Tranquility 2.3.7: A Blurless Droid X is Now Here
Thanks to p3droid!
Just installed this over 2.2 OTA Rooted Deodexed and put the NexTheme from Fab on top of it. Seems to be running smooth for now.. I did put launcher pro on top of it because I like there Social and Calendar Widgets. Super Easy to install. Quadrant still ran the same as the stock ROM though high 1300's.
Do get need to be deodexed to flash this?

How does this match up against rubiX?
been a while since I had tranq on my X. I noticed the file size is small compared to rubiX.

This is a new style of install for me and the Droid community in general. The update.zip format will only remove those files necessary to install itself, if your phone is odexed, it will deodex it for you and install. It has a very small footprint because it is only installing what is necessary.

To be honest, I have no Idea. I installed this ROM and it got rid of all the bloatware and some different application settings a long with their new launcher. When I put NexTheme on it didnt seen to change anything from the ROM that I noticed.
installing a theme shouldnt change anything but the theme stuff. If you have a theme installed and install a new rom you are most likely gonna loose the theme and have to reinstall it afterwards.
i have seen that some themes dont play so nice with the "blurless" roms. but i dont use themes so i can't speak from experience.
I noticed that the previous version of tranquility messed with my corp. email and calendar. Some other ROMs did the same, has anyone who has a corp.email set up through exchange server installed this?? perfer not to use touchdown I like the 2.2 imbedded. So please let me know cause so far all I can run is 2.3.15 leak nobody else care much about the corp. thing and I wish I didnt have to.
i use an exchange server and have not had any issues with any roms stock or otherwise. I never had the 2.1 issue either so guess mine might be a "simple" setup compared to others. Works for me on this too.
what happens when you try to use the exchange server on these roms? what errors are you getting?
As it turns out P3Droid responded to me by saying that what I need is a part of blur, and that I can use corp email through the email app itself but it doesnt really have the same functionality and the corp calendar wont work and I cant sync everything so in my case I cant use it unless I use a third party app called touchdown and even that is kinda spotty. I rely heavily on this function.

In order to add back the parts you need, I will need to add back in a great deal of blur. If you don't mind I will work on it over the next few days to see what I can do for you to get you blurless and corp calendar.

Where is the Nextheme for 2.2?
EDIT: nevermind
Only difference I noticed is they added an Alarm Clock app, and the Tranquility wallpaper pack.

My phone was NOT deodexed and is now a paperweight so be careful. even though it says it can still be odex it isn't correct and will cut you into bootloop and the next thing you know MEM_MAP Blank and you're calling VZW begging for a new phone.
also since there's no new SBF file yet you cannot fix it.

I'm not sure why it hasn't been mentioned on XDA yet, but TQ 3.0 has been released:
I'm only putting it out here, so if someone wants to make an official thread then go ahead. I'm amazed no one has said anything here... unless I'm missing something. Looks sweet!
READ ALL THE WARNINGS - especially Rubix users:
I'm leaving the below link in the post just in case, but the rom owner asked me to update the OP with a direct link. Don't worry, I tested the link, it's not malicious. Please visit this link first :

Thanks,
Installed and seems like this ROM is solid....no bug(s) yet....nice
Confused
This is supposed to be a blurless rom, correct? I loaded it last night, and def still has blur in it.... When I get home I'll have to see if it actually deodexed like it promised. Even Contacts are still blur...
I will say that it's FAST though..

All of the current ROMS have *some* level of Blur. Since we cannot bypass the Moto Kernel, there are some levels of base code that just have to be there.
Tranquility, Apex, zapX, and Rubix 0.5 were all built on the 2.3.15 release and then removed as much of the blur components as they could and still have it function.
Fission & Rubix 1.0 built from a base that came out of the Droid2 SDK which appears to be very stock Android and therefore, they are a little more 'blur-less' than others. Which is both good and bad. Time is showing that some of the blur components have some nice functionality that people are missing when they go completely blur-less.

This is absolutely true and was the same for the D1 except it wasn't Blur, but you can't build AOSP for D1 either without using the extract-files.sh to pull all of the proprietary components that make the phone work.
It's a basic truth about phone firmware.
can anyone tell me how the contacts list comes up aosp style or blur< i noticed blur has a thing to merge my phone contact with fb and twitter< without having to use the same name on fb and my contact info. please let me know thanks guys!!

