm not much for changes...

[Q] Help! My HTC One crashed and now my lock screen is broken

In advance I want to say thank you for taking the time to read this. I've searched all over the internet and cannot find anything about this anywhere.
Tonight my HTC One randomly restarted and when it came back up, all my sense settings were restored to default, minus features. I.e. my quick settings menu was restored to default quick settings links and the order changed. The font size throughout the phone was restored to medium. The time changed back to 12 hour mode from 24 hour mode. My ringtone/notification/alarm tons were restored to default. But most frustratingly, the lock screen is messed up. I can only swipe up to unlock, instead of swiping left and right to get to blinkfeed, etc. And all of my shortcuts are inaccessible from the lock screen--as in, my messages, phone, email, etc--I can no longer swipe up on the icons (because they are not there) to immediately open those apps. I have to swipe up to unlock then tap the icon. Also, I no longer have message or missed call previews on the lock screen. It shows the time and weather but nothing else, even when I have notifications. Note that none of my other settings were restored to default--my shortcuts on the different panels are the same, my background the same, no apps were lost, etc.
Please, please help me.
Edit: my power saver mode icon is no longer available in the drop-down menu when it's enabled (i.e. there's the notification for it with the check box on the right that allows me to turn it off and that notification is no longer there).

Stock. Does no one have any info on this error?
Did you try factory reset? If you didn't, try it, but backup your phone first
