Hi, recently I have discovered a dead pixel on the bottom left of my screen, and although this is amount, I'm willing to just deal with it. My question is will this cause any further damage to my phone or make it more prone to damage? Thanks in advance.

No to your question. Have you tried running a dead pixel fixing video? I've never had any luck with them personally but they work for some people. Also if the phone is in warranty I think you can get it repaired free.
Thanks a lot, great to know it shouldnt make anything worse. Also sadly my phone is out of warranty but ill try a tutorial.

So, i have this phone for only a month and I allready have a dead pixel... I made the test using *#00*# and it's a green pixel... Do you think that I can get my phone fixed under waranty?
Call up customer services and make a big fuss about how you only bought the phone over the competition because of the screen

So my girl's droid 3 has been acting up and want to try and get a replacement but she spilled cooking oil on screen and has a dark spot on LCD which happened early March. That did not effect the performance at all but lately its been going nuts. My question is can I get a replacement and not be charged for the the LCD problem even though it didn't effect the performance? Just want to know if anybody here has had the same incident or something similar or even your input would be nice. Thanks In Advance

How dark is the spot you are talking about? Are the performance issues now related to the screen response? Because it kind of sounds like now there are issues with the screen because of the oil incident.. ;]
I had to warranty my D2G awhile back. I declared a few somewhat major cosmetic problems to them as I was a jeweler at the time and had probably damaged it in some way during the course of my work. The problem with my phone had ended up being hardware related and had nothing to do with the damage and so my phone was replaced.
Here's pics of the screen and the problems happened months after the oil spill

But no the problem is that is gets hot and randomly reboots all day everyday the screen works perfectly except for the dark spot on screen

make the background pure black, avoid putting light apps where the dark spot is, and then i would bring it in lol
maybe turn the brightness down a bit also
Well if I turn the light down its too dark and can't see anything where the dark spot is at. But that's not the problem I want to know can i get a replacement to fix the over heating problem and the random reboots that happens frequently. I have no problem with the dark spot on screen

Well if you bring it in and tell them about the spill, they will probably tell you the overheating & rebooting is from that and im pretty sure spills are not covered by the 1 year warranty. And the spill would void the warranty im pretty sure also.
If you have insurance they will replace it though.
You could always go to the store and see if the rep will let you exchange it. You might get a nice one. It's unlikely but withholding info I think is fraud.

Looks like that dark spot is over the cpu... I'd try saying the dark spot was caused by the heating issue and maybe not mention the cooking oil...
^^^^^^^
I second that. Tell them that one day the phone got really hot in her pocket and then this screen dark spot appeared. She had been dealing with it 'til now, but she's finally sick of it since these new issues arose.
I could also try that to just don't want to send the phone in and they open it and see oil inside and they charge me for a whole new device even though it happened months ago. Does anybody know where the water censors are or the only one is in back of phone?

Just go in and they should replace it their if they have any in stock. Or they might offer you a different device.
It doesnt matter if it happened months ago, technically this would VOID your warranty. Like said above your best chance is to bring it in and say the it kept overheating in your pocket since a few months back and started noticing that dark spot.. If they did check the water sensors and they WERE TRIPPED then they wouldnt replace it, because that would void your warranty.

One of my good mates had an i9000 with working screen and sensor in good condition. He was going to sell the screen and sensor for £45. I'll ask him if he still has it if you're interested, I think he probably does. Don't think he's had the time to sell it, he works on the oil rigs and has been away a lot lately.
Dundee, UK by the way..

Does anyone have their screen slightly lifted from one side? It's like the adhesive is missing resulting in the screen lifting just from that part bending the glass abit. I just noticed after my hand sliding off the screen I can feel that it's been lifted. Will this be considered a manufacturer defect allowing me to swap the phone for free? Also how exactly does this work? Do I just show up with the phone and they swap the phone or do I have to take everything such as the box? I already took precautions and locked the bootload and ruu

If the screen is undeniably raised I don't see why sprint won't help u out ...take it to a corp store that has tech support.either way u have a year manufacter warranty

It's not raise a lot but it's best to fix things early before they get worse. It's to the point where if u push on it u can feel the screen sink abit. I also got that red noise issue
Give them a call ..hopefully you'll get a good rep that will leave notes on your account for repair or replace at your local pub (sprint ) ....haha yeah ..what's this red noise issue ?

So I just went in and they said they refused to help me because my phone was purchased through best buy. I guess I have to send it to HTC and see if they will fix it since I've unlocked although I wouldn't see y that would be an issue. Also tried bestbuy and they were no help since I was past the 15 days and I had no issurance. Time to see how it works with HTC

as long as the device is active on your account, sprint should help you.. Sounds like you got a bad store/employee

If you are within 14 days of original purchase, you are entitled to have your defective phone replaced with a NEW phone. If that is the case, that may be why they are "refusing" to help you, just poorly explained. However, if you are outside of that 14 day window, any Sprint corporate service center or ASC (authorized service center) should be able to help you with your issue, although some techs who are on a limited exchange budget may argue that your issue does not affect device functionality and therefore not qualify for an exchange. Not necessarily my opinion, just throwing that out there as a possibility.
As far as coverage and costs if you are outside of 14 day window:
If you have Best Buy insurance, go through Best Buy for a free replacement.
If you have TEP/ESRP, go through any Sprint service and repair location for a free replacement.
If you only have the manufacturer warranty, you can go through HTC for free replacement (could take up to two weeks and you might have to pay for shipping) or go through Sprint for a fee.
It's a known issue. People were posting about the raised screen when the phone first came out. Like someone said, try a different tech/store. I have argued till I was blue in the face over the phone about stuff, hung up got a different employee and had the next one give me zero problems.

different reps will handle the same situation differently, one may replace it with less fuss than the other depending on what they know and what state you bring it back in.
why are you exchanging it, is it really bricked? is there something else wrong with the phone? is it rooted? these things will help determine what state you may want to leave your phone in when you walk through the door.
It's currently rooted with kingo but I think you can unroot it and it will get rid of the custom padlock ... I dropped it once at home but the silver rim is starting to chip off

Sooooo here are the options. IF you can get rid of the custom Padlock screen and remove root you can either Bootloop Soft brick ( though soft bricks are hard bricks for us right now ) or you can Brake the firmware and leave it in a Firmware has Encountered an Error screen. whichever one you feel more comfy explaining on your end as to how this occurred for the warranty claim.

I could not, it would recognize the device but never connect to transfer files.
I'll be pleased if they deny your claim and cite the accidental damage as the cause. Buy a case or insurance next time.
I do have insurance and case and screen protector since day 1