Had rubix fallowed the instructions of installing the 2.3 detox then installing the tranq rom but the home buttion no longer works tried flashing the 2.3 rom still the home problem tried rubix after that. Same thing. Can I install the 2.2 stock rom in clockwork without wiping the phone? I just want to get my hone button to work again

From what I read you may want to do a sbf back to stock 2.2 then install this.
I am seriously considering installing this to test out but want a little more feedback from users as to any possible issues (mail/pop3 etc..)

Its running pretty damn good for me. And since I have Tasker set up to sync my data every 30 mins, my battery life is great also. I'd imagine it would be even better if I set it to sync every 45 or 60 mins.
Love TranQ3.0, and I never thought I'd be saying that.

So far, I've had like maybe one or two glitches.... sometimes after a reboot the boot screen gets left on the lock screen, so you can still unlock your phone, but you have to guess where the sliders are.
another is that the calendar widget doesn't work.
Other then those two, the rom is FAST, stable, and battery life has been great. Worth it to me in my opinion... It's not an ASOP "experience" though... it's more like a hybrid.
Like it so far though, it's my daily driver.
Edit: Also, this applies to STOCK people (running the 2.2 OTA).... I was odexed, completely stock..... installed this rom with ease: no wiping, no formatting, nada. AND it deodexed my phone for me.... LOVE THAT.
Youtube app and music does not work for me. Mp3 are not recognized by player. I went back to 2.3.8 and everything works fine.

I have bought tasker aS well (the stock rom doesn't let the os sleep when gps is enabled so I bought it to turn it on and off for all my apps)
Now I like your idea of syncing every 30 but I use google voice exclusively. And the voice app. Does that mean if I turn off my sync I won't get my messages in a timely mater?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
This rom also doesn't seem to sleep when wick is on. Am I missing something? Anyway I do see how this can save a lot a battery with the screen dining and everything. I had to wipe my phone to get it to work. Last time I tried when I booted every system app was force closing. I feel like this is a little slower than rubix but way faster then stock. Could be too the drawer just doesn't feel right. Too bouncy for me to use quickly. Ill probably go to pro launcher. But if I don't want to how do I customize the 4 apps at the bottom? Its driving me nuts

Too early to tell. Honestly, though, I was fine with battery life under 6.2.
I've had good luck with it so far and it seems pretty snappy as it's running. I do seem to be having an issue of the Nook randomly restarting and I can't tell what's causing it. Anyone else seeing this?
bleh......
Does it support iptables?
I cannot add gmail account after flashing. It keeps saying my username/password is wrong even though I am sure it's not.
Anyone ran into this problem?

It does not support anything that CM 7.0.3 already support. Phiremod is NOTHING but a CM7 theme; nothing at all special. People will be much better off using the newer nightlies (which are using the newer .32 kernel).
The latest nightlies support iptables? I thought only Dalingren's OC kernel had iptables support (that I could find). Phiremod 6.3 says it has an OC kernel, but doesn't say which one. Does the nightly have an OC kernel, or one with iptables support?

Are you using 2 step authentication for your google account? If so you might have to create a app specific password in your google account settings.
I don't get phiremod.
He does say he just adds stuff he likes, but the love/desire/understanding for it is beyond me.
Slow market
I just downloaded phiremod 6.3 and it is working very well. This my my nooks first rooted rom.
The only problem ive encountered so far, and its not really a problem, but the market is downloading apps very slowly. It took 30 mins to DL angry birds. My wifi is clocking at 10 DL speed and 3 upload speed on my HD2 so its not a slow connection.
any ideas?

Phiremod is sort of the autonooter of CM7s. It's a finished, easily flashable distribution that includes some nice tweaks and extras all in one package and you can count on pretty much everything working. It's for guys who don't want to bother with going from nightly to nightly.
At least that's how I look at it.

Gimme a break.
Look, if you area already to the point that you are comfortable flashing a rom to your nook, the hardest part is behind you. I would say if you have some issue, but have problems downloading some apps from the market, and applying a theme (lets face it, there aren't any actual tweaks in Phiremod - it is all just UI fluff and pre-installed apps), you should see some help.

