Ok guys, I know its been done on 2.2 launcher2 and rosie but id like to have this mod on the stock 2.3 launcher. I have been playing around with the .xmls but everytime I change something the launcher just fcs. After decompiling Launcher2.apk, ive found the following:
/res/layout-port/workspace_screen.xml appears to point to "dimen/workspace_cell_width" and "dimen/workspace_cell_height". Seems pretty self explanatory but when you look at the last 2 values, you see short axis and long axis as "4". So ive tried changed these values with no luck.
In /res/values-port/dimens.xml, we have "workspace_cell_width 80dip" and workspace_cell_height 100dip".
Ive tried changing the values in workspace_screen.xml to "5" and values-port/dimens.xml values to "64dip" and "80dip". Launcher fcs, as well as changing them singularly. All 3 variations fc. So I'm out of ideas... If anyone experienced with .xml editing could take a look at this it would be great. As well as feedback from the community to better convince someone to take a look at it. This is the first time I've ever even attempted to look at .xmls... So a little out of my league ;-P Thank you everyone for making an amazing mobile os into something beyond the stars!

I just cant decide which one is the best. I prefer the pinch preview feature that launcher pro has. Works almost like sense ui's, but I like everything else on adw. Mainly the docks and functionality tweaks in the preferences menu. Launcher pro is a bit more snappy, but the pinch preview has gotten me hooked. But the sense ui scroll bouncing is way way better on adw. It gels mute like sense when I scroll. which do you prefer?

I like them both alot .....been using ADW for quite sometime,,,,back when you had to flash it before it was in market ....but now that Launcher Pro allows you to modify the app launchers I am starting to like it more .....
but now i just keep them both installed
I been using adw since it was a flashable zip as well. I remember emailing anderweb about putting it on the market. Still a great app, but launcher pro has upped the ante on better functionality.

I really like launcher pro....I tried Adw but thought laucher pro was visually nicer and faster.
They are both great launchers, I have both installed but currently using ADW. I think, at this point, the scales are tipped toward ADW for me. But you really can't go wrong either way, both great devs and they work in cooperation with each other helping with each others work to make it better. How awesome is that?
Using ADW and haven't tried LP yet.

Well if that's the case, then they need to combine their apps and create the ultimate masterpiece. their pretty much very similar in many ways. The two seem like fragments of what the apps are supposed to be. They just need to bring the two together and form like voltron!! they'll take over the market together.

ADW on Ic3 Rom here and I love it. I tried launcher pro briefly but I really like the layout of adw better.
LP for me. All the icons I use most are included, phone contacts ect...

The developer has acknowledged some kind of problem with the market. You can download the apk from his website. I cannot post links but it is
www dot launcherpro dot com
Awesome! Thanks dude!
launcher pro!!!
it even has the option to make it look like AWD launcher!!
hahaah.. pwnage
Im on the launcher pro bandwagon. Its much better performancE wise. The main thing I like about adw is that 6 icon retractable dock and the way it scrolls. Feels just like sense when you configure it properly. It lags a lil tho. Lp is a lil more reliable, although it had its lags in some areas as well.

Can't use LauncherPro b/c it requires Android 2.1 but ADW Launcher is great, and the latest version has the pinch-preview desktop switching now too.
Adw and launcher pro are now tied in my book.

Pretty cool looking and runs fairly smooth on the Eris. Trying it out now:
http://www.goforandroid.com/
One of the best features I've found so far - iPhone-like uninstall with long press!
They even have an eris running it on their home page!
I got it on my eris and its smooth as butter

Very cool share. Switch between adw ex and go launcher. Have you checked the messaging and weather apps? Thanks again for the share . Looks good with miui icons.
Great launcher. Worked very smooth unlike others.

I love Go. I had just paid for ADW Ex when someone here mentioned it. Very clean and smooth. I especially like the folders where you can see the contents before opening.

Go launcher is the best. Has a lot of great features all free.

been using Go launcher for about 3 days now. Seems to work good. Haven't had a problem out of it..
Well, I installed it, then simifolders, one of the two made a load of widgets disappear from my list. :\
*edit* must have been go launcher. Updated it and the widgets are back on the list.
Yeah, I'm using the messaging app too, haven't checked out the weather...I'll have to.
If anyone is interested my new Dark Horse v0.5 MM theme will theme this launcher please read the info concerning this in DH post. Link to the DH thread is in my sig line.
Enjoy tell me what you think. You don't need to apply all the Dark Horse theme if you don't want to. Using MM just apply the subtheme com.gau.go.launcher.apk and MM will do the rest, remember to reboot Go launcher must be in the systerm/app folder for it to work instructions on how to do this are in the thread.
Hi all just wondering for those using launcher pro does launcher pro freeze when you first start up your phone
The launcher is fine once you perform a force close so it is not too annoying
Still it would be good if I can change the situation
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
that happened for me too, on CM7 RC2, it had to force close to be responsive again... right now i'm on CM7 RC4 and that never happened again, also try to check if you are on the last version of launcherpro 0.8.4.1... because maybe the lastest updates of launcherpro fixes that weirdness.
I have the same problem with launcher pro (paid version too) on cm7 rc4 so no thats not the solution lol
Yeah I'm on the latest nscollab which is just cm7 rc4 and the newest version of launcher pro
Thanks for the suggestion though

