different reps will handle the same situation differently, one may replace it with less fuss than the other depending on what they know and what state you bring it back in.
why are you exchanging it, is it really bricked? is there something else wrong with the phone? is it rooted? these things will help determine what state you may want to leave your phone in when you walk through the door.
It's currently rooted with kingo but I think you can unroot it and it will get rid of the custom padlock ... I dropped it once at home but the silver rim is starting to chip off

Sooooo here are the options. IF you can get rid of the custom Padlock screen and remove root you can either Bootloop Soft brick ( though soft bricks are hard bricks for us right now ) or you can Brake the firmware and leave it in a Firmware has Encountered an Error screen. whichever one you feel more comfy explaining on your end as to how this occurred for the warranty claim.

I could not, it would recognize the device but never connect to transfer files.
I'll be pleased if they deny your claim and cite the accidental damage as the cause. Buy a case or insurance next time.
I do have insurance and case and screen protector since day 1

My captivate appears to have a dead USB port. No connection, no charging. No warranty either.
I have disassembled and cleaned it as best I could.
Tried multiple USB cables, both to PCs and chargers.
Did a factory reset.
Otherwise phone is 100% functional.
Any other ideas?
Can anyone recommend a reputable repair service?
Should I just buy one with a busted screen and frankenstien one between the two?
Take it back, its under warranty.
How is it under warranty. If he posted that its not.

I guess it came out like August? Then it would be less than a year. Right on

Well, it may be by time, but I bought it off e-bay. Will ATT still honor the warranty? Hasn't been wet.
If not. Samsung will.

Here is the whole story....
My phone is on a LARGE corporate account. We get a Windows Mobile phone with it. I wanted something else, so I bought the Samsung off E-bay last fall and put my SIM card in it.
It is an ATT branded phone. What are the chances they would warranty it if I just walked in and told them that my USB port was dead?
Just called att, and they are replacing it. Just need to get the billing address for my account. I guess I just assumed they would not warranty it. Kudos to them.

Just flash to stock. Send it in. We can help with any software problems, but everybody's phone is covered for hardware.
Oh, good point. It's rooted and Froyo....
Ok, so a quick look around didn't reveal a way to go back to stock without USB. Any ideas or pointers?
Ooh good point. I've seen people ask about a flashable stock but don't recall seeing one. Maybe change the title of this thread and update op with question. I can see it being ok to send in with custom rom and not being ok. If all else fails, flash a version of cog and delete super user and all other apps that he includes that need root. Then copy over a stock boot and shutdown animation.
I think I am just going to do a master reset and send it back. We have thousands of ATT phones on our account and I don't think they will care.
Replacement phone will be here Wed.
HUGE thanks to everyone who encouraged me and pointed out the foolishness in not trying to warranty it. If not for that, I would have just dealt with it.
Hi
Is there anyway back for a hard bricked Galaxy Note mobile...ie. wont turn on, wont go to recovery and wont go to download mod.
oh and the computer wont recognise it. :crying::crying:
thanks
It might be useful to tell us how exactly you bricked it. What software you were running, what you were trying to accomplish and other pieces of information like that...
As mentioned on other post last hope is JIG only in situation you are having.

The rom that was on the phone i think was kingdroid-ics-notemania-edition
The rom i was installing was paranoid-note-v01
The kernal was franco.kernal-r5
It just stopped in the middle of install and switched off.
The problem is I bought it of ebay about 4 months ago so have no proof of purchase.
If i took it to samsung service would they repair if I was willing to pay.
regards
Why you not taking chance first with jig, now just buy jig, if that will bring you to download mode then still chance to put life to ur device is there, if that won't work then last chance is ssc.

hi
If the phone was soft brick would it not at least light up?
Hello everyone... I have a really weird question: How can I kill my phone without the chance that the company finds out?
I'm stuck with a crappy contract and they won't let me finish it with my phone working... So... What should I do? The idea is that I kill the phone but that's impossible to discover that I did it...
Any ideas?

Brick it and claim that it was an update that failed?

Oh yeah, but bricking-it will not even cause the phone to be turned on? Or they still can know that I bricked it? And in what part of the update should I unplug it?
Put it in the microwave, that will kill it

If you brick your phone they will most likely know that you messed something up. So best is to do what others suggested, hair dry or microwave

Can't you just update it, and pull the plug part way through? Maybe pull the battery during an update? I don't know if the phone would be recoverable from that.

Finally after 3 Amoled screen phones prior to this one, I have my first ever case of "burn in." shows up kinda purple/pink on white backgrounds. Off to Samsung customer service chat I go.

I've had a repair center tell me they will swap out a refurb for it.
Samsung just gave me a number to call during the week. Will stop by a repair center tomorrow.
Would they be bothered with it being rooted? I had a few screens on my evo replaced under warranty and was on MIUI both times and they said nothing.

Not really but I would go back to stock just to be safe.

I agree. Put it completely back to stock so your chances of them saying they refuse to replace it because you rooted and put a custom ROM on it are virtually zero. Don't give them any excuse to say no because you're too lazy to put it back to 100% stock. Make sure you do a factory full reset after PC Odin back to stock and remove your SD card before bringing it in. Better to be safe than sorry.

Hello! I have a note 3 and in enough time my phone will boot then go to the at&t logo then just sit there for ~5~ min or even more...then sometimes will go back to the Samsung thing back to At&T logo and give it enough time and hard rest but it comes back and I have my phone again. Pain....in..my..ass
The solution: factory reset...but I hate doing this because I'm doing it repeatly now...
Has anyone else has this problem or have any advice for me?
Edit: Does anyone know anyone willing to trade a Note 3 AT&T for a SM-N9005? It has a glass screen protector and a aluminium home button.

What did you do to your phone? As in did you root it? Try to install a custom ROM? A custom recovery? Anything like that? You can odin back to stock from Root De La Vega from what I understand. I don't see anybody trading their phone for a broken one. You can't even trade here on XDA, you have to use Swappa or something else.
I added xposed and some apps the ones I am using are
Call recording
Gravity Box
Wanam
I can't install any custom Roms bootloader is still locked :/
So I fixed it by just factory resting everything. So my point on posting this is to see if anybody has this problem. The phone isn't broken it in perfect condition. I just don't know how much longer I can take without an unlocked bootloader.
If you wanted I could screenshot of what apps are using root?

Try taking your SD card out and then see if you still have the long boot or loop issue. Some phones are having issue reading certain brand SD cards and it id causing long boots or other strange problems..

Just curious what (security hacks & advance mods) settings did you use in wanan?
when you got your note 3...You didnt carry over your sd card with anything on it did you from prior device? Or use titanium backup?
Id try to trouble shoot it this way...Disable wanan...reboot see If it does it again....If so, start with the other app and disable or unistall.....Keep trying you'll find the source
Gravity Box is not to be used with Note 3 ROM. I know things work with it but the OP says not to use on TouchWiz roms. Or I might be wrong..

I had the same issue I guess it coz of Gravity Box, it is advised not to use Gravity Box on Note 3 Touch Wiz I removed it and never faced the Boot Loop or System UI Stopped working since then.