"Premature Dead Battery" where some ppl are having battery charging issues, both on CM7 and at least me using Phiremod build. I had done the battery calibration process , and I was trying to drain down the battery so I could do a full uninterrupted recharge, but at 18% left it just...died. Thinking that it just ran out.
I connected to the wall charger, but it just kept doing bootloops, getting as far as the Google logo, then restarting. I was finally able to charge mine back up yesterday, but not sure what happened or what caused it. There is a thread about the battery issues here on xda, seems like the most recent nightlies have solved the issue
Hi , i have had this problem like a week now, i have tried everything and my android os still taking a bite out of my battery, using almost 40-60%, giving me like 7-8 hours of almost no use. Please i dont know what to, im running CM7 stock kernel, and i keep getting this problem.

Are you running the latest cm7? (as in its 2.3.5?) Pretty sure that bug was fixed past 2.3.3 (I could be wrong)
Edit: After reading a little on their wiki (its been a while since Ive used Cyanogenmod) I found out that If you are running a "stable" version you are on 2.3.3 and that's a bug on android's side.

Wipe and reflash and do not install any apps. Verify if the problem is a app or not. Also do not run widgets or anything else, basically run it as close to stock as you can.

To be honest i wouldn't know. I don't like AOSP roms on the Galaxy S phones. To be honest haven't been on CM7 since nightly was 2.3.3 (been a while). But from my experience Native roms work better for longer periods of times. But I9000 ports work well enough. I also like Audience chip support.

I believe it is, but your kernel might have to change. I do know both CM7 and MIUI have a few kernels to chose from, some might be limited to a specific bootloader. Again I could be wrong.

Hmmm, I flashed it, erased data and dalvik cache, nothing at the incredible screen, did it again, same thing?
Not to be rude or anything, but I haven't even been able to get passed the welcome screen due to reboots. I've had six in a row after the language screen. This has been the case with my phone on any of the current ICS roms. It will eventually get passed it, but still randomly reboot all over the place.
Agenda Calendar Widget
After installing this ROM, GAPPS, and a couple of apps I got a few soft reboots, but it now seems stable. So don't give up on this right away. Reboot and few times and it should get better. GPS, wifi, sound all seem to be working well.
It did start with language as Afrikaans, but I managed to find my way through the menus and switch to English.
I don't think any camera app will function. Something to do with the lib files needing updating. I don't think anyone has that figured out yet for ics-dinc.
Does anyone have an agenda style calendar widget that works with this or any ics-dinc ROM? Seems that smooth calendar is not ready for ics yet.
People stuck at the welcome screen probably didnt do a full wipe, including system wipe and boot. Exciting, can't wait to try.

Why would I or anyone not do a full wipe? I understand there are some people that are that noob, but really? I've tried ICS over ten times now and have had the same results with each iteration. I've had many reboots from just typing in my email address. This is not an issue of wiping.

is this any different than R2's latest build in terms of smoothness, speed, or improvements?

Anyone flashed both and have any thoughts on this?
R2's ROM at least has a much more detailed changelog and list of what works/doesnt work. With nothing else to go on, I have to assume that the better-documented one is the better ROM.
I'd like to hear what people think though.
Try vrsuperwipe after wiping and before flashing

I can't get the ringer or alarms to work on R2's version. They all work on Deck's.

Both work about the same. Though I had fewer fc's using Inc decks, but that doesn't really mean anything as they are both pre-alpha.
Make sure you guys understand what you're doing with this build, as in, if it won't boot or you boot loop or get stuck, the problem is what YOU are doing, and not the rom.
First of all, if you haven't checked the Md5 sum then you're really wasting your time and shooting blind. It HAS to match EXACTLY.
Second, follow the dev's instructions exactly as they wrote them. That means wipe and format the areas listed, and install the proper files in the proper order. So if he says to install the rom first, don't reboot yet, then install gapps, then reboot, then do it in that order.
Third, pay attention to what your phone is doing during the installation, ensuring you get all the messages you're expecting.
Fourth, be PATIENT. Consider what it is your phone is doing the very first time you boot up after installation: building and loading, compiling and accessing files and db's for the FIRST time. Let your phone do it's job and give it some time before you go munching on the sammich.
And finally, be cool. Don't come in here on an Alpha pre release thread and stink up the joint. (say "*****, be cool") If you can't seem to get it to take, then try a different method. Download the rom on a computer and transfer it to your phone, see if you get a different md5. Flash the rom zip, then flash it again right away before anything else. You make it through the setup screen, reboot the mofo and let it gain some proficiency.
One more thing, all the time and effort these guys put in to get these out is free of charge. Keep that vibe going however you can.
Much love my friends