I have the same problem, but I wanted to change the ROM...
I had the same issue with the stock rom. It appears to be LP related.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
I have the same thing. Launcher pro freezing every time when finalizing boot getting force closes. Paid version too. Thanks
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
This has happened with every single ROM I've ever used - also with my Hero - def LP bug.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Good to know that it is a common problem I guess all I CB do is wait for an update
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Always had this problem, with my Nexus One, Desire HD and now Nexus S. On booting, LP freezes with a black screen for about 30s or so.
I've just given up with it and switched to Zeam, cos I was getting pretty tired of it.
The defect, occurs when certain apps are installed on SD.
Resolved to move app to the internal memory.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
I have all my apps on internal, but the problem still happens.
Use Zeam launcher its faster than any other launcher i've used so far
This issue is what made me switch to ADW. It really began to get frustrating.
I have this problem also . . . doesn't happen all the time though. Recently it stopped backing up settings to the SD card also
I have been having this problem as well. After a reboot ( due to cm7 being unstable ) I have a black screen and you would think the phone was crashed if not for BLD buttons working on the bottom and the volume rocker making sounds when pressed, after about 3 mins desktop and bar show up.
Its been getting worse and worse. I have never used any launcher but LPP but I switched to ADW as its getting really bad, I just switched back as I can't stand adw but I think I either have to find a new launch, get used to adw, or something as LPP is killing me everytime I have to reboot.
I am going to cross post this to LPP forums as well as I thought I was alone but obviously if there is a thread on it, then I am not alone. Here is hoping a fix is found as I really like LPP.
Facts: no app's stored on SD, no widgets installed on SD.
Cheers,
Switch to go launcher ex
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
adw launcher is probably the best all around. i love it
Just updated to cm 7 well the newest nscollab the problem is not as bad now
It's wite finicky
I use zeam on my x10 but I like the Widgets from lpp more
Adw... just looks odd to me
Go is not bad but too iPhone like
Regina lags..as you can see I've tried a fair few launchers
Side note lpp would be perfect if it has gestures and screen organisation like if you can rearrange screen order
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
So I figured out my issue, I was using the BFS sched. from netarch and once I switched to CFS things went to acceptable levels, I say acceptable as its still not as good as ADW but its good enough that I can use the launcher I prefer, lets just hope he stays up on the updates still waiting for the rewrite and with his last post of themeing widgets for this version I am afraid we are a bit lower on the queue.
Does anyone know which launchers may work with the HTC One?
I need to set up a 7 X 6 grid on the home screen. Basically I want to port over my setup from my Atrix 4G. Noone has mentioned any grid settings so a 3rd party launcher may be necessary.

I think Sense 5.0 should be compatible with the HTC One. Don't hold me to it though, I could well be wrong. Hope that helped buddy!...
The only other launcher that I have heard for certain works with the One is Nova Launcher. Read about it on Android Central. But I would imagine others would work just as well.
Hope this helps

I'm sure apex and go launchers will work soon as you buy it as well. It is running 4.1 I believe? So it won't be a problem at all.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
I just got my One today, and one of the first things I tried was to install my favorite launcher, LauncherPro Plus. It installed and seemed to work, but I quickly discovered that, because the One doesn't have a "menu" button and because LauncherPro apparently doesn't adhere to the latest Android application design guidelines, what you end up with is a big horizontal black bar with three vertically aligned dots (HTC's solution for apps that still require a menu button) between the launcher icons and the capacitive buttons - which sadly makes it a non starter for me, unfortunate because I really like LauncherPro.
@levman, I too like launcher pro but last I saw, Frederico stopped supporting it around Android 2.2 or so. Did he return to this project?
I guess 2.2 would work on this phone....or not.
Edit; I guess I should have said that Launcher Pro was last based off android 2.2. He of course re-wrote a ton of that code.
ADW.EX works fine, as does Apex/Apex Pro.
Nova is probably the best launcher available, some good customizable options in there

Anyone know of a mod that will make the dock transparent like the widget mod?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I think I give up asking questions here. Lol
82 views and nothing. Hmm.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
A different launcher would do the trick. Only suggestion I can offer at the moment.
Kind of a shame to lose some of the Sense features though.
I tried using Nova Prime today and, even though I really like it, I ended up back with Sense. I used it all the time on my One X. I love hiding the dock and changing other things, but it just isn't miles better than Sense anymore.
Anyway, maybe you might like it. It'll give you a good number of ways to customize the dock.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
You can use vrtheme with a zip for change the png of the dock in sense.
However, for trickdroid this mod excits!
I found a mod in the Themes & Apps section. I saw it before but I didn't know the dock was considered the "nav bar". There were no screenshots. I decided to just try it and it made the dock transparent.
