Hey all,
I just flashed the latest CM9 nightly with the latest gapps (and gapps fixer, god was I going crazy before finding that) and everything seems to be running pretty smoothly... except Google Talk.
It opens, it signs me in (finally, this gave me trouble too) but when I go into a conversation the trouble begins. I type out my message, hit enter, and nothing... sort of. It actually sends but doesn't appear in my conversation window. I can keep typing messages and sending but none appear. Then, when I receive a reply, I hit the notification, and my message(s) as well as theirs appear. Now if I reply again, go into another app, receive another message and try to go back, the conversation window is blank. If I type another message I cannot send it, it just remains in the text box when I hit enter. I go home, hit the multitasking button and close out Talk. Reopen and the cycle begins again.
I tried searching for this problem with various keywords to no avail. Not sure if anyone has seen this problem. But I'd appreciate any Insight. Thanks!
It simply seems like a sync issue.
Have you cleared the cache and data for Gtalk?
Also boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvok

Ok... Are you receiving your Gmail like its supposed to? What about other sync accounts like contacts and calendar or twitter and facebook.
If its only google related you need to wipe data from maybe download manager and Google services framework

Hmm... I just had my boyfriend send a test email and tweet, and I waited a few minutes and never received notifications for them. When I went into each app and refreshed they were there though. I don't use Calendar much but it is showing my events and Facebook birthdays.
I'm not having any weird issues in other apps like Talk, but I guess something is up with accounts and sync because now notifications aren't working?
Edit: Okay I just received a notification for an email. However, I was writing an email and when I went to type my contact in to the to field nothing popped up. No list to choose from I just had to type the email address manually.

OK do this... go to Accounts and Sync and shut off all sync accounts. Reboot. Once rebooted go back and turn sync back on for all accounts, wait a minute or two and reboot again... hopefully that will do it

Alright so I finally gave up and just did a factory reset of CM9 and all is working well in the fresh install. I appreciate your help, thanks!

I am using Code72's 4.2.6 modification. None of my emails are getting sent.
Do you have syncing on? mine used to not send if I didnt have the gmail sync enabled, I would have to manually refresh (sometimes multiple times) to get my emails to send.

Yep, sync is enabled.
Just noticed that I am also having this issue. Sync is enabled.
Just found the fix a few moments ago but forgot where in my excitement. All you need to do is hit Menu button, choose Settings->Applications->Manage applications and then scroll down to both Gmail and Gmail Storage and select the "Clear data" button in both.

Yep, that fixed it. Thanks.
but then you lose all the emails that were stuck in the outbox. Is there a way to fix this so that they are not lost?
This fixed it for me too. To help others with this fix, I was also experiencing this problem:
Try to send an email and it would stay as "Sending...". It was only syncing one way: From PC to phone. It was not syncing from phone to PC.
Thanks again!
I have the same issue when gmail messages are so slow to send. Just stuck in the sending. But when I reboot phone all messages get sent. I hope there's a more decent fix for this so I don't have to reboot or clear data to send messages

Airplane mode turn on/off usually works.
Hey I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this. When I check my gmail on my phone and if I delete it on my phone and then go check gmail on my computer later (more than an hour), the email I deleted on my phone remains undeleted and unread when I check it on my computer. Does anyone know whats wrong and how to fix it? It used to sync fine when I delete or read something on my phone, it mirrors it on my actual gmail account.
go into settings-applications-manage applications hit menu select filter hit all and clear data/cache from gmail and gmail storage

I rooted my Nook Color using Auto-nooter 3.0. Everything is working fine, with one acception, I can't delete emails from Gmail. When I push the button to delete the email, I get the confirmation dialogue, but when I confirm the delete, the Nook Color returns me to the home screen for my launcher, but when I go back into Gmail, the old emails are still there. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a way to correct this problem?
I had this same problem on my phone. If you go under nook color tools, applications, manage applications and go down to the gmail app and clear data and cache it should fix the problem at least it did on my phone.
When I go to nookcolor tools>manage application, I have no entry for gmail at all, but I do have the gmail application installed.
What you could do is star the message and then delete it once it's been starred.

No problem! I have no idea why you sometimes have to do it but at least it works!
Yesterday my phone stopped sending GMail, seems to be perfectly fine elsewhere, texting, Yahoo!, etc. I believe that a Google Maps update took place yesterday, otherwise no changes. Can't see how that would be related though. I compose the message and press Send, there appears in red text "Sending" and the message appears in the Outbox on the device but it never moves it beyond that. I have tried restarting the device to no avail.
Thanks in advance,
-Gary
Go into settings/accounts & sync/gmail/ - make sure gmail is checked for all 3 options. You *may* have to re-sign in.
Hmm... definitely make sure it's setup to sync but most likely you need to clear any unsent emails from the outbox on your phone and then go into settings, applications, manage applications, gmail and clear data and then let it resync.

I looked several times for a way to sign out and back in again but never could find it.

That certainly was easy! Thank you so much.
edit, nevermind
I'm having an issue with email sync. In the email app, one of my email accounts will sync for a few days then just stop syncing. I don't notice it until it dawns on me that I haven't gotten new email in a while. It won't let me manually sync either. At the top, the last sync date will remain static showing a few days ago. I've deleted the account and then set it up again twice and that works for a few days, then it fails again. This is an old verizon.net account that I've never had issues with on any other device. Any thoughts?

Mine was acting up this morning, I just rebooted, and I was able to sync again.
Not sure if that will help, or if you have tried that, but that has helped me.

Oh yeah, well past that. I've rebooted, unchecked and rechecked the sync box, messed with the sync settings... the only thing that seems to work is deleting the account and adding it back..

With which email provider are you having trouble? Is it Verizon as well? (hoping that we can at least narrow down the problem...)
Thanks!
Also - Is everyone still using the stock email app, or are you having issues with another app too? I'm stock and am getting ready to try something different.

I run 4 separate email accounts (POP, IMAP, and Exchange, but not Verizon) and don't have any problems. The only thing I can think of that hasn't already been suggested is to clear the cache and/or data for the email app in the application manager. If this is an Exchange account clear the data/cache for the Exchange services app also.
I had an issue with the stock e-mail app not syncing properly with gmail. New e-mails would come in, but old ones that were read would not be marked as read. As such it had over 50 unread e-mails even though the gmail app or gmail website had 2 or 3.
I switched to K-9 Mail which works much better.

This dude is just trying to get his post count up. Besides adding nothing to the conversation, he is becoming quite annoying repeating what others say in other threads.

I think I'm going to have to end up running another email app as well.
That leads me to another quandary. K-9 won't do hotmail. Mailbox and Cloud Magic won't do anything but gmail and iCloud. I need to find something that can handle a hotmail (IMAP I think) account, a verizon POP3 account, and a Gmail account. Any thoughts?

Where I work, we have 5 Galaxy S5's and we have all experienced this issue. One of my users has it happen every Tuesday. This is only with the stock email app. Other apps seem fine, but that's ridiculous....it shouldn't be doing this.
