I rooted my Nook Color using Auto-nooter 3.0. Everything is working fine, with one acception, I can't delete emails from Gmail. When I push the button to delete the email, I get the confirmation dialogue, but when I confirm the delete, the Nook Color returns me to the home screen for my launcher, but when I go back into Gmail, the old emails are still there. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a way to correct this problem?
I had this same problem on my phone. If you go under nook color tools, applications, manage applications and go down to the gmail app and clear data and cache it should fix the problem at least it did on my phone.
When I go to nookcolor tools>manage application, I have no entry for gmail at all, but I do have the gmail application installed.
What you could do is star the message and then delete it once it's been starred.

How do I remove a gmail account?
I'd be interested in this to. I rooted an NC using my gmail account...but now I'd like to remove that one and just use a different one.
I have successfully added that other gmail, so how do I remove the original?
Thanks!
Go into the settings/accounts menu in Gmail. Create another account (it can even be a duplicate of this account if you like). Once this is done a long press down on the other account will give you the option to remove it.
Thanks! I'll give that a shot.

Didn't work for me. I created another account, so now 2 are listed. Tapping the menu button at the bottom, I get a 2 rows of 3 options (Refresh, Compose, Accounts, View labels, Search, Settings).
I tap "Accounts" and the screen displays the 2 accounts that are now on the NC, with an option to "Add account" down at the bottom. If I press the Menu button here, that bottom tab changes to "Account Settings" but when I press that, the NC appears to do a soft reset.
Am I missing something? Or should I restore and root again?
Thanks!
I get the same thing here.
I have two GMail accounts listed and cannot remove either.
If I press and hold on an account on the "Add Accounts" page, nothing happens. Actually, no matter how long I "hold", when I release, I end up going to the inbox for the selected account.
Further, just like madman390, if I press the Menu button and bring up the bar that only has "Account Settings", if I select "Account Settings", my NC does a reboot of sorts (it doesn't crash back to the home screen and it doesn't go all the way back to a power-up screen, it goes to the "Nook Color" animation part of start-up).
I have the same issues as everyone here. I am giving the nook as a gift to someone else and i need to remove the accounts i used to get the market working. Could someone figure this out? Thx

Ok so I did a little messing around in the /data/ folder and I found the way to do it. You should leave one Gmail account at the end so you don't screw up the market. What you do is go into /data/system/ and edit accounts.db with an editor of your choice. You can even do it straight on the device through root explorer and the sqlite editor it requires. Open the file and delete the accounts you want to delete and then close it. I did a reboot after and the accounts disappeared from Gmail and YouTube and Gtalk. Gtalk now won't launch if you deleted the main account so you need to go into youtube, sign in again, then re-add the account in gmail and possibly Gtalk if it asks again. I had to do that a couple of times to get it to work, but now everything works. I also updated to the new market after thanks to another post

Well, I tried to follow your suggestion and it screwed up my NC where it would loop on the NOOK COLOR boot screen (Autonooter'd). I had to do the 8 reboots to get back to a useable state.

Thats interesting it worked for me without any trouble. The only problem that resulted that I see now is that it did remove all accounts and the everything worked again, but the market now refuses to download anything. I'm sorry it messed your nook up, maybe it only works if you used an older version of autonooter. Does anyone know how to make the market start downloads instead of be eternally stuck on "Starting download"? It is possible that you might need to look around your /data/ folder for xml files and more databases and change everything to the email you would like to use as a main email or maybe you just edited your db file incorrectly.
I always wonder about these posts, and if they are the people selling rooted nooks on ebay, for a profit. There seems to be more and more people selling them on there these days.
any update on this? I'd like to backup a ROM and replicate my setup, do a basic root to a friends nook, then restore with my backup, then setup his gmail. Kinda strange we are bound to the whole thing by an email address..
If not.. then people making ROMs could maybe make like: 1.1FW/1.1OC/Zeam/Gaaps/ROM manager/Astro/Titanium/NC Tools/XDA. you know.. all the stuff we are going to do anyway.ROMs
ops. double post.
No Solution
Has anyone found a solution to this...an easy one?
The default rooted Email app worked great the first few days after rooting but now it just kicks me back to my email listing if I attempt to open any of the actual emails.
I installed Touchdown email as a test and it exhibit same behavor - Email shows up fine, syncs fine but when I tap an email to open it I'm right back to the emails listing again.
I've perused various forums with no success... Any ideas?

I had the same problem. So I copied over the email.apk, calendar.apk, and calendarprovers.apk from my Samsung moment 2.1 phone to the nook and it has been working.
Could you post a copy of your working Email.apk? I'm having the same problem with my exchange account and couldn't for the life of me get k9 mail to work.
Ended up getting a mostly working workaround by setting mail to check only every half hour and only saving 3 days worth of messages. My guess was that it had something to do with the fact that the default client downloads everything including large attachments.

You need to copy it over to the /system/app/ folder and make sure it has the same permissions of the other apks there. Then reboot. It should work. It wasn't ment to be installed manually

Worked great, I can now open emails. I wasn't aware that particular .apk's installed different ways. I'm assuming that's a "system app" type thing compared to "market" apps?
Thanks for your help!

Yep, system apps I guess are not signed with a certificate since they are system apps. All other apks have to be signed.
Hello!
I have a HeroC running the Vanilla CM6.2.0 ROM
Is your GMail Sync active? Go to Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Click on the account in question and verify if the sync is active...
Yes it's definitely syncing. As soon as I get an email and it pops up on my gmail webpage, it shows up as a new email item on my Hero phone. But - any changes I make through my phone, like sending, reading, deleting, forwarding - none of it works - it doesn't sync with my online gmail account.
Hmmm.... interesting...
Yea its really weird. I am definitely getting every single new message on my gmail app. It notifies correctly and everything. But nothing else works. I uninstalled gmail using a root uninstaller and then downloaded Gmail again from the market, but the new download would not install. I had to nandroid back to get gmail back on my phone.
I would love some help!!
You might have already tried this... but you may want to clear cache from Manage applications & from recovery. Also, clear dalvik... see if it helps.

Had the same problem this morning, and this cleared it up for me, too. Thanks!
I'm having the same exact problem again today. It looks to be a recurring issue. Any permanent fixes?

I was having the same problem with my GMail app, and for some reason, I had not thought to do this, and this fixed it. Thanks!
EDIT: I have an Inspire 4G, so this should work regardless of your phone.
Yesterday my phone stopped sending GMail, seems to be perfectly fine elsewhere, texting, Yahoo!, etc. I believe that a Google Maps update took place yesterday, otherwise no changes. Can't see how that would be related though. I compose the message and press Send, there appears in red text "Sending" and the message appears in the Outbox on the device but it never moves it beyond that. I have tried restarting the device to no avail.
Thanks in advance,
-Gary
Go into settings/accounts & sync/gmail/ - make sure gmail is checked for all 3 options. You *may* have to re-sign in.
Hmm... definitely make sure it's setup to sync but most likely you need to clear any unsent emails from the outbox on your phone and then go into settings, applications, manage applications, gmail and clear data and then let it resync.

edit, nevermind
Hey all,
I just flashed the latest CM9 nightly with the latest gapps (and gapps fixer, god was I going crazy before finding that) and everything seems to be running pretty smoothly... except Google Talk.
It opens, it signs me in (finally, this gave me trouble too) but when I go into a conversation the trouble begins. I type out my message, hit enter, and nothing... sort of. It actually sends but doesn't appear in my conversation window. I can keep typing messages and sending but none appear. Then, when I receive a reply, I hit the notification, and my message(s) as well as theirs appear. Now if I reply again, go into another app, receive another message and try to go back, the conversation window is blank. If I type another message I cannot send it, it just remains in the text box when I hit enter. I go home, hit the multitasking button and close out Talk. Reopen and the cycle begins again.
I tried searching for this problem with various keywords to no avail. Not sure if anyone has seen this problem. But I'd appreciate any Insight. Thanks!
It simply seems like a sync issue.
Have you cleared the cache and data for Gtalk?
Also boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvok

Ok... Are you receiving your Gmail like its supposed to? What about other sync accounts like contacts and calendar or twitter and facebook.
If its only google related you need to wipe data from maybe download manager and Google services framework

Hmm... I just had my boyfriend send a test email and tweet, and I waited a few minutes and never received notifications for them. When I went into each app and refreshed they were there though. I don't use Calendar much but it is showing my events and Facebook birthdays.
I'm not having any weird issues in other apps like Talk, but I guess something is up with accounts and sync because now notifications aren't working?
Edit: Okay I just received a notification for an email. However, I was writing an email and when I went to type my contact in to the to field nothing popped up. No list to choose from I just had to type the email address manually.

OK do this... go to Accounts and Sync and shut off all sync accounts. Reboot. Once rebooted go back and turn sync back on for all accounts, wait a minute or two and reboot again... hopefully that will do it

Alright so I finally gave up and just did a factory reset of CM9 and all is working well in the fresh install. I appreciate your help, thanks!
